I got the red '95 RX-7s ordered, but after seeing the Kaido Fairlady, I started looking for that one, too. Chance of finding JDM anything in my neighborhood's real tough.

As soon as I got on eBay, I come across the $uper Treasure Hunt version of that Z. I've been dumping money on hot wheels/minicars lately, but I had to chase it. "Best Offer" on eBay fell through, but TTP seller was nice enough to accept my offer for free shipping. $45 for the $TH + regular, shipped. I didn't want to spend anymore than $40, but if I can get the mainline with it too, it's worth the extra $5. 👍

Chances of that red RX7 getting a European release are zero I take it?
In the U.S., it's Kmart exclusive, and they disappear FAST. I guess it's possible for these things to popup overseas, but if it's common practice, I've yet to hear about it.

Again, it's not like I was looking for these types of situations, but only exception I've ever come across has been that Kmart mail-in Datsun Bluebird/510 from earlier this year? They were also available in Japan, at Toys R Us(I think for purchase of $20, $30 or more).

@Sonygamer455 I feel the same way. It seems to be one of those castings that's popular but not popular enough to use more if you get what I mean. I'd love to see it used more or at least not be as hard to find as it seems to be for me at least.
I imagine some others wish it had been produced more often which given it's short run and it's good looks, it's not hard to imagine why. The 1980's had some castings that I feel do not get as much recognition as they should. Ones like this and the Greyhound MC-8 bus are some that come to mind and I know I could name more.

Honda ATC185 I believe too. 👍
My uncle Phillip has a Honda Big Red and my uncle Don had an identical one. Don't know if Don still has his, I know Phillip does, I seen it before posting this. If I ever make a custom of the Rampage, I should paint the 3 Wheeler to match it.

I have the 2014 release of the Rampage and I may do some picture comparisons soon. I can already spot some differences that Hot Wheels Wikia hasn't already noted.

I'm glad some of you guys had fun going out shopping! I am sorry @Johnny1996 missed out on another interesting incident though. :D:tup: I can understand where the store was coming from, wanting to save the sealed cases for later, but yeah, that's shortchanging the handful of people who actually showed up for the event. Pretty stingy & customer-unfriendly to say the least.

I'm sure lot of people didn't even bother with K-Day this time around, as it was almost like Kmart & Mattel wanted to keep it a secret. They barely announced the date(just barely), and no time, or locations were made available either. I saw one guy on HWC found it & posted it(pretty much this morning lol), but the list had just locations, and still had no time.

Me, I just wanted the red RX-7, so I looked at a handful of deals online, but I couldn't come to terms with eBay best offers. There was one seller on TTP who had good prices, but for some reason, he'd only list one by one & since I wanted two, I asked him if he could sell me two & how much..... no response.

I ended up going back to eBay. Four '95 RX-7s for $15, shipped. I didn't realize that Kaido Z car @Aerocoupe picked up were in these cases. Had I known, I would have researched more to attend the K-Day. State of how these events are being put together are so bad, it's tragic.
I would have just waited a couple hours and went. Probably would have found one.

Not around these parts, my friend. Had I gotten a sealed case(so far, I've been able to at every K-Day), maybe one. Maybe two.

In the free-for-all after the rounds, people turn little aggressive for my tastes, so I get the *edit*lame cars*edit*. '95 RX-7 at that stage, highly unlikely. Try to find one after the crowd had left? I have no doubt I'd have found ZERO. Hot JDM cars evaporate into thin air around here.

*Edit - Sorry, got little careless there. :D

I've been wondering about those Kmart exclusive cars. People in my country sell many Civic EF Kmart exclusive like hot cakes both carded or loose with pricrs ranging from around $9-$20.

Plot twist : there is no Kmart in Indonesia.

How the hell did they get those is beyond me

I'm not too familiar with 80s castings but the real life equivalents, I love those. Some of them anyway, the Rampage and every trike ever made included.

The first link in my sig takes you to my thread for my 200x if you're interested.

I believe I have the 2014 release too, the Road Trippin series one? Purple with orange interior and trike? I too have a custom in mind with it. If you're curious just shoot me a PM. I can explain and show more there.

I may have said this already and apologies if so, but I wasn't able to sell anything today at the flea market the one local track held since I couldn't get my hands on even one table. I couldn't even borrow a table from anyone.

