@a6m5 even me here in Aus have had both versions of that VW for months lol. Surprised you hadn't.

Oh and found in store, not bought online.
New Matchboxe's been slow to come in, and when I see them, none of the hotter castings are there. Skyline, Tacoma camper things, VW Transporter Cab, they are never there. As mentioned in this thread a couple of times, Target stores stopped carrying the singles altogether(they still have 5-packs).

I also saw the Hot Wheels Falken Toyota truck for the first time, but I didn't want to get in line for just one car, so I left it. I REALLY want the $uper Treasure Hunt of that truck. :embarrassed:

I still haven't seen any of the Skyline's. I got lucky at a Walmart store last weekend and picked up the Tacoma, GT-40 and the black Land Rover Defender. Only saw them at that one store and haven't seen any since.

Edit: Anybody know which VW Transporter Cab is rarer? I'm giving one to my coworker. I'm giving him the empty bed one, but I'm just curious.

Did you know that the Skyline looked like that? I'm sorry Matchbox, that thing is hideous! :yuck:

I only know of later Beads. Cm's didn't have any.. and I don't think Minichamps did either.

Wait, later Beads feature opening bonnets?

So close!

Chevrolet C5R by GMP - Removable hood, molded in rotor, but no caliper.

Wow, I didn't even know the presence of such a manufacturer, let alone the car. Although the rotors are a bit difficult to be seen, they did put quite some effort into the engine. Opening doors are a big plus as well. I don't mean to nit-pick, but they could've done better with the taillights by making it clear painted plastic.

Thanks for the replies. 👍

While I did manage a month without spending anything on die-cast, I did allow myself a little something for January.

First off is the CM's Subaru Endurance Record breaking Legacy.
It's more of an approximation of the real thing, since the wheels are wrong and it's missing the aerodynamic grill cover, but since this was a secret model I'll let it slide. Looks interesting either way.

Then this awesome Kyosho P1. Not much to say about this one, I think it's great.

And finally...

I need to buy more vintage trash to summon @Cano to this thread more.

Here I go!

Oooh mexican master of miniature models.
Oh keeper of all things chipped, rusted and scratched.
I offer a piece of great relevance (if you like irrelevant old toy cars that is)
Rise up from your slumber and bless my humble post with your mere attention

and a like maybe

thanks!

It's another old Schuco!

It's almost perfect too. Outside of some micro scratches on the windows and the oxidation of the base it's mint. The parts that might look like the paint is chipping are just areas that didn't get covered by paint. Guess they were cutting costs by only painting the essential areas.
In any case, I'm really happy about this one. It wasn't a great deal or anything, but I think a nice piece like this is worth spending a bit more money on.

EDIT: You know I probably should have pinged @Cano during my little ceremony.
These don't work on an edit either as far as I know.

Lucky boya.

BTW I do have a duplicate secret Stratos I need to get rid of. Would you be interested in taking this off me at some point in time? It doesn't have a base or box though.

Always interested.

How many years ago did you show us this, @Cano ?

My beef with that one was the fitment of the hood/bonnet to the body. Not good.
Damn you, @a6m5 don't make me jealous by the fact you have the Circuit Wolf version. 見たくないぜ!
I think that one made my "Desert Island" Top Ten. :P It must've been the very first racing manga(comic book) I had ever seen. Very special car to old Japanese guy like myself. :D
In this thread AGES ago I posted up an overlay of the silhouette from a real Skyline to the Matchbox one and it was way off.
My impression, they tried to do too much on a dollar car & couldn't come close to pulling it off.

I like Skyline, I like Matchbox. I wish this never happened.

TLV vs CM's - I do think the CM's look cooler though.

👍 That Bimmer's sooo curvy. 👍
That looks very real that scale model :sly:
I disagree. It's way off everywhere!

$25 USD for that still???

I'm so glad my impulse didn't win me over when I found one.
How much did you see it for? It took me this long to finally bite the bullet, because I could never find one at a reasonable price. It's $35(w/shipping), but I really couldn't see this thing coming down in price, like, ever. Pretty rare release.

Yep, I've seen your blog post on those. 👍
Does the TLV have a painted interior as well? Your picture shows off that CMs actually has blue seat belts and it honestly looks awesome. The car is just so vibrant and interesting.

Also, about the HW dino, is that a rarer car than the rest of the HW Ferrari series? Or is that one in particular special?

I don't know if it's actually rarer than the rest, but I think it's safe to say the sought-after factor and the permanent homes they've found is largely why you still so little and why the price hasn't gone down.

But to answer your question, Shinjude, it was around $25 USD IIRC when I was still collecting 246s.....Wait no, it was probably more. I paid $27 to acquire the 430 Scuderia... the 246 definitely was more.

I don't believe the TLV is painted, maybe just the seats. CM's on the other hand, they put remarkable detailing on their cars. I wanna say they used to sell for $5, $6? Talk about a bargain of the century!

Excellent point, that makes sense to me. When I saw Cano's, it was a love at first sight. Knowing him, it's likely he got his for five bucks. P.S. Last one I saw, I wanna say that it went for around $40 before shipping(might've been free ship though).

Try 25 miles or roughly 30 minutes. 👎
I was actually just going to ask how close yours was. The timing. :boggled:

But anyway it's the same as mine if not a little longer. Also the same for my closest TRU. This is why I'm mad at the world's scientists for not giving us supersonic jet packs. Not only would it be possible to take the most direct and quickest route, it would also be possible to avert any and all traffic. I mean it's 2017, we should have this by now.

I'd check both Target stores, but with intel about Target chains in the past, my local Target stores almost never comes though. Total waste of time. Although one of them is by the Japanese grocery store & Japanese food sounds really good right about now.

Toys R Us is maybe three minutes from me. :P
