A shame, as what they did make really impressed me.

As an owner of plenty, I completely agree:

The two cut off at the top were passed off to two other members here so they too could hear the word about Glory- Glorious mini cars.

Already got both of those cars, coincidentally, they were both on Jarrod's Desert Island list

Guess we three can form a circle called JSA in that case. Jungle Savouring Appetizers. It makes no relatable sense, but it's better than SAJ; Sucks At Jokes.

Couple of things for this month. TLV Crazy Ken's Car Club Vol 2 Nissan Cedric and I finally decided to grab this Datsun Fairlady, which had been sitting on my AmiAmi watch list for ages.

And with it's Crazy Ken stable mate Bellett. Hopefully we won't have to wait another two years between releases for this series.

This is the 18 Matchbox I got the other day.

Love the Golfs and 350Z's. Sweet haul mate. 👍

I always knew that Andy had impeccable taste!

Hey, it's the Yokohama Marinos! Shunsuke Nakamura's former J-Soccer team...

...what? I am not a fan of soccer, but I do know about both the Marinos and Nakamura. The latter may or not be related to the fact that any Google search can also bring up professional wrestler (and now WWE employee) Shinsuke Nakamura (can you spot the linguistic difference?), buuut that probably doesn't matter as much...

Either way, cool truck, the soccer ties make it a bit more unique than most entreprenurial trucks out there. 👍

No, not a rookie, but since I get into little bit of everything, I feel like I am a noob every time I start researching another brand, or another series of release.

I wouldn't say that is being a noob, but rather a living encyclopedia. Sure, some may think that those two are undistinguishable, but being a real noob would involve knowing jack squat about a brand. That's what I think, at least...

I don't get into the European stuff much, which is what keeps this community interesting for me. I also don't get into vintage hot wheels, they have that in here, too. Always delightful to see what other collectors are up to. 👍

So it's a good thing that all these Europeans hang around to give you a grand tour of our automotive world, huh? And then all the kind HW collectors that stick around, eager to showcase their pride and joy... They are all welcome, and they all breath much need variety into this thread. Nothing wrong with showcasing only Hot Wheels cars mind you, but as they say, variety is the spice of life, right? ;)👍

If I get a bad headache, I use it as an excuse to take the day/night off. :P Of course, if you have pending work or schooling, that would make it tough... Hope you are doing good now! :D

Don't we all do that? :P  Fortunately, I am feeling much better, taking a nice journey around town doing groceries with my mother helped that a great deal. In fact, once I'm done writing this massive reply, I am going to have lunch and then get right to write my Desert Island Cars list! :D

For me, Kakashi, with Andy form our KIA. No, they weren't killed, or build Korean cars. Kyosho-Intelligence Agency. I wouldn't have as many Kyoshos if it weren't for those two. :D

Well, now I know who to call if I'm need of a Kyosho. Clearly, it's a job for the GHOSTBUSTERS!!! KIA!👍 Thanks for the accidental tip, Shinji-san, but if I'm need of Tomicas I'll be giving you a call instead. Ok, I'll give both you and Japan Booster's Akiyo-san a call; you sell their cars figuratively, while Akiyo-san does that literally...

Hugo, anytime you got a target casting/releases & you go on a search for it, it's a "hunt". And it was a success!
Calling me on a first name basis, Shinji-san? I'm honored.

That aside, I do suppose that you are correct; getting specific with these "hunts" is what makes them hunts after all. And yes, I am very proud and happy to have had not one but two sucessful hunts for cars I like. Thank God for that!

To end; fantastic Cedric stock car racer, @Spacegoat. Crazy Ken may be crazy in name, but he knew his car choices... Just look at that colored 69 (oh dear god that sounds so wrong  )!

(Taken from here if you want to know what the F)

Oh shut up you, everyone should be 69ing. Cedric 69 (own)ing, that is! :sly:

@Sonygamer455 - I know you have one because you showed it in here before. ;)
But I have 2 - one in the card (that's the *koff 'collectors item') and the other to play with. I really like that model and quite often carry it around with me; it has traveled many miles with me and also several yards on various surfaces.
It just happened to park on my art desk a few weeks ago since I came home straight from work and sat there and emptied my pockets.
The Tooligan and Carbonator are always around on some desk but recently travelled over to my art desk and seem to be stuck there.
Christine's been around on that desk for some time, too - but the Arctic Racer is new.
The cars move around depending on what I'm doing, I guess. (There is a Ferrari in my bed. Better than a horse's head.)

