Work put out new clip strips of HW today. They've got 8 sales out of me across two purchases, which shows they should pull their finger out lol.

I bought three of the super chromes and the red Rig Heat, the Camaro ZL1, the red Z06, the silver Ford GT and the art car 180SX. Hopefully Asda update their stock soon so I can get some more.

Which ones are super chromes? I know of only the old ones from few years ago.

Been looking at the Majorette USA instagram account as they said they'll be announcing the models we'll be getting and I can't say I'm impressed. We already get enough Challenger, Porsche, and Lamborghini models. Really hoping they'd bring us the "quirky" (to us Americans) mainstream European cars. I'd love to see the Majorette Citroen Cactus or a Renault Megane. Though, I thought I saw somewhere that they might bring those Vision Gran Turismo models.

Picked up some new cars today and almost got thrown out of a Toys R Us for something I had absolutely nothing to do with. There was a premium Volkswagen bus hanging on the pegs and I, along with an employee, witnessed a man cracking open the pack and walking away with the bus. The employee intercepted the customer and took him elsewhere. The two passed another employee but as my luck would have it, the first employee said nothing to the second one. As I started to look at the basic cars a few feet away, the second employee saw the open pack then me, and started confronting me on it. As the employee is dealing with me, what I said to stand up for myself wasn't working, but the first employee came back and instantly cleared up the situation. After that everything was good.

As for the cars, here's what I found at TRU and a comic book store.

I've been checking Kroger and/or Walmart everyday for those Race Day cars..... Nothing, nothing, nothing & nothing.

Three fantasy castings, with 10 due to drop this year in the mainline. I got the Gazella GT, Crescendo and Speed Slayer. Not my usual taste, but they do look appealing in person.

Not all are there though, oddly.
Thank you. I've seen one or two of those before, but I had no idea they were part of the Super Chromes series. 👍
I haven't hated you this much in all our life.
That can't be true! Maybe not this much, lately.... :P
After that everything was good.
It's probably time you took up Somali, to clear up any future misunderstandings... 💡:P

I picked up two of the Race Day Porsches last night. I can't remember the models off the top of my head, but there not the 914

Okay so I'd like to build a diorama. I was wondering if anyone had any tips, tricks, sources for backgrounds, etc to help?

I'm going with a flat background and either a grass or a gravel base where the cars will sit.

Depending on how detailed and intricate you want to get, I've always found Luke Towan's Detailed Modeling Tutorials to be informative (though I've never attempted 'em myself).

Your first tip from me is to always consider how the material you choose will affect the impression of scale. Your goal isn't to just throw something "nice" together. Your goal should be to make everything look as if it is realistic. If you took a life-size tree and you shrunk it down to 64 times its size, how should it look? The leaves should look like such, the texture on the bark, the cracks in the pavement, the roughness of the asphalt, this all matters.

I will definitely check those videos out. Looks like they'll help out when I build my train layout too.

I want something detailed but not too too detailed. To me as long as it looks fairly decent, I'm happy. I have some Woodland Scenics Medium Ballast I could use. Because I'm on a very tight budget I may end up with something that looks slightly off being that I'm confined to using what I already have.

What I probably should do is whip up a quick diagram of what I'm going for so you guys have a better idea.

@Johnny1996 I saw a Facebook post while back, GreenLight is releasing Tomicarama knock-off. I have zero information on the price or quality level...
You're probably right. Or just move back to Pittsburgh unannounced without a trace.
I kid, but it's unbelievable how much drama you guys encounter in your stores. You are one of the most laid back people in this community, so you must not fit in very well in your real life collector community. :D:lol:
He hasn't threatened to pee on you, so he really can't be that mad.
See, that's MAD! I want to make him that mad someday.
Just found this today. I don't normally collect HW original cars, because i think they look "off" (except for Twin Mill) but for my 1st TH, i'll let it slide.
Plot twist: It's just part of the deco design and no TH logo is printed on the card itself.

