Japanese collectors on Twitter's been posting this car. Makes me jealous....

Love this guy's style. :drool:đź‘Ť

Anybody else interested in participating? Any collectors with collection large enough to select your favorite ten are welcome. I'm asking for your favorite(desert island) top ten, why you chose them & pics of each cars.

If interested, please let me know, I will send invite from the dedicated convo thread. Thank you!

Please let me in!!

Interesting, I'll admit that the flakes are indeed too big, but it really never bugged me.
I share this guy's view, to be duly honest. I can see why would it bother those who love to take up-and-close photos of those cars (heck, I did that with the Caddy), as they stand out too much just for the sake of "dazzling it up". Still, my eye tends to be directed towards other details most of the time... Call me quirky, but that's how I roll.
I would say personal taste. It bugs the hell out of me, but from what I've seen, I am in the minority on this.

But I'm right. j/k
Is this an 1/64 scale model?
I'm big on new Mazda designs right now, and expectation grew on Oversteer brand after seeing their Atenza/Mazda 6:

I just paid for the new Miata/Roadster yesterday, and it should be shipping soon. I can not wait.
Is that a variation of purple? j/k :dopey:
I would love to take part in your melee but due to really pressing schedules don't want to make promises and let you down.
Let me say, however, that you do such great work in this thread, and your collection is absolutely phenomenal now. Sticking to 1:64s has really paid off for you in terms of variety and quality.
Your nephew must be insanely jealous. :dopey: đź‘Ť
No problem, thanks for letting me know. Also, thank you for the compliments. đź‘Ť

P.S. My nephews will get to see my collection when they are young adults. I don't trust them until then. I know what their father was like with my stuff when we were kids!
Please let me in!!
We are glad to have you! I will send you a invite shortly. **Please read the first post for guidelines** Thank you!

Of course, I am not hating you for having that opinion, after all that's what makes a true collector. A scrub such as myself, who hasn't seen many examples of paint flakes in 1/64 cars, can't really say much about such a habit.

I wouldn't say you are part of a minority, Andy is also a part of it. Therefore, it can no longer deemed as a minority, but rather a majority (because he holds so much knowledge within his personal experience)...

Ah yes, those gorgeous new Atenzas/6es, how could I forget? Not many scale models of them exist in the market, but Oversteer's makes that fact nearly meaningless just by how good they made theirs. It's cars like those that prove why Mazda was smart to hire Interallied for creating promotional scale models...

Also, enjoy that Miata, you lucky sod. Be sure to come armed with great pictures, otherwise I won't forgive you. :P

Me & Andy? That would be a vocal minority! :dopey:

Agreed. Pretty nifty move by Mazda Sales PR. đź‘Ť

P.S. When I post the car, I would do probably do about ten shots. Ten thousands, tops.

Shipping to UK with no tracking took 10 days. Apok, air mail is a considerable choice if you ever shop here in the future đź‘Ť

Going to K day then going to the Chicago auto show after :)

I was extremely tempted to go to the Toronto Auto Show today as I heard about the '96 McLaren F1 GTR being present.

But it turns out it's just the FINA livery and not the Launch Car.

Here's a mystery for the TLV guys:
When the Volume 1 of the TLV Encyclopedia was published, there was a page showing photos of upcoming releases for 2009. All were eventually released except one--this Violet/710 2-door sedan, which looks production-ready in the pictures. I have no idea what happened to it, and the odds of it ever seeing the light of day are probably slim 7 years later.

I swung by my local store while out and about today and didn't see anything worth mentioning. In fact most of the cars I see posted above were nowhere to be found.

I do like the gray Chevelle. I think that's all I'd get, unless they had some mainline cars we can't find out here(:().

I shopped around for that book briefly, but they were too much money. I am so jealous.

2-Door Violet is a great find(& mysterious). I'll do some digging on that in Japanese Google. I recall you posting that 4 Model Turbo set last year? Volume 2 of that Japanese Car Era series took a few years. Maybe there is still hope for the 2-Door Violet.

Edit: I should ask you, would you be interested in doing a desert island 1/64 cars with us? If interested, please let me know. Thanks!

The asking prices are insane. Last year, I picked up Vol. 2 on eBay from a Japanese seller for $48, which was way low. Apparently it was a mistake because he immediately re-listed another for $168!

Sure, I'm in.

I'll consider doing the top 10 car list....if I can even go through my collection. X_x

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but I'll be honest, I never really had a model I wanted badly from the Tomica Premium line. But might go for this Celica GT-Four. :dopey:

*jaw drops* Yeah, $48 sounds very reasonable, even for Volume 2. Volume 1, they rarely even come up on American sites.

Nice! I will send you a a invite to the dedicated thread. Please see the first post for guidelines. đź‘Ť

If I was able to do it, so can you! :D Actually *checks list* I have the ten, but it is going to be tweaked. Yes, it wasn't easy going through all the cars in the collection, then narrowing it down to ten. I think I had little over 20 cars I wanted to go with & by the final 13 or so, it was challenging. :D

I will send you a invite to the convo, please check out the first post & see if it'll interest you. :)
Celica GT-Four. :dopey:
That sold out quickly on amiami. That is the best pic of it I've seen yet. I kinda want it now. :dopey:

Looks to still be on sale on amiami and it's released?

I'd jump on that Kevin, if I were you. They go FAST, and they rarely come back in stock.

I just checked, but my monthly order just shipped out today, so I can't combine it with my order? If it's there again in March, Id' do it, but the chance it's going to be there again then is a long shot. Thanks anyway for the tip! đź‘Ť
we only got one case, but that one case had a super.

 How many is that so far for 2016?

There are only two on all of Yahoo Japan. Note the Buy It Now price on the second one(!)

Oh, is that all. :dopey:

I don't know what kind of condition it's in, but the first one wih 13 hours left has nice starting bid price. I'm gonna have to get in on Yahoo Japan one of these days!
@a6m5, first one so far, I can't believe it's taken so long! haha
*repeat grumpy cat meme*

Generally, condition is stated as "please observe photos" and said photos have been taken with a potato. Luckily, Japanese sellers are usually pretty good about delivering satisfactory items.

Just posted in my blog something you don't see everyday. Interesting car I got WAY back in the day:

gmp Corvette C5R

It looks great!

No, it doesn't.

More pics. I don't know, you decide.

Sometimes, you get sellers who use one megapixel potatoes, which results in crap pictures that are also too small. lol

Actually it looks quite good, from the back. What is going on with the front though?
I think they bit off little more than they could chew. If they followed through with it, it could have been in contention for my desert island ten cars. Found it while going through my collection looking for my top ten cars. :D

This looks like a car that was taken to the Ring so they could test smashing it into every barrier.
Its very gruesomeness makes it a collectible. Hold on to it. (Gently. The doors might come off. )

From what I'm hearing - the World, in a few short decades, would have dominantly converted to electric cars, probably half of them self-drive. These models of ours - gas-guzzlers, styled with a combustion engine in mind - at that time would be unique, strange, a reminder of some neolithic past.

Here's a Motormax Lexus ( D114) - quite ancient.
