That was so awesome. đź‘Ť You need to get rid of that rally Fairlady though, covered in those nasty decals. Do you still have my mailing address?[/Dr Nessy]

I don't. Please send me your mailing address so I can send you a big piece of poo.

Alternatively, you can upgrade that piece of poo to the Rally Fairlady in its mint condition for 5 easy installments of $39.99.

Good to see you bro. *hides all cars*

I don't know, Nessy. Looks like Google results do show many reference to "tampon printing". Even Wiki noted "tampography" in the pad printing page. I call tissues "Kleenex", so it's entirely possible I'm just stupid.

You too a6m5. đź‘Ť

I'll have to take a look into "tampon printing", never heard of it until now.

*pah! hide all cars?!?!.. look at my eyes in the pic, bro.. you ain't hiding nothing!*

So my 787B came in, and the wing is not perfect, but acceptable. It's more skewed from above than from behind.
However, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned how cheap it looks. The wing is unpainted orange plastic, which doesn't match up in shade or gloss with the painted body of the car. In addition, the plastic is soft and flexible, which explains how so many wings are getting misaligned during assembly. I can't help but think if this car had been released 5 years ago, the wing would have been metal.

That overhead view really makes it look ugly...

Wow, bummer. I'm nearly in disbelief of everything I've heard & seen from everyone so far, considering the MSRP. It screams price gouging to me.

I just tracked my package and it's ready for me today after work. I'm keeping my expectations real low.

That's hazardous material shipping. That's extra.

Your new nickname is Tomytec $$$. :(

Not very pleasing to the eye.

Definitely planning to sell off that 787B once it arrives.

@a6m5 : I know you've done a Desert Island Top 10. Ever considered doing an article asking folks about models they sold that they later (or currently) regret selling?

That is an awesome idea. And Desert Island list is still ongoing. @Cano has been perfecting his since 2016, to make it extra good. Right Cano?

Clearly Biante know what they're doing; they kill Classic Carlectables in terms of quality. I gather this has always been the case though!

Do Classic Carlectables still do 1/64? I haven't been paying attention. I know their 1/43's have seriously gone down in quality thanks to cost cutting, over the recent years.

He's a perfectionist.

It's what I like about the members on this forum. We will heap praise where it's due, and put anything six feet under if it's bad.

I read other places also and some people have written lengthy articles saying it's the best thing ever, and not mentioning any of the problems we have put here.

A true authentic collection of collectors :gtpflag::gtpflag:

I think I read 7. something on the Richter scale? Isn't that where you can start to observe wave on the ground? I think I encountered one when I was really young, in Japan. Japan, just like Mexico, we got hit with quakes all the frigging time. But 7 would be pretty big. I do clearly remember 5, and I was able to dance to that one, 7, not so much. :D

I love that. :lol:đź‘Ť

Well, I just took a look at the two 787B I picked up from the post office just now & I'm not all that impressed. This is just my first impression: While macro photography might prove otherwise, wings are straight to the naked eye. One of them had rear cowl that didn't want to sit right on the body, but I played around little bit with it & I was able to get it to settle, eliminating the gap between the body & rear cowl. Even the quality of the rear wing itself seems alright to me? At least without putting direct light on it. So, all these concerns we were anticipating, I dodged the bullet on both 787Bs, so why the whiny tone???

I took a look at them in my hand. It just doesn't look well put together? While it's not this bad, for the $57.93(shipped, amiami price w/today's exchange rate), it's not the 1/64 work of art I was expecting either. It looks bit clumsy. Again, it's a really early first impression, but I'm not getting the same impression I got from the earlier silhouette cars. I plan on doing a full review this weekend(cause lazy), and I hope it proves my first impression wrong then.

P.S. I also got the silver TLV Safety Loader, three neat little Tomicas, but to my surprise, there was a second package from amiami today:

Thanks Jarrod. :D I was able to pick this up from amiami for $12.81, shipped. It's a frigging Green Machine, and they advertised it as so! I was 100% skeptical that they were actually going to list & sell me a Green Machine(chase) car for regular mainline price, but I guess they are one of those sellers who just want to pass on the benefits to customers, rather than marking them up to keep the profits. Mad props to amiami & Jarrod.... who game me the heads up to order this Green Machine, but forgot to order one himself.:D This one should've been yours. I feel guilty!!

The problem was that the epicenter was really really close to Mexico City. Last one was 8.x but much further away so it wasn't as destructive. This last one also combined trepidatory and oscilatory movements, its start was incredibly violent.

They made me nervous as a kid, but not like terrified of one? I wonder how I'll react to something like 5~7 on Richter scale now. Maybe it'll freak me out, or maybe I'll enjoy the ride(until it displaces me or something lol).

We are supposed to get hit by a big one in the Pacific Northwest(Oregon, Washington, etc.) before long. It's supposed to hit this region every three, four hundred years or something like that, and it's believed to be overdue. It was supposedly so violent last time, same quake actually caused a tsunami in Japan. That's quite powerful. :nervous:

P.S. How is that Desert Island list coming along, by the way. I hate to bother you at a time like this, but is it pretty close to being done or.....

I'm kidding, don't kill me.
Hey, I'm just glad one of us was able to get it. đź‘Ť
I will keep it warm for you. I have my ways.

I read about that and it’s pretty scary. Basically the whole region will be wiped from the map by the tsunami, and very little exists in the way of emergency preparedness.

Damn, this thing. I remember trying to compile it and it was a nightmare. And here I am three years and 1000 more cars later, and it is twice the nightmare.

Amazing. đź‘Ť

I'm just southwest of Portland, so I'm sure I'll be safe from tsunamis, but as far as this powerful quake, I'm almost convinced that it'll be as bad, or even worse than the epic disasters I've seen only on TV. I really should be storing more bottled water or something, but I get complacent with stuff like this. I did invest in portable battery/charger, AM/FM radios, started stocking up(and rotating) batteries, bandage kits, etc., etc., but if I miss it, that would be just dandy.

....... So, don't expect it by Friday. Right? j/k

Your top ten would be the coolest though. Try again, Cano. Our list so far are probably little heavy on the Tomicas & Kyoshos. You could bring the balance! :D If any of you might be interested in doing this, please let me know. Maybe @shellac10 @domalorite @GroupB ?

Here are the Desert Island lists we've done so far & the introductory post with my man Jarrod's top ten list. It's kinda fun to share your favorite cars with other collectors. I think we all had a good time putting the list together. :D

Hadn't bought a properly 'premium' (Kyosho, TLV etc) 1/64 in probably over a year due to apathy.

Bought the 787 and after getting it that apathy is back. What a disappointing piece of crap (especially for TLV) it turned out to be. Even more so being ~$90aud incl. postage.

If any of you might be interested in doing this, please let me know

Would be honored to. But it would be all TLV and custom Tomica's.

And it might take a while. Despite me taking lots of photos of my purchases, I don't have that much free time. I try to spend most of any time I have with my 3yr old son (I offload all my mainline cars onto him ). Any deadline on this?

I get you. Although my cost on this 787B was little lower than expected, so was the product.

No deadline, and any 1/64 diecast cars are welcome. Some mainlines are not true 1/64 scale, but that's no problem. I'm going to see if I still have the private convo on this open. I'll send you a invite from it, and you can read about the general guidelines. We'd be very happy to have you participate. Thanks! đź‘Ť
Not that Green Machine, Jarrod. I believe you already own the Black Bandit version of that car(and it's on your Desert Island list lol). :dopey:

Of course, none of you collect vintage stuff. You all suck.

Brutal. I've got no comeback at all for that one. Curse you. :grumpy: :lol:đź‘Ť
