Do Classic Carlectables still do 1/64? I haven't been paying attention. I know their 1/43's have seriously gone down in quality thanks to cost cutting, over the recent years.

He's a perfectionist.
Mate, the Lowndes car is by Classic Carlectables

:dunce: :dunce: :dunce:

I thought it looked different to the other two. That's what I get for jumping on the forum straight after I've woken up.
You didn't know? You gotta be kidding me! Have you not seen how s*** they are now? They don't even have interiors now!

Cracked the Transit open from the card since the wheels are bent by the blister, thankfully the axles are still straight.

Rant warning

Great news, the package from AmiAmi only took 5 days to get to Slovenia.

All it took then was for customs to send me a letter asking for the value of the shipment... which has an invoice plastered right on the box, so really they just wasted my and their time because they're fishing for people to try and commit tax fraud by faking a lower value. Hey, at least after I sent them the invoice on the very same day that I got the letter, they sent the package out in a timely manner of 6 freaking days, which is longer than it took the package to fly across half the world. If I'm lucky the package arrives tomorrow and I get to pay the taxes plus an additional 4€ for the service of the customs officers that so nicely took care of my package for 6 days. God knows I didn't want it.

Fun fact, if you take too long to reply to the letter they send you, you have to pay an additional fee for storage of your shipment. Must be really pressed for space in there, what with it taking 6 freaking days to pass on each individual package.

Well, no need to be too negative. At least I'll finally get the popular TLV 787b with it's well crafted plastic wing.

Been looking at this Rapid Transit lately and here are a few things I find "odd" about this casting.

1. It has two different window colors. While it's supposed to be that way, I find it kind of strange they did this because this is the only casting I know that has this.

2. It has a metal interior. Yea, a metal interior, that actually is a thing for this one and it's not like those funny cars where it's part of the base, it's a separate piece. I wonder, why would they make the body plastic and then make the interior metal? Why make the interior metal at all? Why not the other way around? It doesn't make any sense to me why they would do this. Even more weird, my particular model isn't even listed on Hot Wheels Wikia....

Their is only one other casting I know that has this and that was the Greyhound MC-8 Bus:

Except this one actually has a metal base, metal body AND a metal interior, all of which are 3 separate pieces. That's taking Metal/Metal to a whole new level! Wouldn't surprise me if metal cost was part of the reason they didn't make many of these.....

It may have something to do with weight and being heavy enough to work correctly on a track. An all plastic car might be too light for some stunts.

Yes, after I posted that I was thinking about what I read recently about the Rear Loader Beach Bomb not making it. To put it bluntly, it's lacking ability to perform well on track was why it didn't make the cut. Seems like track performance was something they took seriously with every casting they did for a while. Not sure how seriously they took it at the time my bus was made, but I think it wasn't until the release of the Rail Rodder they started making castings that weren't exactly track compatible.

As far as how mine does, I can't really give any reliable information on that because mine doesn't roll right for some reason. The Greyhound bus however, despite what some may think, it actually rolls just fine! I may set up my old loop track and see how it does sometime.

I am definitely interested! Though it wouldn't be a particularly interesting list...
It's all about sharing your favorites, so it's all good. I'll send you a invite to the convo once I get home. Not able to do it from my smartphone for some reason.
Now it's cubic money, because everyone and their grandma buys pure high-end stuff
You ain't kidding Cano. Prices these days.

Oh no.. I'll be honest. I don't feel as bad about the Customs in Los Angeles now. :D

Great review. I've been wanting that Greyhound Bus for while now. Metal interior sounds exotic.
Maybe the blue R34. All else are meh. I'll never see them in stores anyway.

WTF happened with the wheels on the Z's. They really need to add more skilled designers to design these cars. R35's taillights are absolute joke that looks like they belong on a $1 hot wheels.
The best looking Zs are made by Hot Wheels. Not even Kyosho does a great job with the casting.
TLV blows everybody out of water with their Z's, but I think they are 260Zs? I agree on the Kyoshos. They are definitely not great.

It’s not the displacement that matters, but the fact that they have only released the 2+2 model with the different roofline.

Yeah, I know how crap their 1/43's have gotten over recent years, thanks to them trying to cut costs. Honestly I'd thought they had gotten out of 1/64's for the same reason.

What the hell is up with the stupidly large wheels on the Z's. They look awful.

I may have missed a post you made about a Z by TLV. Got any cool pics?

Oh wait I forgot about Dydo. It was the last Dydo on my search list, but I think I decided to call it quits after spending a hooplah on the the Safari Rally Beads.

Pics by some other blogger I juuuust googled. Seems like he dabbles in a lot of 1/64s as well:

edit: I'm totally going to redirect the topic now. I'm browsing that dude's blog:

1/72 Aoshima. Look at the details on the front wheel!

The Z roof must be tough to get right. The windshield is too tall on that Dydo car, making the whole thing look like a bubbletop.

I'm totally ignorant on the subject, but they are still North American equivalent, right?

That is amazing. Aoshima, aren't they a plastic model manufacturer?

P.S. My "Z" pics got hijacked by Photobucket, but I'll work on that tonight.

Beginning with the 260Z, the S30 was available as both a 2-seater and a 4-seater (US 2+2, JDM 2by2). Previously the 2-seater was the only offering.
In addition to the longer wheelbase, the extra headroom needed for a rear seat required a change in the roofline that was obvious. The 2+2 looked completely different in the S130 generation (280ZX) as well, but for the later Z31 & Z32, a trained eye was required to spot the differences.

So far the only TLV castings are all of the 2+2 (both S30 and S130)

Of course, none of you collect vintage stuff. You all suck.
I do! :P Maybe not as much as i'd like due to the only place I know that carries them being so inconvenient, but I do collect them whenever I can. :indiff: Heck, I highly prefer them over today's mainlines.

Thank you! I can still remember reading about it being in the Hot Ones series again back in 2011, but sadly it never came out. :( Been obsessed with it ever since and it's steep price tag wasn't enough to stop me from buying it. I have had that Greyhound bus for nearly 2 years now and I still love it! :D

What i'd give to know the metal costs for this one when it came out and how much it typically cost for castings in the 80's. I'd very much like to know why the Greyhound MC-8 and the Rapid Transit were designed the way they were because the most we can do is theorize really. If I ever meet Larry Wood....

Did a google for "tomica 240z" and found this photo on pinterest. Love those Tomica's. The metallic finish is great. That photographer took a nice photo.

Edit: Photo!
