Does everything you get from outside the EU get taxed? Here we have a limit of (I think) 22€. We don't pay import tax for anything under that which isn't much, but luckily it's enough to get the TLV's that I want at least.

Hmm... I did a quick research (using the university's desktops because screw working in class :dopey:), and apparently we are also exempt from IRS taxes for purchases below 22€, unless they are tobacco and/or oil derivatives (which pay a special consuption rate). However, if you go above that limit, you have to pay the IRS rate. And that is a dangerous border, since Super Silhouettes go far and above 20 euros... At best, you'll buy them for 60-plus€. And TLV SS models are highly-ranked in my wish list, in case you couldn't tell.

Found the blue Tesla at a Walmart, was the only one there

Then finally found the C6R at a Meijer. It was the only one on the pegs too.

Well I was messing around with my Hot Wheels Auto City 10 pack a while back and I discovered something.

The trailer on this truck tilts back!
IMG_1674.JPG
If you put your finger between the cab and the trailer itself and gently push it back, it will slide out of the socket on the cab and like that you can tilt it like a dump truck! :D
IMG_1729.JPG

Don't try that with the oil refinery truck though.
IMG_1663.JPG
Not much to see, but the end result was this. I don't know what I was thinking, but I tried that with this one since it had the same socket, but turns out it doesn't tilt back at all. :dunce: (Of course, what sense does a tilting oil truck make anyway?) Thankfully I didn't bend the post, but the plastic rivet come off (which you can see in the photo) and now it doesn't stay in place as easily. Nothing a little hot glue can't fix though.

Point is, if you somehow get lucky enough to find one of these, don't make the same mistake I did.

inished the volume two in the "Desert Island" series. Interesting choice of cars from @AOS- I expected no less of course. Thanks Andy!
What can I say? After playing, listening, reading and seeing Japanese so many times, I have compiled quite the collection of Japanese words and expressions. (I could say that only anime is good enough for that, but I'd be both lying and being sterotypical in that regard)
My key issue is stringing them all into cohesive sentences, but at least I know I'm not using said words and expressions out of context... At this rate. between my American English self and my Nihonjin self, it'll be difficult to find where the Portuguese in my person is.
You are telling me. My brain was made & programmed in Japan, and while I've lived in the U.S. far longer than I lived in Japan, it's still making adjustments to English language to this day.
Couldn't have said it better myself; for vintage JDM, TLV stil has the bases covered. Their lines include the rarest, the quirkiest and prettiest metal in all of Japan. But as far as modern cars go, Oversteer is quickly becoming a threat to them. Good detailing, nice bases... Just add more models, and spruce up the proportions, and Oversteer will get godlike at this 1/64 biz.
I realize that they co-produce these castings with Interallied, but I wish I could learn little bit more about their relationship. I wonder, together, if they have enough production/manufacturing muscle to compete with the likes of Kyosho? On the other hand, if I was Kyosho, I'd be looking for ways to buyout those two & boost their competitive edge.
there is one base that works even better than the standard Oversteer base. Which one? This one;
OVE-MAZROA-RED-01.jpg

The Mazda dealer set ND base. I mean just look at that, now that is worthy of being hung up in a wall and framed. Ok, so it lacks some of the flavour text that Oversteer's base has, but it makes up for that by including the original Mazda badge text font. Being more accurate than that seems like a tough act to follow...
I actually prefer the stock base, but point taken. It must be worth some money, too. One of the best casting around, very rare & corporate tie with Mazda sales.
@a6m5 - うらやましいぞ! おまえが大嫌いよ!:grumpy:

You won't be the only one having that.

Why can't April come sooner?!
Try "おまえが大嫌いだ!!", but you made me laugh. Good one.

P.S. I wish these were readily available everywhere & everybody had one. It's super cute & cool at the same time!

Interesting selection? Well the first few were. The rest were all about scarcity. There's no story behind those. :P

It's tough conditioning your personality to Hot Wheels's scalpers, White Castle and Cars & Cofee meets, ne? :sly::lol:

Joke aside, I can certainly understand how tough it must be for a Japanese to adapt to a whole new set of cultural and geographical spaces and/or characteristics. Japan is a tight but friendly place, but 'Murica is a massive new world chock full of everything imaginable...

Well, from what I gather, Interallied rules over a group of smaller original brands, which work all under its "rule"; you have 1/64 Oversteer, the 1/43 brands Hi-Story and Modeler's (the first responsible for more "normal" models, the latter responsible for resin models and famous for being the most proficient Vision GT scale model maker with four different cars in their lineup), the sea specialist Ocean Voyage and the Monochrome brand.

