Oddly, the latest crop of UCC cars have shrunk in size, now on par with HW or Tomica cars.

Such a fun day. I'll be heading back home to Manila tomorrow, though...

@a6m5 @jtl46
That's a good news on scaling then, right? Great timing on the Benzes! 👍
Stupid question, but I have to ask.. Is that cold black coffee in those cans? Cool Mercedes BTW. Good choice. 👍

I happen to like *cold black coffee*.

*It's an acquired taste, that comes from years of forgetting you'd made yourself a coffee an hour ago.*
I tried all sorts of "ice coffee"(Japanglish) while I was a kid, but they were all sweetened.
It is cold black coffee. I just drank the two cans. The taste was unbearable.
Never mind(see above).
Well then, I'm going straight to hell, ain't I? :nervous:
That's strike two for you(j/k lol). One creme for me, but sometimes I go also with sugar, or just black. Flexible.
Got another one for the last minute:
Nice job. 👍

P.S. Just noticed on the can "no sugar". The cars are the sweeteners.

Quality of the wheels look pretty good. How do they compare to CM's?

They have impressive paint quality. The 190E is matte black, by the way.

The company who makes those UCC promo diecast cars for years deserves recognition. We'll never know the name...

Yeah okay. But how do the wheels of this UCC compare to the wheels of CM's?

I ordered them through A and J Toys. I took the the easy way.

A&J?? Seems you got lucky to get your set so quick as it looks like they're not going to be able to fulfill all their orders for these sets according to their FB page.

Seems like they bit more then they could chew and underestimated how much volume a mention from Lamley on his blog would bring his family business. Feel bad for him as he's getting roasted for the delays

That for me is a reason to worry because if Mattel is sending imcomplete orders to distributors then perhaps they really did underestimate the popularity of this set. So that means finding them on pegs will be even harder imo. So I'll be ordering a set asap so I can make sure I have at least one

I had mine ordered back in February.

I just went to their Facebook page and read their post. I kind of feel bad, because you're right, they had no idea how popular it was going to be. I'm glad I jumped on the wagon as early as I did. People have been finding them in Canada now for a month or so. I live 45 minutes from the border, but never made a trip over. I think I might try to go soon and look for the Euro set. Although I'm sure that'll bee just as popular.

So there's 4 maybe 5 h cases at a Walmart that I go to, I asked nicely if I can look in one of the opened cases a employee showed it to me then put it back on the pallet. I asked if he can dump in the bin but he said "we can't do partial cases". So I said ok, I'm waiting to see if they'll put it on the pegs or in a bin.

All excuses so they can go through it themselves.
I'm back at the store, hopefully they stocked them. Edit, asked a different employee and he dumped them in the bin. Picked up a gt350, 69 charger and black stingray corvette. No super or regular th.

Aaaaand survived another round of black coffee.

To think that a convenience store gave as much scale model cars as the actual hobby shops... Good on you, Lawson-san yo.

But joke aside, that GT is indeed very good-looking for a car one gets with a pair of canned coffee cans. The detailing is above basic Tomica cars, and the paint finish is pretty darn nice (although the lighting isn't exactly the best in order to judge such a thing... Still, great purchase, shame you didn't snap up the 300SL Millie Miglia too. 👍

As expected from a Japanese man living in North America, busting out the baseball references like a Hanshin Tigers fan in the Chicago Cubs' stadium... :sly:  But really, I think I'm up to strike 8th or 9th, haha! I drink decaff, can't withstand the sheer vicious blow of black coffee and normal coffee isn't really up to my liking either... I'm far from being a coffee enthusiast, or a flexible one for that matter. Caffeine-Free Man, away!

Now watch in shock as, one fated day, UCC will reveal that they hired an elite force comprised of ex-CM employees and offered them a portion of UCC's undoubtely monster profit to improve upon their older castings... That would be one hell of a story, eh?

I wish that Tomica would give the first-gen Luce coupe some love too... It's far from being an ugly car, that one.

Either way, impressive set of new cars, and looking forward to seeing that JL 280ZX, that's was unexpected to say the least. I do have one question; what is that white/grey portion on the car's design meant to be? A sign of a two-tone paint? A revised section of the casting?

It's two-tone paint. Looks as though it was a factory option:

Well that's one thing clarified, thanks for that. Bonus points for accuracy on that one, JL. But there was one thing that blew past me when I first saw the pic:

With huge rear tires! :indiff:

...yeeeah that doesn't look right at all. Unless JL wants to create a drag version of the 280, but even still...
Also, the chassis has rights reserved by TOMY International? The heck? That's the Takara-Tomy conglomerate, owner of the Tomica brand! They used that properly, so why couldn't JL do that as well?
