All right... time to break the bank for this. This will come very soon at the store nearby.

Haha, I knew you'd share this in a heartbeat... I can definitely see why, though; despite being an uncommon choice for Tomica as a whole, as a Vision GT car, the Nissan is still one hell of an attractive 1:64 TLV Neo, one of the brand's finest in recent years.

And unless you really want to break the bank with Modeller's own 1:43 resin model, this will be the next best thing available. It is the smallest VGT scale model your money can buy, after all...

I'm not sure if anyone really collects them any more but Micro Machines are back!!

Only problem is they seem to only be doing Star Wars ones for now. :indiff: I would be cool for them to do real cars again and maybe some new castings. I would love to collect them from scratch this time!

Nice to hear that they're back. Having realistic cars again would be great, let's hope it happens! I miss all my old ones, the only one I currently have (or could only find) was my black Porsche 959.

I've got an idea for a collection "series" I'm starting, but I'd like some help with one choice.... I want to collect each generation of the Toyota Crown! However, Japan Booster is (still) having a sale and there's two colors I'm interested in, but I'm not sure which one would be better. Would like some input.

Green 1956 Crown Deluxe (Only one left)

Or blue Crown Deluxe. (2 left)

Will also be getting the 40 series Crown in maroon.

I like both colors, but I think I'd go with green out of the two? I have black, and also the Australian Rally version, but my next one is going to be the red "Japanese Car Era" one. I'm missing just two from that series, and the Crown's one of them.

Nevermind, both of the listings are gone. :(

Attempting to get some "quality" photos of my Crown wagon.

I loved this one so much I ended up ordering the second one from the Taiyo ni Hoero series. I thought it was just different color, but they actually have different detailing. I'll let you know more when I get it(it's in L.A. right now).

Just so you know, you can PM him with stuff like that. His name's Akiyo(really good guy), and he says he loves sourcing cars that he doesn't have listed. Rare and/or old stuff that he could run into problems with, but for something common like the Crown(s), it should take him just few days. AmiAmi still show them, too. With the weak yen right now, you could get a real nice deal on them.

Shame that those early TLVs were pretty crude compared to what the line became. They need to re-issue the 40-series Crown as they did with the 1st-gen Cedric.

I did notice the quality is different. Bought an earlier Skyline and it doesn't seem quite as close as the current quality. Maybe I should wait? >_>

You know I own a 60-series Crown, so I had to get as many as possible. :P (Although I didn't get that version you're talking about) Still have the older Tomica Limited black sedan as well.

I'll look into it, I was mostly considering it as they were on sale. But I forgot Amiami might still be another option.

Scored a walmart with 4 dump bins that didn't look like they've been touched... FINALLY found the Z (3 of em) and 2 of the TH Rip Rods...

Both castings are unbelievably impressive for a Hot Wheels
I ended up picking up the Falken Porsche, too. Very cool. 👍

I guess they had to start somewhere, but I totally agree. I just received my first Publica from the Japan Booster(eBay seller) Black Friday Sale, and while I adore Publica, that is exactly why it took me so long to finally get one(and the price: $8.50).

I actually haven't opened it yet, but I've seen enough pics to check out its design & build quality. TLVs been shifting much, much more toward NEO & beyond, but I would welcome idea like yours where they redesign their old castings.

I recently bought couple of used vintage Skylines. I was pretty happy with the quality, at least on these two.

Is it too old? :P More pics here if you want to see.

Ah, you still have the Crown. 👍 Yeah, you couldn't go wrong between AmiAmi & Japan Booster. 👍

I wasn't too sure about the Z initially, but I've seen more pics of it & I think it's grown on me. I hope I can find one soon, too!

My one friend who's a collector (he's in his late 20s) said he got scolded by an older employee for looking through a dump bin. He said it was one of those divided ones and he was in the process of emptying out the one section into another in an effort to make it easier to look through the first section and the employee said "you know, if you're gonna hog all this stores Hot Wheels the least you could do is bring your kids with you but then again you probably don't have any since there's no females anywhere near you."