Generally speaking, Oversteer is the Tomica Limited Vintage to Interallied's Tomica; a brand which specializes in a specific scale model type and size, but follows the main company's code of development...

Well by itself it may not be worth much more than the normal release (unless you try to spike the price up by trying to make the corporate ties to Mazda fancier), but in the full set, it will certainly be worth a pretty penny...

Saw this TLV release come up on Twitter(August).

They also had Nissan President, and thankfully, it's the old timer President unlike the current gen they chose to go with for Toyota Century.

What!? Actually, we don't get White Castle in my area. :grumpy:

Way they worded the association caught my attention. I may look into this little bit more.

I'd think the Mazda corporate release would be scarce, but you maybe right about the demand. Oversteer doesn't have the following other larger brands do.

Oh damm it all to hell Tomica, stahp! For the love of my wallet and decision-making, stahp! It's already bad enough that I venere the Galant VR-4 due to the good career I had with it on GT4, much less with you releasing a 1/64 model of it decked in that wonderfully vintage Ralliart livery...👍

What's next, the AMG-tuned Galant!?

Edit: Well, apparently there will also be a "road-going Monte Carlo edition" version, so I guess I should just shut up now. And check Twitter more often, haha. At this rate, we could even see a Diamante AMG casting!

...what? I like the Diamante, I find it to be an interesting car...

They also had Nissan President, and thankfully, it's the old timer President.

So it's the one from the 1990's? Ergo, this one?
2002-nissan-president_800x0w.jpg

Or is it even older than this?

Another edit, go figure: As Twitter has proven, it is even older than this;
ym08369.jpg

Darn that's just about the most vintage 1970's JDM luxury metal you can find. It looks rather good, actually. Why did Tomica chose to do the old President when the Century didn't get the same treatment?

What!? Actually, we don't get White Castle in my area. :grumpy:

Oops, guess not. I should have gone with the classic McDonalds reference instead...

Feel free to do so, I am sure that your Japanese written comprehension skills are eons better than mine. That way, we can figure this out a bit better.

Precisely, so far only the gloating reviews from 829Japan.com and Lamley are what the international crowd knows about Oversteer. Give it a few more years and perhaps even the standard release could be worth $50 for all I know..

I bought these cars from a Croatian ebayer whose auctions @AOS- posted here.

Kyosho

DyDo

And a TLV. 👍

And to finish this post, a while ago I posted that I bought a 1:64 Schuco to see what they're like. Here are the pictures.

It's nice
in theory, I guess.
What I mean by that is that the two tone paint job with accurate details is nice and the car has a lot of separate parts and it seems to be relatively well proportioned (except from the front grille which seems off to me). Someone in quality control clearly fell asleep on this one. The gray and black paint is chipped in FOUR different places (you can see the base red paint), both the front right light and the rear bumper are crooked, the paint on the wheels is also chipped and the chrome shows through and none of the tires were sitting on the rim properly when I got it (though that is easy enough to fix).
And it doesn't even come with a display case like the 1:87 cars.
Sure, maybe I got unlucky and most of them are perfectly fine, but I somehow doubt it and I certainly won't be buying these from the internet anymore. Super lame. 👎

Never have I seen so many perfect castings:drool:

Snap. He even had the Dydo Hakosuka. How was the auction war? Tame?

I don't know, as I didn't see most of it.
I just bid on a load of stuff (mostly within the 8-10$ range) and left it at that.
I think there was some fierce competition for some of the more popular pieces. I recall the Kyosho E30 fetching quite a pretty penny.
I still came out with some really cool stuff. As I've said before I'm not a big JDM enthusiast, but all three of the ones I got are really cool. The Hakosuka looks mean and has great presence, the Celica is a classic and as @Spacegoat pointed out the color is really cool. And well the Alto is a TLV. I think it's nearly impossible to dislike a TLV, they're ridiculous. And the car itself has really grown on me as well. It's so tiny and cute!

Having said all that though, the Daytona and Alfa look so good in black.
Apart from all the dust I had to photoshop off. I swear it's impossible to clean those things for more than a millisecond. :ouch:

450 Philippine Pesos is 10 USD. And mind you, I bought that from a major toy store, which meant that the distributor put up a hefty sum over the SRP. Because rubber tires, and because special edition. :P

Damn. I just might have to grab that.

Does it seem like there's a bit too much junk in the trunk? Or is that just me?
