All the local kids, especially in the suburbs would have the Intel on pricing & availability, though I don't know how competitive Japanese pricing would be vs. Hong Kong.

That's something I would like to know. The shops here won't divulge that sort of info.

For example I have preordered the April Blue Porsche TLV.
The shop I am order it from says the Japan RRP is YEN2200 (USD19.00, HKD147.00).
The preorder price for me is HKD96.00 (USD12.38, YEN1431).
Amimi states the RRP is YEN2808 (USD24.31, HKD188.36)
Amiami preorder price is YEN1960 (USD16.96, HKD131.48)

Will the specialist toy shops in Japan be the same price as Amiami? Or are they similar price to Hong Kong?

I haven't been back in Japan since the 90's, but from what I've seen online, including pics of local prices, it would be hard to beat the what amiami have for preorder prices. I may have to find me a Hong Kong dealer. $12.38 is a killer deal on the TLV Porsche!

DaBoxtoys has stuff that range from very cheap to ridiculously expensive.

Remember the photo I posted recently, the store's interior? They have expanded because KenBox from Japan made that store its satellite branch. A lot of HK collectors would buy Tomicas from KenBox, so to make it more accessible and cheaper, KenBox has merged in to DaBoxtoys.

KenBox's main store is located in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

I hope their professionalism improve. I hate to whine about the store you like, but I have dealt with them on three separate occasions now: Transaction #1) Blemished base. #2) Blemished box. #3)Preorder placed in August with no contact whatsoever.

It's just been consistently bad. Granted; Blemishes on base or packaging might not matter to some, but it does to me. These cars are not exactly $1 basic mainlines. Plus, places I generally buy from, they'll never charge me full price with base w/big white spot, or box with art partially torn off. I'd appreciate it if they at least advertise it as such.

I emailed them over the weekend about the preorder from last summer & received no response. I just asked on their Facebook page, so maybe I'll finally hear something.

That's okay. I'm not too keen on DaBoxtoys anyway. I have been to better stores in HK.

Yeah DaBox is very slow on email responses. i did get my Ignition from them so no bad experiences on my end. They did however choose to stop taking preorders now since their system is not really a preordering system, and it is so elementary in planning.

Really digging the Tomica Nissan GT-R, "Ecoboost" Focus & the Focus rally. 👍

Dude. They didn't respond my email, and while I saw them replying posted messages on their Facebook pages, mine went unanswered. This was my third dealing with this shop & I would say that strike three is now complete. They said on their page now the Tarmac Idemitsu Civic is on sale, so I may just order that & call it good. What a bunch of flakes.

By no means do I care to defend DaBox. They used to be a source for Kyoshos, but now I would only use them as an alternative to Asian brand scale models.

Super Silhouettes are awesome, but man, the secondary market prices on the older ones!! :nervous:

I will have to retake this picture with the Silvias. The latest Silvia is still in transit for me. :(

Can't wait for that photo.

My first TLV purchase was the 1983 Silvia. It remains my favourite TLV.

Still have two Silhouettes to get to complete the set.

I don't know, I also like the SP1. Perhaps it's because of the livery, with its "Brazilianess" (not a word, yes) in color choices. The van's livery is too simplistic (and the grey isn't really a lovely color for such a vintage Vee-Dub), and the Baja-esque Bug doesn't really tickle my fancy either.

The 500 is awesome though, my personal favorite. And it's good to see it comes with a fixed open hood...

👍 I have a 1/43 collection of the similar DRM/Group 5's. Which i will photograph and post at some point. I had intended to expand it to include the Japanese Super Silhouettes and this post encouraged me to look some up on ebay. Might have to rethink it. The Skylines are between £100 and £600! - although the Bluebirds are a little more palatable at ~£38