The Arctic Racer is there to spur my imagination - I have a huge bunch of 'snow' related models now and want to put together an 'Arctic' racing diorama. The way the Arctic is fading away we'll be racing there soon. :dopey:

The problem holding me back? Trying to find time to go buy several sacks of sugar.

They are both new releases & they go for just $2.99!(Kroger stores) Looks much cooler than the $6 GL Bandits to me. :dopey:

I didn't even know this one existed until I saw it in the TLV encyclopedia. Apparently a promotion or giveaway with the Yokohama soccer team. I've never seen one for sale on Yahoo Japan. This one came from Hong Kong.
Great find. I've been seeing more & more of these exclusive release type stuff surfacing, but yeah, I've never seen this one either. Very special score! 👍

I think so, love variety. And there are collectors who are Mattel-heavy, or Kyosho-heavy, and I love that, too. Variety of not just cars, but bring on the variety of collectors with different habits & styles. :D

You.... are brave. I had chance to read little bit of that, and all I can say is that there is a chance that certain upside down space animal could be flying to Portugal. To put a hurt on our favorite anime fan in that country.

Nice knowing you Hugo. :nervous:

Yes, thanks for the link. I was completely lost.

Welcome to my reaction to that entire thing, good sir, glad of you to join me. Nothing like ancient PS1 games with equally ancient English translations...[/QUOTE]

Hey, I did translate what that half-Russian, half-German sterotype just said, you can't accuse me of swearing! As I said, everyone should be 69 (Cedric own)ing, the guy just didn't have the time to finish that entire sentence... :sly:

Well I do not know GL's Black Bandits all that well, but I must say, M2 is certainly going down the right path to challenge their supremacy. That paint finish is something else... And they're not that expensive either, which adds to their (already massive) appeal. Tasteful and badass; keep them coming, M2.👍

Thank God for that, that's what I say. I wouldn't have known so much about 1/64 cars if it weren't for the variety of cars here. The different collectors and what makes them tick also make for interesting comparisons and friendships, which of course leads to ventures such as your Desert Island list. And that is great, seeing collectors' different ways of setting up dream lists with their own cars! 👍

Nice knowing you Hugo. :nervous:

Just a little bit? Hopefully you have had the time to read a little more of it, I know I did write a lot of things but they will make for some interesting readings. Or so I hope, at least.

Also, I don't fear space animals. Things like space Gundams are the true scary thing for me... Or space kazoos. No one should mess with a space kazoo, it might drill a black hole into your ears. That's one of my lifelines...

Don't forget the Lamley Blog!

Of course, they are also my "personal advisors". A bit like you, really.

I'm nobody dude. NOBODY!

So are you like Rom Stol from Machine Robo of Victory, and I don't deserve to know your name? :dopey:

It's been a while since I've bought some regular old Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars. I was really put off by the bad quality and weird quirks that some castings have (the hated upturned chin for example). Though I've gotten a bit of appreciation for them again.

The Falken livery looks really good and Hot Wheels have been releasing quite a few cars sporting it. And of course this particular casting is a favorite. Only issue with my example is the little splotch of blue paint on the front right, but I can probably polish that out.

A look through the tiny Matchbox bin also yielded this little gem.

I recently saw the 4C at Geneva and it's a very likable car. Matchbox have done a lovely job recreating it. I really like the paint in particular, it looks great even if my crappy camera can't show it (look at that amazing chromatic aberration on the front wheel  ).
The only real downside is the interior, which looks a little odd. The whole interior looks like it sits too low and the engine seen through the rear window is just a featureless box. Still a very good effort though.

That was all for new purchases, but I figured I might as well showcase something older to make the post worthwhile.

Going with what I said about the Falken livery...

You.... are brave. I had chance to read little bit of that, and all I can say is that there is a chance that certain upside down space animal could be flying to Portugal.