GTboyz later that day flipped a table
That's a good one. I just googled it, but I couldn't find anything definite that says it's a treasure hunt, or otherwise. Hot Wheels Collectors website seems to be just calling them all mainlines. Fangula TH(card also marked w/TH logo) I've now found 6, 7, 8 of(another one just yesterday!), site is also just calling it "mainline". Some HW Treasure or something website listed it as a "TH", but I doubt they are Mattel.

Checked again, nothing. Since I need 20 cars for the Wonder Woman mail-in anyway, I might go on a HW hunting later tonight. I can't find 20 cars at my Walmart, they suck.

I'm doing the same thing. The Race Day cars don't count. The only ones that do are the basic cars and multipacks. That's a tall order at my local stores as well. They are either pretty picked over or just don't keep the stock up.

I forgot about the multipacks. I'm gonna have to look into that before I go, if I go. 👍

This would probably be my best chance of getting one, which I do hope to do.

Somalia is one crazy :censored:ing place.

But no, I've definitely had a few more little episodes, as well as a couple friends, than I'd care to encounter. I'm actually pretty much expecting something to happen anymore. It's a shame really. But there are times I've avoided it, like this:

When I picked up the Forza cars the other day, it was at Kmart. I heard the voices of two kids from school who always have to mess with me, and I knew they were going to have a lot of fire power seeing me in the Hot Wheels section. I already had all the cars off the pegs, so I quickly made my way to the tool section which was just a few feet away. Even though I shouldn't have done this, I put all the cars in a toolbox and started carrying that around with me so it'd look natural and the kids wouldn't have as much to say against me. I was at the store with my mom helping her get stuff and we were on our separate ways, so I took the tool box over to her and the buggy. I left the cars with her and took the box back to the tool section. Maybe it was a little stupid but it worked the way I hoped it would so I can't complain.

Damn Johnny, you must be cursed or something. Seems like every few weeks, you're here with some kind of story to tell. :P My advice: stay out of the damn stores Johnny and do your shopping online.

Could be worse, I could need full SWAT gear to go in a dollar store for two minutes.

I really thought the story was going to end up with @Johnny1996 being questioned by security for sneaking hot wheels into a tool box.👍

Let's see.... I visited 1 Toys R Us, two Walmart stores & two Krogers. Not a trace of Race Day cars, but I did see some interesting cars I had never seen from my area, or online. I did pick up a few, and I think I am pretty close to the $20 mark now. If those Spiderman cars counted, probably at just over $20, but here goes:

Walmart: I didn't buy the Falcon, just included it in the pic for @Spacegoat :P Grand National was kinda a cool, so I couldn't resist it, or the truck thing below it.

DSC_0247.JPG

Same Walmart, 9-Pack. VW is the only car I want out of the whole pack, but I figured I may never even see this casting after this, and I do need my $20 purchase for the Wonder Woman mail-in. 8 other cars are going to my nephews(they were almost all fantasy cars).

DSC_0248.JPG

Doesn't count, but at the second Walmart, I couldn't resist the M2 Impala & the MBX thing that Jason was talking about. Cool castings.

DSC_0249.JPG

At Krogers. Doesn't count toward $20 here either, but first of this yellow Lambo I bought my de nephew was defective(jammed wheel), so I decided to get him a replacement + gray truck for moi. I was looking for the truck for a long time. To be honest, I couldn't remember if I ever found one or not. Won't kill me to have two. XD

DSC_0245.JPG

I didn't get the M2 Torino Cobra, because I hate that red tipped blower pipe thingie, but it's very cool looking otherwise. I did pick up the bottom 2 cars. Racing Champion Grand National & Plymouth Fury police car. Both are beautifully detailed.

Well, that sucks. Only purchase from Friday that qualified for the Wonder Woman mail-in was the 9-Pack. Also, the two singles I purchased(racing Grand National & Mig Rig) were $2 each!!(international collectors rolls their eyes)

Spiderman cars didn't qualify either, so I still have to buy eleven more cars.

Why would you do such a thing!? Curse you. :grumpy:
I thought you'd be happy to see it! It seemed like a good idea at the time!
