1/4 Drag: The Car Classes

Explain to me how at the end of the same straight, if one car is going faster it loses?

Are you doing a burnout for a few seconds before you set off? I've done plenty of drag racing in GT5, though not online in any public games. Your first post doesnt make sense.

Unless you're hanging around for half an hour playing with your balls at the start, the guy doing the highest speed at the end is generally the faster car.

Lastly 8mph is a fairly big difference.

You said you "done plenty of drag racing in GT5, though not online in any public games." Umm... how? There are no official drag events. And unless I am overestimating you, you wouldn't be that lonely as to go to practice mode and drag by yourself?

This is pointless. It's like trying to tell a blind person what the color "yellow" looks like. Add me and I will show you what you cannot see.

"Unless you're hanging around for half an hour playing with your balls" - so is that what you do in drag rooms??

Picture my point of view.

A thread where you have a list of cars for drag racing with no stated rules, no information about tyres or what tuning is available or applied, no information of how the drag racing is recorded. You have a bunch of cars with apparently big differences in speeds classed higher than cars with much higher trap speeds, no explanation of how the trap speed system is working.

And then you have someone asking "Do you even know what 4WD" means, which gives me the impression that you are a child, which gives me even more reason to question you?

Drag racing against friends, not in public rooms with randomers, and did a fair bit of it vs the clock in GT4 (Subaru Impreza C-spec ftw). Hanging around playing with your balls is another way of saying getting a really bad start and wheel spinning.

Do I really have to spell things out? come on.. Get off your high horses here.

The 4WD question was directed to you ;)

Like I said, add me and bring out your Speed 12 and watch me beat it in a station wagon (RS6 Avant)

Do they call you sherlock holmes? :dunce:

Its 2:30 in the morning, I'm on the forums while working. I don't have the benefit of being able to just fire up the PS3. I asked you to make it clear how your drag racing works, how you come to your numbers, what restrictions you have in place, if any?

All you got is trying to rile me up while asking me to race you?

Are there only children who do drag racing? sigh.. I'm not trying to cause some stupid arguement here, I came to the thread because I was genuinely interesed.

2:30? Your mommy lets you stay up that late?

I believe this will help you:

Once your parents have read that to you, come add me and then we'll see just how well my "Car Classes" list holds up. As sherlock holmes would say, "Cheers".

More smack talk, very mature of you as usual:rolleyes:

The thread you showed sais nothing to explain why a car doing 10mph faster at the end of the run is losing? Or the tyres you use, the tuning restrictions you use? You running stock cars with gear ratios? Full tune? Full tune apart from power upgrades?

Pretty much what i've asked for the last 3 posts.

I was going to explain what time zones are but I believe that you have taken care of the issue lightning... 6:52 PM Pacific Time... not everyone lives where you do pro GT4 solo dragger

ok... to answer it again, the GT-R which is ranked higher than the 12 is 4WD it has an amazing launch it may trap lower, but it gets to the 1/4 end faster end of story

What does the time in your country have to do with my country?

First you want to explain 4WD, next you want to explain the time zones, you're one clever boy! 💡

Enough with the boy/child talk... I wouldn't have to explain, if you gave me the impression that you knew already.

I dont believe that you have tried to tune a speed 12 for 1/4 drag on GT5, but if you have, you would know that that is the place it sits on the ranking. This thread has the most posts of any on this "Drag Racing" thread and you are the only person who seems to have a major problem with it. Whether you agree or not it is factual that the cars listed in a class above are faster with cars racing each other evenly with a basic or finely tuned car (e.g. the best of the best or basic vs basic, not some random badly tuned car vs a finely tuned one; Only way to tell if your tune is good it to race others online). If you are up to it, you can see this by racing me or lightning or someone with experience to verify the lists validity. Thank-you.

I disagreed with the list and asked somebody to explain how it works, because at face value it does not make sense. I've clearly said this in about 4 posts now, I've had enough repeating myself.

The response I got was along the lines of "Yeah come bring it to the track, i'l show you what my car can do, Do you even know what 4WD is ? Mommy let you stay up too late"

What kind of adult talks like this?

What you have done there is twisted our words. Ok that is over with.

All cars listed have ALL performance parts installed, racing soft tires, and are tuned with a basic tune, I dont have the time to explain all the cars and why they are in those classes but here are a few you or I have brought up.

Veyron vs 12 - the Veyron has over 1200 HP and is 4WD, in a 1/4 mile race, the veyron will be done by the time the 12 is at the halfway mark, there is no way they would be in the same class.

Mclaren F1 vs SLR Mc- the N/A F1 does not have the torque to beat the SLR. The SLR's launch is too fast for the F1 and despite its top speed, it cant catch up in time.

12 vs GT-R - Again, the GT-R is 4WD, besides the Veyron and Le Mans, I would say that the GT-R may have the best launch of any other street car. This would be a closer race at the end but the GT-R would have it by at least 2 cars.

I hope that helped.

Explains a lot, I've not done any drag racing with maxed out power and racing softs on the cars, only stock engines with suspension/transmission/drivetrain on sports soft tyres using manual gears with a clutch, vs friends who do the same.

Categories seem a little wrong here, McLaren F1 and TVR Cerbera Speed 12 if well tuned and setup right will live and beat the veyron and certainly beat most of cat 2 hands down every time.

Haha the speed 12 beat veyron? you ain't dragged a decent veyron then.

Wow, I haven't seen one of these types rooms before. Is this on Indy? SSR7? Sarthe?

To lighning, I can assist you with the EVO/STi traps.. after all, that is what I tune. :)
Add the
STi 22B Coupe (a great car. Very fast but low torque, high top end)
STi '05 (Premium) (can be the fastest of these)
EVO VI RS (fast! not enough HP though)
STi Spec C '02 (2 more hp than '04 spec C but 60 kg more, slower)
STi '10 (good launch)
EVO X ( i know you have this aleady... but since it was fixed, it can out launch a GT-R... no joke (for about .01 seconds), compared to other EVO/STi's not bad but wayyy to heavy)
EVO VIII RS (also another good choice, can be tuned to be the fastest of all)

Oh this BigBazz guy doesn't know WTF he's talking about, I lol'd reading the last 2 pages lol.

Regarding the above, Speed 12 will never beat a gayron.

EDIT:

LOL I just relaised how much I use this thread as a reference when I tune my cars for drag lol

+1 👍

…by the way, maf will be in to smack you down for calling it a gayron :lol:

Yes mafia will and mafia will tell You the same i did, a properly tuned veyron will not get beatin by a speed 12 think about it mate the speed 12 has way to much wheelspin to even get off the line and You think a 1256hp awd monster will lose? Haha iv tuned both and iv run both with alot of tunnel and quarter draggers Dont insult me.

Nope I didnt know wtf the original post was talking about, there is a difference. I also never said anything about the Speed 12 beating a Veyron.

^^^Add SambaBus to that.

 You never got to race mine. I forgot about that. I did get to race someone with it a few nghts back and crushed them.:lol::lol: Thought it was going to be a good race. They brought theirs out and it looked vicious. Raised rear, slammed front, but no engine upgrades.:dunce:Made for some good fun though. Everyone laughed at us and our busses.

I think they couldn't believe someone actually tuned that thing.

I gotta start tuning some <100hp beasts :D
