The first time I've seen the Siku Macan in pictures... While I am not a huge fan of Porsche SUVs, it does seem that the casting is decent enough to justify a purchase. What do you think, Kakashi?

Rubbing Alcohol on the back will release the glue.
Thanks, but I'm handy with box-knife anyway. Plus, I usually have to trim the blister little bit here & there to make it fit properly inside the storage case compartments.

I found I think my only the third $uper Treasure Hunt(ever lol).

Wowzers. And I thought I had it bad.

Thanks Harry. Unlike Andy & other guys, I lack photography skills, so I cheat with the gimmick. :P

I haven't taken a picture using my diorama in ages... but hey whatever works. I don't operate off a fully complete diorama, but I try to convince viewers it's in some exotic location.

It is indeed decent, but it lacks detail. Hence I painted those air intakes at the sides of the front end.

Ah, those were painted? Interesting, I couldn't tell at first, good job with that. 👍 I do supposed that Siku didn't put as much detail as they could've, which is a shame. But at least the casting as a whole is accurate enough...

My local Walmart got some C case stuff in, but they mixed it all up with some really old stuff that's been sitting around for months and piled it all into a big metal bin that was literally over flowing. I glanced at what was piled on top and didn't even bother with the rest, then checked the pegs (got a BTTF hover mode) and then left. Unless they sell a ton of cars for the holidays, I don't expect anything new to be put out for a while.

Decided to get away for a little bit and took a 30 minute drive to the next closest "mall." (If you can call it that, it's pretty small) And finally picked up a Redline Kenmeri! Picked up the 180SX for my S-Chassis friends.

Came across these two at the local flea market. I didn't pick them up, but thought they were interesting.

Already have a JL MX-5, but blue with two white stripes.

Clear Speeder..Seems like everything after the first editions release just doesn't look very good. Might just be due to the wheels.

'77 Pontiac Firebird T/A. First mainline of its kind! I am in love with the bird decal on a red paintjob. I like it so much I don't mind how there are flame decals that are accented with the yellow-rimmed wheels.

What I do mind however is how the rear sits lower than the front. That's just plain silly, Mattel.

Post 2010's reappear on the pegs - stock gets shuffled around every year after inventory, markdowns and clearance. Sometimes shops throw a whole bunch of stuff out or destroy it, marking it as a net loss so as not to inflate their year-end inventory. Sometimes the odd lot appears at a liquidation center. 2000s - 2010s are a little harder to source, and getting anything pre-2000 is a huge stroke of luck if one sees them mixed on a peg with current models. I have never seen it happen yet but have heard people say they found a pre-2010 on a peg of a big box like TRU.

OTOH, I have occasionally found a 1990 - 2000 model on the pegs of a Clearance or Discount Store - what the buyers for these stores do is go to what are called 'special pollings' - large amounts of merchandise cleared by the big wholesale houses - the buyers pick them up in lots and then they surface on the floor of the Discount/Liquidation Centers.

Nothing like going down to one of these huge warehouse-type centers (they sell everything from bathtubs and garden sheds to cosmetics and chandeliers - the merchandise keeps constantly changing) and suddenly coming across a wire dump-bin filled with hundreds of ancient HWs. And quite often it might be just four or five models - but hundreds of these same models.

More of that little Jeff Gordon Dupont: (so many good memories for him in that car.)

Stores in North America could probably sell off unwanted goods to our local dollar stores for a low price. Better than destroying goods.

I think that's what happened with our stores receiving 2014 cases for the past 2 months.

Yes, Dollar stores get Clearance inventory - as well as many lots of goods that have been rejected by the big box buyers - so the various dollar stores - Dollarama, Dollar Party, Everything-for-a-dollar and so on - all these stores suddenly produce odd lots of HWs, MBXs and Maistos, as well as some miniature Tonkas.
Dollarama is one of my main hits for odd (and older) models - and I've found some really good finds there - but they always charge a premium.

And this, too:

They do charge 50% more (or 20% rather), but they are selling discontinued stuff you can no longer get at Walmart. It's also more financially sound to get it here than to buy from a reliable US seller on eBay (shipping and currency rate).

Oh! Sure! I don't mind the extra few cents I pay - it still is far cheaper and of course spontaneously thrilling when you find something you wanted (maybe saw it in this thread and couldn't find it elsewhere) and there it is on a Dollarama peg. A lot of the uncommon MBXs I have are from Dollarama and I've picked up some great variations in there. Odd how they carry certain models that I've never seen in any of the big stores.

The thrill about internet sourcing is of course the gratification 'on-demand' - so one has to pay for it - and I guess there is also the pleasurable anticipation in waiting for the postman to ring twice.

'Discontinued' stuff - that's the magic word when going looking for the older models - and sometimes one finds a real gem that way.

Story of my life for the past 4 years and still ongoing today.

Am I being silly for believing that those rims suit the 2000GT rather well? I do know they are clearly inaccurate, but at least they look somewhat realistic in the car's context. The Nissan pair at the bottom has the right set of wheels, that is true, and the RX-3 somehow gained Torq-Thrust-esque wheels for that photo alone. That last portion is without a doubt the greatest ofender in that picture set...

C case already?

Man, at this rate, when we reach April 2019, you guys will already be on the M case for 2021.

Still like that red one most.

Minus the wheels of course.

I don't think there is anyone who ever liked those wheels other than Wilson - from long, long ago. :)
They can be customised a bit though to take away from those tractor wheels.

Then again it still looks somewhat misshapen because of the 'hot-rodded' wheels; these cars were meant more for racing on orange tracks - not for looking at as actual replicas.
