It would be hard to say "no" to the black one.

And I do agree, the black Supra looks interesting with its color-coordinated rims. Either way, it's your call, but it would make for an interesting comparison.

The thought has crossed my mind. It's just that $52 is a lot of money for one that came in a heavily damaged box.

Which is why you should keep it in my opinion; yes, the box is damaged, but the car sure isn't... And it's a rare one to boot, which helps its case. Then again, that's my five cents on the matter...

International shipping is a bastard.
Depends. From Japan to U.S., it's REALLY reasonable. Sometimes, cheaper than domestic shipping inside U.S.

From U.S. to overseas? It's frigging nuts it's so expensive. Welcome back yabi. 👍

I won't let you down!

It's your five cents(or two) versus my $52 Hugo!

ah, new page. I can share something without it being completely overshadowed by the Kenmeri.

Alright, ganbatte! I'm sure you'll do just fine if you ever get your hands on a new TLV Supra.

Just don't forget; since your wallet will probably allow it, I want to see the best possible Silvia Silhouette post once it arrives at your household... :sly:

Well yes, it's hard to argue against 50 bucks, I take back what I said. Still, you either let go of the car you sought after for so long and get those 52 bucks back, or keep the car and let it build more value...

I've ordered the beige one, it was quite easy actually.
Really? That one actually look nice too though. 👍
Especially with your super sweet exchange rates! The Aussie dollar is complete crap in comparison. :(
I know, as you are aware, I refrain from bring this up with you. Because I feel bad.

:P :embarrassed:

No shot of the body raised on the funny car! I feel shortchanged!

If it ever happens.... Me & Jarrod's been waiting on that thing for something like a year now, I think.

That brings up an interesting point.... I'm somewhat familiar with secondary market/collectible value on hot wheels, but I'm totally ignorant on Tomicas. To be honest, I would be surprised if it goes up much higher in the near future. I'm of the impression that I bought the car "high" at $42(+$10 ship). I guess time will tell. It's hard to gauge, because we almost never see one here. One I bought is the only one I ever saw on eBay or Amazon. They can be found on Japanese sites, but I don't follow their trend.

Yeah, that and the red Suzuki Fronte are the only ones I've ordered. Beige Supra looks rad, love the two tone. :embarrassed:

It'll be a year in May! That's when they revealed the silvia silhouette prototypes at that hobby show. Freakin, May!

I've told you before, but IMO, TLV Fronte is one of their best castings. It'll become one of your favorite cars, instantly.

I still want the later version with the pop-up lights. I hope it'll be out by the summer.

I don't doubt that. Not too much longer to wait for it. 👍

Don't get me started on that one! We'll be here for another year.

It does have one weak point--depending on how thick the paint job is, all the vents on the engine lid can get covered up, whereas on the real car they are quite prominent. I've had it happen more on the yellow and green versions than others.

...... I've never even noticed them there before. Still very cool casting though.

Oh Shinji-san, you're so impatient... Spacegoat said it right, it's meant to be a May release, so be serene like a sakura garden. It's not like you lack the funds, am I right? :sly:

Ken
Lamley just posted pictures of the new RLC '63 Studebaker Champ, and my is it gorgeous!

Mmm, red wall tires... You are right, it's a rather gorgeous classic pickup, not bad.👍
It's a shame that it probably commands high prices in the scale model market, I assue...

Spark is still committing to 1:64s:

McLaren Honda MP4-30 n.14 Spanish GP 2015 Model with Driver (Fernando Alonso)
McLaren Honda MP4-30 n.22 Chinese GP 2015 Model with Driver (Jenson Button)
Red Bull RB9 n.1 2013 World Champion Model with Driver (Sebastian Vettel)
Mercedes W06 n.44 Winner USA GP 2015 World Champion Model with Driver (Lewis Hamilton)

On a lesser note:

2015 Explorers Land Rover Defender 110 (Swamp Tours)

Meh stuff. Finally found one. Glad I didn't cave in for a $3.25 USD one on the web last year.

So I have decided to ditch all of my TLV's that are not Nissan. If anyone here is interested, let me know. If not, they go up on eBay Sunday night.

I also have a 1/43 Nissan GT-R LMP1 available for $40. :P

Got a list? Mainly looking for Toyota's.