There's another local track that's hosting a flea market and I'll be going tomorrow as a customer. One of my friends will be taking me and giving me $100 of his money to spend in exchange for me helping him with a handful things around his house. If I find anything I'll obviously post it here, but to be honest I am more concerned with larger scale stuff and non diecast items so don't expect much I guess. :indiff:

@Johnny1996 I know you prefer to sell locally, but I just thought of something. I've never bought anything on Craigslist, but people say that site can move anything, and you don't need PayPal. Buyer bring cash.

Anywho, I posted that GreenLight Gone in 60 Seconds set today:

F-150 looks amazing. "Eleanor" looks amazing. In opposite way.

Fantastic, the fake pickup that didn't even exist at the time the movie was made is the one Greenlight spent most detailing time on, instead of one of the most famous Mustangs in movie history. GG GL, GG.

Also, no mention of paint flakes? Are those becoming normal to you, Inspector? Because both cars make extensive use of them... :P

Some paint flakes, I'm fine with. It's the gigantic glitters I have problems with.

As for "Eleanor", yeah, what a disappointment. Car in the movie is actually quite curvy. GreenLight Eleanor is ...... I can't even explain it.

So the minor ones aren't really a problem? Fair enough, thanks for clarifying. I guess that's a lesser sin from Greenlight, especially with these weird quality priorities...

Yes, the Eleanor's front looks flat out ugly. The back isn't bad, but I've seen better headlights in off-brand China shop cars. It also doesn't help that the hood looks crooked... There definitelty wasn't any detail equality in this pair, that's for sure.

Currently in talks with an Instagram collector about a couple of Red RX7s and Advan Fairladies. It'll be costly but I gotta have 'em.

£32 shipped is a better deal than the only one showing on UK eBay which included the 80s RX7, the Hi Roller and white HW Mustang.

In regards to Eleanor, it's not even about the original car, or the movie car. GreenLight casting is just horrid, detailing & assembly are trying to outsuck the other.

Precisely, that's what I was critiquing about it. I love the Nicholas Cage-era Eleanor myself, one of my all time favorite movie cars (already said that, I know). But Greenlight did a major disservice to it with this appaling casting quality. It looks far too cheap for something part of a more pricey set like a Tow & Hitch set... Especially when the modern pickup that has nothing to do with the movie looks better than it.

Today was interesting. The flea market was from 7 am to 9 pm but only four vendors showed up and were all gone before I got there. Luckily enough I did find a car show on the way there, so I went to that. There was a flea market there too, but it also had a very small amount of sellers. However I was able to buy three NASCAR cars there and later went to a Kmart for tackle boxes, which I successfully found as well as a Firebird. It was laying right on top of a pile of cars left over from the collector event, and thanks to its design, it stuck out and I decided why not and got it.

Darrell Waltrip Tim Flock Special, Jeremy Mayfield Kids Race Against Drugs, Kerry Irwin G.I. Joe and the Firebird. The irony of the Mayfield car is he got in trouble for drugs a few years back.

I have thought about that before, today even, but I'm not sure how I feel about that right now.

Hot Wheels had plenty of castings from the 80's that I wish would come back again. I could make a lot of examples.

I'll check it out sometime soon. 👍

Yep. I have that one too. I wish I had got more of these, but I don't think ever saw another one.

I too have a custom in mind with it. If you're curious just shoot me a PM. I can explain and show more there.
I may do that sometime. I am curious what you have in mind for yours.

The entire wrap looks thick as the door handles' form definition is not quite fully there, but that could just be a lack of detail in the cast itself.

Not bad overall. I like that it has rotors.

Yeah looking at other parts, it seems their molds don't go sharp enough.

It's pretty. But any Advan livery looks good. At least the build quality is better on these Evos.

I also preordered the the Ralliart livery Evo. But I have a little suspicion it's not going to come out. They've released all the other Evo designs, as well as other cars. Yet nothing still on the Ralliart.
I ordered just Civic & that. I think they put little more effort into the Civic(I have just one pic at the end of the Evo post).

Civic set looks even better. Really puts comparably priced TLVs to shame.

Edit:
EMS vs small air packet or whatever it is. Not a very fair race!
If you are not cheating, you are not trying. :P
Lancer looks good. 👍
Thanks! 👍

Civic set looks even better.

Pretty and accurate casting. If Tarmac keep improving they might be a worthwhile consistent buy. The only thing putting me off is their use of waterslide decals. I've been burned too many times buying custom Tomica's that use waterslide decals, so I try to avoid anything that uses them.