My friend said he gave the employee a dirty look, put back every last thing in his cart and walked out of the store.

I would have gone straight to management. Actually, I take that back, I would have given him a piece of my mind right then and there, THEN went to management.

That's pretty much the same exact thing I said. My friend (we'll just call him Jack since that's his name and it'll make things easier) said that had it not been for the store being the only Walmart that he knows of in his area, he would've done something like that.

Well, Jack missed his chance to say something, so I'd say just let it go. The employee sounds like he's holding a grudge about other people and unlucky Jack was in the right place at the right time for him to channel his anger at him.

Some good news

If I didn't switch over to the dark side, I'd collect these Micro Machines if they are still those tiny little things I picture them being.

Scored a walmart with 4 dump bins that didn't look like they've been touched

And now the next guy can't say the same. :P

I had similar expirence in the store I hit the other day... the bin was so full I went and grabbed a cart and pretty much emptied the bin into the cart... one manager was giving me a very dirty look and told me "you can't do that" to wich I replied with an elevated finger and continued digging... as I emptied the cart back into the bin the stockers in the toy section started laughing and digging with me...

@a6m5,

I wasn't sure about it either but as a certified Z-car NUT it was on my must have list regardless...
after having my hands on it the only issues I have with it are the fact that they've put a skyline style tail light panel in place and they should have put the headlight covers for G-nose on it... (irritating that the standard 240Z from a couple years ago has the covers with bulk open grill but the aero friendly G-nose is lacking them)

I can try to get some decent pics if someone wants but I figured enough of us have posted pics that they'd be a waste of bandwidth

That's what I do, grab a cart and start throwing them in. I've had people comment "you buying all of those?". My answer is always "nope, this is the only way to get to the bottom". Never had any employee issues though.

Personally, I'd let it ride. I almost feel sorry for miserable people like that. It's almost funny too, because in my neck of the woods, I've actually had ladies start chatting up with me, or start looking through pegs & dump bins with me, so in your face, loser store guy! :D

Sounds like your pic may have different perspective than other casual observer though. I don't come in here everyday, so I'm not sure if I've seen any pics of that Z in here, but that's on me.

I myself have yet to have anything other than a happy "someone must be a collector" come out of an employee's mouth.

Yeah that kinda luck? It doesn't happen to me.

It wouldn't be nice to respond to workers negatively, because all that does is strengthen their negative image of you and other collectors. Responding with this:

nope, this is the only way to get to the bottom

will mean more to a manager (who actually does his/her job) than it does to you.

Plus, as someone who works in retail, they already have to put up with a lot of crap by lousy employees they can't speak up about. Try not to give them a harder time than they already have to deal with.

I would have just told them it was inappropriate for them to say such a thing and that they should stick around because I'll be back with a manager to discuss what they said.

I wish I remembered about the USPS & Customs in L.A. when I was watching San Andreas. Aww, what an added incentive & enjoyment it would've brought to the film.....

Edit: For those wondering; International packages that arrive via San Fran usually takes half the time the packages that arrives through L.A. If it goes through L.A., it's going to take roughly week longer for me.

Same. Some may give me dirty looks, but I've never seen it, because my eyes are fixed on the cars. It's a disease.

Welcome to Oregon.
For me it's rare that an employee even walks near me when I have my head in a bin or at the pegs. But when it does happen at the pegs it's usually whenever cars are getting knocked down left and right because of how tightly packed they can be.

If you've got those tall narrow bins divided into halves, what I do is I start digging on one side by piling up the stuff on one half. When I've been through that, I go to the other side using the now-empty half as the place to put them back in.

That Seagrave's from long time ago, isn't it? Still, I love that casting. I also see what you mean now about the rear on the Z. Still very cool. 👍