Alright, I've had it with this thread. I'm going to challenge the status quo and bring forth the revolution!
As my first act against the ruling class, I'm posting these pictures of a 1/87 model!

latest

:P
Seriously though, I was really curious as to what these Schuco 1/87s are like. Schuco have a pretty impressive catalog of cars in that scale. It's the race cars I really like, because there's usually a nice choice of different liveries for each car. Or at least that was the case with the BMW 320i I got.
Could have gotten the Jagermeister, but I already have the Kyosho, so why not mix it up a bit?
(also, the Jagermeister was more expensive)

@a6m5 Paint flakes! :dopey:

It looks really nice actually, but some comparison shots are probably in order.

That's a pretty huge size difference, especially considering that the Kyosho BMW 320i is not exactly a massive casting (I'm fairly sure it's actually a bit smaller than 1/64).

And another comparison shot with a model more of you may be familiar with.

Yeah, that's the Hot Wheels, but some hack decided to modify it. :P

Okay, now for my thoughts. It's a really nice model considering the scale. There are a few areas where it actually beats out the Kyosho, such as the tampos. Might not be visible all that well on the pictures, but you can actually see some orange through the white parts of the tampos. This is probably not Kyosho's fault, as that orange is a lot brighter than the gold on the Schuco. Kind of wish I had the Jagermeister Schuco for comparison now.

However, since the Kyosho is bigger, they could get away with using some separate parts to make it look better. The taillights are separate clear red pieces and look far better than the printed red blocks on the Schuco. Same with the little spoiler thing (?) at the back end of the roof. That's a separate piece on the Kyosho and a part of the body on the Schuco. This should be a good thing, but sadly there's a visible mark where the plastic piece was detached from the sprue... which I didn't take a picture of, naturally. Trust me, it's there though and I prefer the Schuco in this regard.

One negative about the Schuco is the prominent intake on the rear end of the car. The one that's part of the widebody. It's not even there on the Schuco! It's not that small a detail and it looks really good on the Kyosho, but Schuco didn't even paint it black or anything. Lame!

To be honest though, in the end it's all a bit pointless as they're two different scales and unfortunately for Schuco, I'll always prioritize 1/64 over anything else. The final nail in the coffin for Schuco 1/87 however is the price. These cars are often as expensive if not more expensive than similar 1/64s, so I just don't think it's worth it.

Though I should mention that the Schuco comes with a rather nice display case that Kyoshos lack.

I really like the display case because it has a really nifty system to attach the car to the base.

The little plastic piece slots into the groove on the car and using a little wing bolt style system you just turn it 90 degrees and it securely attaches the car. Really cool, as I have a lot of cars I like to display without the bases so have a lot of tiny screws laying around that I'll probably lose.

EDIT:
Bit the bullet and got a 1/64 Schuco. Look forward to that sometime next week maybe.

Apok, you heretic! Can't you see that such a revolution can destroy all the hard and credible work that had been done up to this point, to preserve this thread's status as a 1/64 thread!?

I kid, of course, it's nice to have some variety in terms of size. Besides, there aren't any threads for cars smaller than 1/64 scale, only for bigger ones. So it's not like you broke an universal law or anything. :P
As for the Beemer, shame that the Jagermeister livery puts more price into the casting, 'cause that's one of the best BMW liveries in history. You have to admire all these beautiful beer-based sponsors from back in the day... And it is a shame that Shuco had to sacrifice plenty of tiny (no pun intended :dopey:) details while converting the car to 1/87 size, but I guess that is the price to pay for cutting costs whenever you can.

I will say this, though; I would love to see that "wing bolt base" in bigger scale models which feature plastic bases, as I also have the same problem as you do, Apok. Hate having to remember where I place some of the screws for half of my 1:43 and 1:18 models, screws which are probably lost forever...

That's just how the secondary market works I guess. I got this one for around 10€, but the Jagermeister would set me back 15!
I could have been more patient and waited for a better price maybe, but that requires self control and patience.

15!? Jesus, that's half-assed 1/43 car money, much less 1/64... Perhaps some sellers would be oblivious to the Jager's value, but as you said, searching for them would require patience and self control...

...and that's clearly not something we are known for, now is it?

Sakura..... is in April!
Those CRX's are worth some coin, especially the early one.
If you give it time. Last couple of weeks, it's been low. I didn't like the finish on the taillight on the one I have, so I bought another one..... For $21-ish(sniper bid).

Only when they are oversized to scale. That is a thing of beauty. 👍

I can't wait!

It's probably still around. Seems they aren't popular enough to sell out.

Also... "1/43 Ignition Supra MK3". Think you will be hooked.

I do like that MK3 Supra, saw it some time ago when you guys were talking about Ignition in the Scale Model thread. Haven't been to the local flea market in months, so I decided to have a quick look. Turns out a bunch of vendors brought in some early 2000's HW's.
