But I'm mostly a car man,

That's bad news to the model manufacturers - they're not only 'car' men. Shush.

. . . so to perk my interest all you really need to do is to post an interesting and/or nice car that I haven't heard of, and I'm game. ;)

Will do. I'm most impatient to see a horde of pics from you, too.

For now - while I'd love to engage you in conversation all day, I must fly.

Vaya con Dios!

He may not be gone forever, though; he wrote on my profile page that he is considering to come back when "things settle down" (his words). It's related to the post I wrote yesterday when I tagged him. So he's not entirely out of the loop...

Sadly it feels to me like he won't be coming back any time soon. Totally understandable too. As I told him yesterday, if I was in his position I'd feel exactly the same way.

Still, let's give it a few more months if need be. After all, the thread has opened its doors more to other brands, so there's no need for arguments about that anymore.

Hardly reinventing.. it's the same great thread as it ever was (as far as i'm concerned). Only difference is, we've lost a really cool contributor, and gained an unnecessary extra thread, thanks to certain issues.

Well, then it's up to us to solve said issues, no? The unecessary rift is just that; unecessary. Uncalled for, if you prefer. All we need to do is to enjoy the cars we buy and those who are bought by others. With a car fan mentality to boot.

Am I missing something here?

EDIT: Oh, I see it. I'm not even gonna bother. It's just absurd. Sorry Harry, but I really, really think you're waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overreacting to this. And you're looking bad.

Yes, I had not seen it at the time of my previous post.

It's fine, I've seen that you noticed it now. And to be honest, I share your opinion on this; it's just simply unecessary. I admire the thought behind it, but doesn't this thread also work for discussing Mattel/MBX-related stuff? Just asking as politely as I can...

but doesn't this thread also work for discussing Mattel/MBX-related stuff?

It has for six years and almost forty thousand replies. I don't want to cause any conflict or anything but personally I don't see why this had to suddenly change.

It's the pillar of the thread. And still...

I don't really know what else to say, really. I've not been here for that long to speak much more about this, but I just don't see why is this happening. What was gained because of this? Nothing, that's what, because we ended up losing other users' contribution in this thread, all because of the negative feelings around here, regarding this "problem". And that's about it for me regarding this. I'll continue to have a broad view of all scale models, simply because I am a car fan first and foremost. Brand allegiance does not act as a main priority for me, to be duly honest.

It hasn't but in just one person's mind.

Also, look, Hot Wheels.

I don't really know what else to say, really. I've not been here for that long to speak much more about this, but I just don't see why is this happening. Claims about Mattel collectors leaving this thread because of other people, who apparently hate Mattel? That just did not happen. No one can say for sure that such a thing caused those leavings, so that so-called claim goes downhill faster than a mountain bike that fell off a cliff. And that's about it for me regarding this. I'll continue to have a broad view of all scale models, simply because I am a car fan first and foremost. Brand allegiance does not act as a main priority for me, to be duly honest.

Double posting because I think you have it the other way around. It's not Mattel collectors leaving, it's other brands collectors -who also collect Mattel btw, and some of the best HW pieces this thread has seen- because of complains of other brands in the thread that should suposedly be Mattel-focused because... well I don't know why.

I'd in fact like enlightment about that.

Ok, maybe I did get it the wrong way there, and I apologize if that's the case. But still... Other than the name that the thread once had, was there really any rule that was laid in stone about this being exclusively a HW/MBX thread? It's the same story that happened with PCARS and GT6; more people decided to change sides due to the appearance of a new "guest", so this exact site had to adapt to that reality. That's what should be happening here; adapting. The last thing anyone wants to do is to alienate Mattel fans, just because we post pictures of non-HW/HBX cars. No one wants that, or so I believe.

And I agree with you again, this whole situation needs to be put under an "enlightment" light, to try to clarify all of this...

Why don't the fiction novels get put in the non-fiction section of a library? Not that I disagree with your take on the matter, but this is the reason why.

Now that's what I call awkward timing.

Not at all. :) It was perfect timing; the staff overview of the situation is rather more enlightened than you could imagine.

Still, great news, our work has been recognized! Hooray! :gtpflag:

Yes, good work, pat on the back - now enough talk - moar cars! :D

We have expanded, renovated, and even put up a new sign so get those pics rolling in.
You can never say who new might drop by. :sly:

Talking about miniature die-cast models - or as collectors would call them 'box-size' models . . .

Micros are a passion with me. My kids tease me by trying to get a micro off me and running away with it. It turns me red and I start yelling uncontrollably:

Remote 1:64s, anyone? Yeah . . . why not race them that way, too:

Well, that's it for now, for the Small Scale, Miniature, 1:64 Die-cast Model Thread.

Oh! Wait - here's another Hot Wheel:

I won't discuss the large one in here - though that's a Hot Wheel, too.
Guess there's a time and place to talk about that weird Hot Wheel stuff. It's actually quite thrilling when one is surrounded by nothing but Mattel. It kind of all goes together. ;)

Gotta fly:

I'd kinda fly with that if this was Diecast Planet, but it's GTPlanet. I understand the point, but from practically the begining of the thread other brands started to get posted. It was and is obvious what this thread is for, even if for whatever years this has been alive it has had just two brands on it's name. Come on.

Well, in my defence, I did write the original title when I was of the tender age of nine. :dopey:

Also, I recently got some new things (!!), going to take pictures of them today with the DSLR.

Does this mean that we will be unable to post other scale of cars here?
Anything bigger than 1:64 (as labeled) so 1:43 and up basically should be posted in the scale model thread.

----------------------

Man I really want this, and $17 with only 528 produced isn't a bad price, but if you zoom in on the photo you'll see a nasty scratch on the front fender and that is a no-no for me. :(

Edit: just noticed it says more than 10 available, woot. Will just ask for a good one.

After I saw this post I was quite taken aback - here in Ontario we have BBurago in plenty but 1:43 and up - 1:24s and 1:18s in many levels - but no 1:64s. I have quite a few myself, and if there is one thing I'm not happy about is the wheels - but the wheels I see on the 1:64 look quite good!
Had to hurry off to the official site and, dang - if they don't have some nice 1:64s in there:

bburago1-64s_zpsosa2piyy.jpg

Here's a quick link for anyone interested (don't look at the 1:43s - you'll defect to the Scale Model Thread and never return. )

http://www.bburago.com/

Nothing I have seen on the shelves or pegs here - no 1:64s. Maisto ? We have a huge range of them - and strange - seeing that they are in the same Group of companies.
Hot Wheels, of course, is comfortably numb with its aislesfull of HWs and MBXs - TRU can have as much as 24 feet of pegboard - (that's 6 'gondolas' in retail slang) and thats a lot to give just mainlines.
The opposing walls will have all the other related Mattel stuff - track sets, specialty cars, etc, and some MBX.
And then there'll be HWs scattered throughout to trap you - dump bins, feature ends, and so on.
When Greenlights or Tomicas come in they disappear in a flash.
