Okay so unfortunately I haven't been able to sell a single car let alone take part in any flea markets at all, but I'm now in desperate need to sell my cars and I'm thinking about getting on eBay. But before that I'll need to get setup on PayPal. Is there anyone here that could or would be willing to give me any info I need on getting setup on it?

Just set it up like any account; name, address, etc.. You'll want to connect a bank account of yours for Paypal to consider you a legit person.

When you sell on eBay: Watch your wording. Don't word it in such a way it can be interpreted completely different because that can bite you in the hoot nanny. If there's any damage, indicate it, or at least avoid giving the impression that it's undamaged.

Be clear on your shipping agreements, and always point out to ask for quotes. There's always the idiot who pays you before you give them an honest quote.

eBay takes 10% of what the item sells for.
eBay takes about 10% of what you charge on shipping.
Paypal takes a random chunk of change for receiving payment, because that apparently takes work to do.

If you plan to do international (like everywhere but Canada), do whatever offers tracking, that one thing alone saves you when you got poopheads in other countries claiming nothing has arrived. Don't be like me and try to do people a favour by offering them a lower cost shipping, because while they can verbally agree, they can still file a refund with eBay.

I signed up with PayPal & eBay like a hundred years ago, so I can't help much on the account setup. Really rusty. Questions regarding specific items, I might be able to help you with. With PayPal, just remember the bank is in charge. Unless you are finance savvy, lot of their policies, rules may seem dumb, or unreasonable to you. Just a heads up.

Andy makes excellent point on listing items. Be upfront about condition the items are in, provide as many pictures as you can. Also, potential buyers would appreciate "clear" pictures greatly on used items.

On the fee structure, I don't know if this is across the board, but for my listings, eBay takes roughly 10% from my listings after items sell(shipping included) & PayPal takes another 2%. So anytime I'm selling something on there, I figure what I get are 88% of what I receive from the customer, minus whatever it cost me in postage(shipping item to the customer).

I know Andy scoffs at this, but for shipping internationally, I strongly recommend signing up with "Global Shipping Program". It's the eBay's outsourced package forwarding service. It won't cost you anything. All expenses associated with the international postage, customs, package forwarding, will be paid by the buyer. You just ship the item to their operation in Kentucky, you do ZERO paperwork. :embarrassed: Any problems with the customs, delay in international shipping, eBay(also Pitney Bowes, their partner) will take the heat for you.

I'm sure you'll come up with more questions as you go through the process. Feel free to PM me anytime @Johnny1996

@AOS- @a6m5 I've been screenshotting everything so far so I'll have a quick way to reference something. I appreciate the help so far and to me a fair amount of it just seems like common sense and treating it as if I'm the customer. Basically give my customers what I'd like to see as a customer myself I suppose. I'm also thinking about getting on Toy Peddler as well just to have that one more source. What will I need to know about that?

The three words you must not say here!

jk

Yeah do that if you want. Ya just won't get buyers like me.... or any bad buyers. :P

I avoid any seller using GSP.

Having said that I have been waiting a month on a package shipped using international priority mail and USPS don’t know where it is. Nice one USPS!

I walked into Target to buy a Snapple, and there was 8 yellow Rx-7's, and like.. I bought all of them. And I also bought all of the Integras.. and the Silver NSX.. and the white MX5's .. and the civics. Well, after months of having the scalpers beat me to em, I scalped em all. Time to recuperate my losses by selling these things for a profit. I'v been paying 2$ at a local hobby shop for the hard to find models because scalpers take EVERYTHING that's not a fantasy model here in LA. Hate me for scalping, but I need money to buy other cars. I paid 4$ for the stupid yellow RX-7 last week.

I have GSP available on all my ebay auctions and have sold several cars through the program.

I figure the option is there for those that really want to purchase the cars. If it drives other buyers away, I am fine with that, too.

That’s an interesting comment.

I’ve heard bad things about GSP from both buyers and sellers. If I buy an expensive item the last thing I want is the item to be ‘repackaged for efficiency’, which is what I have read that the shipping company does. And when items go missing it’s the buyers fault for some reason.

At the end of the day it is the sellers responsibility to ensure the buyer gets the items they purchased in the same condition as advertised. It should not be the other way round.

