You mean it's a counterfeit Tomica?
Or, you mean they use genuine Tomica products and simply just repaint and/or add livery to it.
When I mean "customised" like the Akado Honda Civic, I mean these companies take a genuine Tomica and repaint it. The Akado Civic uses pad printing to add the Castrol livery to it.
To me, the livery on the GT-R seems to be water transfers and then glossed overall, rather than pad printing. Can you confirm this?
Don't fear. It's not a counterfeit. It's a limited run item commissioned by the store owner to his friend who also happens to be my acquaintance. He basically bought a certain number of Tomica Premium Z-Tune GT-Rs and modified them all. It's sold only in that store and not in retail.
AKA not an official release by Tomytec. Just someone who's reselling an existing product he modified.
No worries dude. When he said customized, I was pretty sure it was custom-made.
A few shops selling them here in HK.
It's a good casting, but I still prefer the older one's. Purple mainline/$TH were really good(have both). I also liked the red one from the "Garage", which I also kept.Yeah the Alfa is nice. My favorite is actually the Flacon out of the set though.
Except the Gasser! As expected, it's been impossible to find the Gasser. I had a collector on Twitter offer me a trade though, so I should finally have one soon.Found some red liners at Target
"Custom" releases makes for an interesting topic. By my observation, some are in demand, but mostly just within the ranks of the seasoned, or very engaged collectors. Rest seems to be worth something, only to the customizer who is selling it & the individual who wanted it enough to pay premium over the standard model.
I believe I've caught the same bug also. Added detailing, and for me, when they are lowered, that's generally a big plus.True, customs are priced many times above their original casting. I've been bit by the customised bug. Some are incredibly detailed and well designed, and improve on the original. The prices have really shot up in HK, like TLV's, but they do tend to hold their value also.
Very kind of you to say that! If I played any part in someone getting more interested into the hobby, I'm really glad to hear it & honored by it. Thank you so much! That customised skyline van is cool! And some trivia, you have played a large part in my collecting die-casts and my continuing emptying of my bank account . I first saw a TLV in a shop many months back and really liked the incredible detail they have. So, I started looking on the web for more info. Browsing around led me to Lamley, then Japan Booster, and then your website. Your photos are incredible and that's what started my collecting. My collection is mainly TLV's actually. I've only recently started getting into customs.
Thank you for sharing your collection!

P.S. Yes. Watch your bank account. Trust me when I say: This hobby, like many other, is a bottomless pit of needs & wants.
I'm just one of the guys. In this community, I'm not even amongst the top collectors, though I may have more newer releases than they do.No no, the honour is all mine
And there is that in this hobby as well. I think you are okay with the TLVs though. New TLV releases never immediately sell out, and because the MSRP is so high, there is no margin in them for the scalpers. Hot Wheels on the other hand..... Right @R1600Turbo ??I used to collect Bluray Steelbooks. Some of the retailer exclusives can be very expensive. I quit though, because the market got overrun by scalpers, and it became a more frustrating than fun hobby.

Kazy Kustoms,
When I had to start paying $10+ for each car I wanted, it was time to call it quits. Hell I even went on eBay tonight to look for some of the new Matchbox because I know I won't find them in stores, and clicked it off when I saw they were going for $5-8 each. 800% profit anyone? Sheesh.Hot Wheels on the other hand..... Right @R1600Turbo ??

The TLVN Silvia Super Silhouette 1984 that was released in December only cost me USD17.00.
Silvia Super Silhouette
USD17.00.
April however... WOW. Have them all preordered
Anywhere online the two April release Porsche can be preordered?
You're kidding. $17 US? We Australians are so being ripped off, I mean, come on!I've gotten to know most of the shops here in HK, and where to go to find the best deals. Fortunately Tomica release enough into the market to prevent scalping. The TLVN Silvia Super Silhouette 1984 that was released in December only cost me USD17.00. Much lower than even the JapanBooster preorder price.
My guess, $17 would be some kind of an error, or maybe a loss leader. Cheapest anyone would find that thing normally would be $40+.You're kidding. $17 US? We Australians are so being ripped off, I mean, come on!
I wish I kept the Mooneyes Beetle. So neat!2 Mooneyes

@domalorite We are still moving to Hong Kong! Killer deal.
I'm originally from the other collectible paradise, Yokohama/Tokyo area, but yeah, no thank you. I love the relaxed pace of the United States too much!
HK is a collectors paradise.
It's a great place, but the high pressure and fast pace of life, isn't for everyone.
HK is a collectors paradise.
I'm assuming that 5-pack only. I wanted the Titan, bought one off eBay for the same price as a 5-pack would have cost me but worth it since I didn't have to deal with 4 cars I didn't want.Please. Please somebody tell me that Silverado is a multipack exclusive. Please!!
All the local kids, especially in the suburbs would have the Intel on pricing & availability, though I don't know how competitive Japanese pricing would be vs. Hong Kong. That I can truly agree. Whenever I go there, I visit Hung Hing two to three times per trip.
Then I'll add Japan. Japan is also a heaven. You go there because of the availability, not on the price.
I just add them to the pile for my de nephews, so I'm kinda lucky in that regard. Thanks for the promising info. I googled little bit while I was at the store, but I couldn't find anything on it.I'm assuming that 5-pack only.