It's that good, huh? :mischievous:

Seriously, looking forward to seeing your list Hugo. 👍

I like to call @a6m5 the "Japanese Lamley" myself. :P

I will, before I put the post together. And this space animal, I did mention that he is upside down, right!? I know how mobilesuits work from Gundam. How do you defend yourself from upside down space animals!? :nervous:

It's one casting you've been passionate about lately & it's tossed aside with no hesitation.

It is a good thing you have not passed my text to the blog post, because I had a brief look at it and noticed quite a few dangerous blunders (for example, I referred to Majorette as a "Spanish company" when in reality they are French) which would look incredibly awkward... :dunce:

As for them space animals, I'll just grab a flux capacitor and flip their world upside down again, therefore cancelling the effects of their dangerous fighting style. Zing! :D

Just to put it in perspective:

I beg to differ, as you are only one or two tiers below John, buuut if you say so... :P

Hard core, Hugo. Hard core.
D'oh, of course. Now it makes sense! :dunce: 👍!!
Don't worry, I blurred out the details.
I could swear I've seen this one before.

You make me smile. :)
When I want authentic replica quality I look to spend more than a dollar - I look at names like AUTOart, CM, Exoto, et al. These I would look at closely for quality - the quality I expect when I spend anything from $20.00 to $80.00.
The 'hated lip' is quite a favourite characteristic of Hot Wheels $1.00 car buyers - we buy them for a whole different reason than to pretend they are die-cast replicas - keep an eye on that Camino:

The quality we are looking for above, as one may guess, is virtual indestructibility.
You don't put a CM or even a Kyosho through that kind of treatment. :scared:

Though I've gotten a bit of appreciation for them again.

MBX stays irresistible to long time collectors like you and me - there is some mystical schtick about it that always gets us; some of the models they make (and considering the price again) are real value and stand up well against scrutiny. Not to compare with the likes of Siku, for instance, but MBX (at least the division of Mattel that is responsible) keeps a much tighter control on quality - they always have, even before they were acquired by Mattel.
Some MBX collectors still bear the pain - not being able to accept that they are now 'Hot Wheels' (kind of).

As for me, the attraction to MBX has always been for their commercial vehicles, but again the premium brands like TLV are coming out with some great models that are not only cars and prices seem to be stabilising - and that's good for the hard-core authentic replica die-cast collector whose models are pretty much akin to the way some people collect jewellery or watches or . . . like Leno or Seinfeld - real cars!

What gets me is 'presumers' and 'custowners'.
Model-makers are now using collectors to 'crowd-fund' their productions well before they are released - sort of testing the waters before actually even making the mold. In a sense, that is like preparing an item to be a 'collectible' even before it's made - a very strange concept indeed. :boggled:

Finally. Finally the Tomicarama I've wanted forever....

What do you mean 'finally'?
Was it difficult to acquire? I demand full details - I need several of those!

The heck with the building, the 410 is a set exclusive.
I figured as much. I think the Samba that came with the Shell gas station was same deal. Patrol car is much cooler than expected. 👍

Thanks to this manga from the 80's, the building set is something special to those who grew up over there during the era. It's iconic!
That Bluebird comes with the set? Sweet! 👍👍
It's really nice. 👍
It wasn't directed at you for once, I think that might have been a first!
*insert the regular grumpy cat meme*

:P

It was difficult, because it's scarce. Even in Japan, it's worth quite a bit of money. In the U.S., I think the cheapest I ever saw this one was $119 shipped?(looong time ago) For $119, I'd have gone for it, but many months later(maybe close to a year), Amazon seller dropped the price to just under $100 shipped, and I JUMPED on it. I am stoked.

Finally. Finally the Tomicarama I've wanted forever....

Wow, just when I thought your Tomicarama set was complete and amazing, you go and buy this... It just evokes all kinds of vintage imagery, and they are all good ones. The fact that it comes with a free Bluebird police car is just icing on the cake, great purchase. 👍

It's only funny because it's in the background. Otherwise, I'd been way out of line.

:P

Of course, that's not a problem. It's just that most people's eyes will be fixated in M2's fine Charger, because look at it! That is one car that is hard to miss, I dare say...

Did you already edit it?

Yes, feel free to post it now!

Ok, if you say so...

Hardcore and badass, Hugo. Hardcore and badass.

FTFY. You do not just respect Rom Stol, you fear him. And you will still not deserve to know his name!