I have recently gone through some grief with some packages sent by USPS. The first one wasn’t USPS’s fault but the local post office. I had been waiting more than a month, and because there was no tracking outside the US, I had no idea where the parcel was. Eventually I went to enquire at the post office and it had been there for almost three weeks.

The second item I specifically asked for priority shipping with tracking. The last tracking status is it arrived and left the country on the same day, 22 days ago. The seller asked USPS and they don’t know where the package is.

That's unfortunate. And to your point, I agree that GSP is a huge gamble on the buyer's part. I've been fortunate in that there have been no issues with my transactions.

TTP is similar to eBay, at least in the basics. Communication is more critical with TTP, customers are also more likely to ask for combined shipping. Postage cost are high, so make sure to make very accurate shipping quote.

Also, exposure of your listing is everything on TTP. Newest items go on the page one where buyers browse, so list the cars when people from east coast are browsing online.

Finally, check out their website, they usually have free listing credit offer, so you can list first few cars for free.

Popular cars move, with/without scalpers. *shrug*

I'm about the same. Otherwise, I wouldn't ship overseas, so it is what it is. Shipping quote, hassle with delayed/unpredictable transit times, potential international customs headaches, not worth it for me!

For me, I realize my limitations as a seller, and as a individual, so I decide that I will not touch international shipping.

I sometimes deal with Japanese sellers who also do not ship overseas. I use package forwarding services, and they are not cheap. eBay Global Shipping Service is in essence a forwarding service. There are times I have to have something I can't find locally, and I am willing to pay the expenses necessary. As for the customer service of the eBay GSP, I'm not familiar with. As some of you know, I haven't been very happy with eBay customer service lately, so if there were disgruntled international buyers, I can't say that I'm shocked to hear it.

Not when there are four dump bins, and 3 dedicated peg stands at TRU and every model is available except the blue skyline and the yellow RX-7 ( out of 1000 cars ) Scalpers had to have cleared out 40-80 of each model. How do I know, they dumped all the dump bins into shopping carts to sort through them. Sometimes they leave one behind and I get lucky, but there's no doubt its one or two people clearinghouse.

Yep, from a sellers point of view GSP is great for all those reasons mentioned. But as shellac mentioned, the buyer takes all the risks. For me, I’m not prepared to take those risks on a signed copy of a Datsun 510 BRE, for example!

To be frank, if I was a seller I too would probably use GSP. Although I have read it can be a real pain for the seller too if things don’t go according to plan.

Seem hardly scientific, but you might be right, I wouldn't know.

My understanding on the eBay GSP: I ship what I promised, eBay/Pitney Bowes handles the rest. They even control eBay feedbacks in regards to any problems related to shipping, or customs. I've yet to have anything lost, or receive any bad news from eBay or the buyers, so I'm not very knowledgeable on that end of it either.

P.S. Any RLC/Vintage Racing BRE 510 would be awesome bro. I wish you luck!! 👍

I just blogged about this. That was really poor audio man. For those of you wondering about the release date & MSRP:

Targeted release of May, MSRP of $24 USD. Five versions to be released, they also spoke of two exclusive versions, but I couldn't understand the details. Also, just 999 pieces of each versions. Is it just the GT-R coming out in May @AOS- ? I don't think they ever said when the 86 is coming out. My thoughts on all of it if anyone care. Almost forgot: Tarmac Works is handling marketing/distribution, production will be ignition model. I'm relieved.

Full licensed Gulf livery.
I realize that, but it makes people like me, who bought the first version look stupid.

"Here's the Gulf livery Ford GT40!"

"Just kidding, here's the real Gulf GT40!".

Some of us joke about GreenLight milking the Gulf license, but at least they haven't sold licensed Gulf diecast, right after the fake ones. This move by Mijo is garbage IMO.

Edit: More themed peg warmer trash coming to your local Walmart.
I saw these on Twitter. I think the livery on the '83 Silverado's pretty sharp if you collect that casting? 👍

As with everything else on the topic, I'll keep this in mind. Thank you.

Oh my. Whether that's a good or a bad "oh my" I don't know. :indiff:
Ferrari FXXK by Kyosho:
Oh yes.

The 1500 is the only one I like. Watch it be the one that ends up being hardest to find at least for me.

I’ve been trying but all either don’t ship overseas or use GSP. If you were to sell one of your dozen signed copies I would consider it

And to let you know the content of that missing parcel is a 240z BRE... I’ve been having nightmares every night it doesn’t arrive:indiff:
