Are the Car Culture sets only available in the US? I've been keeping an eye out for them but not once have I seen any, though I assume if they were around they probably go quite fast.

They've been found in Australia recently, so I would assume they are not.

They are hit & miss even in the U.S., so I'm sure it's even worse overseas.
 at this. Sends me a second chance notice just to tell me the price went up.

It doesn't look bad. Is this out now then? Haven't been paying much attention.

So looking at my diecast collection, I've been hit with another stage of not knowing which direction in which to take said collection.

Got back into the hobby with Hot Wheels and settled on just Historic Trans Am racers (Vintage Racing / 2012 Racing series). Decided I want realism, so sold off all my Hot Wheels and began gobbling up Auto World and TLV. Now looking at my AW and TLV collection, I am questioning why I purchased so many. Sure, these are beautiful cars, borderline works of art, but I don't really share an affinity for, say, an Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV. Now I'm seeking to offload those and...

I dunno.

Admit it. You just want more cars. :P

Small cars do that to you on a psychological level. The realism and work put into one model is likely your excuse to justify continuing.

What do you plan to do with these cars in 10 years and how would you feel about them if you lost interest half way through?

Sell them. Same I've been doing now. I just want to reach a point where I am content with my collection, keeping it minimal but focused. Adding occasional pieces as warranted and dictated by the focused collection. I have SOME idea of what that is, and it goes back to my appreciation of the Trans Am Racing series (with some non-Trans Am racing in the mix). Plus, I hate spending so much money only to regret the purchase later.

I'm with you on this. It is through our mistakes we learn how to avoid making regrettable actions later. Hopefully you are at the stage now you know and have the motivation to keep it focused.

^ Is that a Lexus or something? :P
Looks like a low-grade Chevy!
It's game over.
It's game over man![/paxton]
Yeah, one of the reasons I put it on my watch list. I can't commit just yet.
You ordered the police version though, right? At least that one won't be covered in sparkles.

Maybe.
Autech or whatever name has that tuner-cool vibe, front looks great..... then there's the back. It's like the front of the car is $20 worthy, but it has $3 butt. Skylines by TLV generally has really good looking butt, so I'm not sure what happened here. @GroupB would probably call it a cost-cutting. I want to buy it, but that just looks too stupid for $20 car.

Edit: Okay, so I looked at the pics of the real car.

Yes, I still think the TLV version looks cheap, but I don't think it's as bad as before now that I know the real life taillights looked like this. You can see what I mean about the TLV metallic paint job though. IMO, they are some of the worst in the business. Maybe not in quality, but in accuracy:

I tend to just buy whatever I like. That's actually the direction for me, and it doesn't matter which brand I buy more, if they cost $1, or if they are really realistic . I sometime get a kick out of the brand index on my blog. While it's not really accurate, it does tend to display my collecting habit a little bit:

In reality, since most Hot Wheels don't get posted on my blog, it would be #1 by a huge margin.

Sure, these are beautiful cars, borderline works of art, but I don't really share an affinity for, say, an Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV. Now I'm seeking to offload those and...

I have a angle on this also. By all means, sell what you don't feel like keeping. I think it's okay to pickup little extra, not necessarily a keeper here & there. If you can absorb a little depreciation, sell the cars you no longer want to collectors who actually wants them & get some money back. For me, hot wheel/minicar collection should be pretty fluid. Some collectors keep everything they buy, and if that's what they want, that's what they should do. But going back to my first point, I think my way of collecting's pretty awesome. Just buy what you like, get rid of whatever cars you no longer want. :D
Plus, I hate spending so much money only to regret the purchase later.
One of the things I take into consideration when I make a purchase: Resale value. 👍

If I'm convinced that the item will not climb in value, I will just put it on my wishlist & wait for one to come around at a reasonable price!

That's the only real complaint I have with it. Imo, they've done pretty good with it but the metallic paint completely ruins it. Glad I went with the police version.

I might have to do the red GT-R... and the safety loader.

I know you guy's been wondering: Still no Race Day cars. I forgot to checkout Toys R Us though, I'll do that tomorrow on the way home.
And more DIY CR-X rear spoilers
It's not like they want to charge $23 for a hot wheel car..... They look SO good though. Unlike Spacedog, I did bite on the red GT-R + both CR-Xs. Really looked hard at the Autech Skyline(aka Jason's 4DR GT-R lol), but yeah, that rear end is bit much. Throw in the glitter paint, and I can't do it. I really like the model otherwise, so I'm really disappointed by that one.

^ I had the day off so I could've went checking on stores, but I'm not about to invest at minimum an hour of my day to go to Walmart.

I could be missing out right meow, but I've no regrets.

Yeah, I wouldn't waste that much time either, Andy. Kroger, I hit during lunch break, Walmart & Toys R Us are on the roads I take home. If I'm gonna drive around wasting time & gas looking around for this stuff, I'd have bought them online already!
