What an amazing model. How many of these are still around?

A lot if they're not pink. But they command a hefty price. Expect to pay $20-$30 for one in good shape, and up to $150 and on for a minty one in a rare color .

Do I still hold the record for the "Biggest Purchase in One Day" title? I've got either $50 something, or $72. :D

Does Ebay count? If so I'm fairly sure either Cano or someone else who buys in lots has that one.

$227 with shipping in one day. Never tell my wife.

The M2 Machine that I bought for my friend. He's a big classic Mustang fan.

:D

Cool, thanks a ton. I sent you my adress via PM. Also, screw you and your two Fieros.

Your parents are extremely odd. Everyone I know is more than happy to provide their sons with these because they are so cheap. Start asking them for CMC 1:18 models and see them agreeing with you collecting HWs.

I'd send you one if I could. :P

As for my parents. They don't even know that I started collecting HWs all over again.

My record is spending over $200 in one day at one store and that was on 1:64 cars. Does anyone want to see some of my 1:43 cars here or should I post them in the Model thread.

I've spend around $50 at once on nothing but 1:64s before, but I don't remember exactly how much. :dunce:

:crazy::crazy::crazy:

You need help, and better things to spend that kind of money on (I could name a few).

Only teasing of course, but with a hint of seriousness. That's pretty ridiculous. In both a good way and a bad way. :P

*gasp* Marriage-breaking secret! *takes note*

haha, I knew you'd chime in. Actually, she agreed with me to use such money because they were extensive lots and I easily got back what I invested. I usually have money I make off selling the repeats that come in the lots, but that time a bunch of REALLY GOOD stuff came up at the same time for cheap and I didn't have any funds due to, ahem, having bought MOAR in the days before. So there I was explaining to her that I'd easily get the money back once they arrived. And indeed, once they came in I got like 100 back out of a single guy.

this is how it looked when it all came in:
IMG_3166.jpg

The $227 in one day accounted to that box in the upper right, stuffed full of Garage and Delivery cars. Everything else is the MOAR I had bought before, so you can see why I didn't have any money left

Medigo: I have yet to see the blue RX-7! And that Ford GT..... Gulf GT happens to be my very favorite GT. That one is epic. 👍 What year Matchbox is that? I might be able to snag one online? HELP ME!

P.S. I can't believe you bought two Fieros. Then again, I did buy two Boulevard Cudas. :D

The Gulf Ford GT is from 2006. Also found a red one with white stripes. Oddly enough, I wonder why matchbox decided to do the headlight design for the Gulf colored one, but not the red/white stripe one.

I'm not sure why I bought two Fieros. I bought one when I first stopped by Walmart, but then during work I thought to myself how it'd be nice to have another one. So I went back after work to buy the second one I saw on the pegs. Not really a Fiero fan, but I quite like the boulevard model of it. :dopey:

Edit: I did also find the boulevard Chrysler Turbine, which I was tempted to buy...

I do agree on the Fiero. I never liked the car, but the Boulevard model seems really cool & realistic.

Thanks for the info on the Ford GT. I ended up ordering the two GT's(silver/chrome looking one + red/white stripes), original Mini & old Jaguar E-Type. I was just gonna buy the two GT's, but the seller had other cool Matchbox cars I missed out on, plus shipping discount, so...

Got my Miata in the mail today. :)

Blister is a little dinged up but that's to be expected of a car from 1992. This coming payday I plan on investing in some of the plastic protecto packs. Have a few treasure hunts that need to go in them, plus a few other cars.

:D i got a couple. Three Kenmeris (one to collect, one in the car on display, and one on my dresser i'm "upgrading"), two Hakosukas, E92 GT2...

I really wanna get some of the Matchbox ones, since they're hella detailed. I'm looking for the 2nd gen prius, Lamborghini Miura (lol Miura's my last name), Lotus Europa...

I'm also looking for the R34 Ztune Hot wheel...

I bought the Prius for my nephew while back. Like other Matchbox cars, it looks very proportionately correct...... I might ask him to gift that one back to me. :D

The store I mainly go to still doesn't have any 2012 models yet, however I did get lucky and found a treasure hunt Tucker there :D. The Sandblaster was given to me by my uncle, who had gotten it with the Daily Telegraph paper when they had that free Hot Wheels promotion a few weeks ago - it isn't obvious from the picture, but the rollcage on the back is loose.

Before I went shopping, I told my parents that I had to get to a friend's place to work on a project over spring break. And they believed me. Left about 2 hours before work and went straight to work right afterwards. Then at work I planned on telling my parents if they saw it that it was some "props" for my video production project. However, when I did get home my father was cleaning up the basement and my mom was busy cooking. So none of them saw me walk in with the bag.

Can't find any pictures of it, but so far I only found it in the catalog. Here's the link:
http://www.maisto.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=139
Just go to the table of contents and click on the Custom Shop. It's page 44-45. :) Definitely worth a look. I hope they're out in the U.S. since I haven't been able to find any at all. :/

Here's my first big purchase in one day. :D Also noticed that all the stores finally restocked their matchbox with rather distasteful models... Like the red Corvette ZR1 with a white base and white tires. :yuck: At least they restocked them...
Toys R Us:

Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera! (Never thought I'd find the 2011 model)
Mustang Boss 351
Lotus Europa
Estoque (Wrong store! Accidentally put the other model elsewhere)
Correction: Mini Challenge in blue

Target:

Blue Mazda RX-7
Toyota 4Runner
AM One-77
Plymouth Superbird

Dollar Tree:

Gallardo
IROC-Z
Falcon
Reventon
370Z

Walmart:

2 Fieros
El Camino
Coronet Super Bee
Ford Gran Torino Sport
Corvette ZR1 (Wanted a tasteful one) ;P

The M2 Machine that I bought for my friend. He's a big classic Mustang fan.

Today, visited the indoor flea market again. Been about a while since I last went there. And they restocked quite a lot more. :dopey: Unfortunately, in my hurry to get home quickly to return my mom's car before she had to go to work, I believe I saw an entire WALL of hw/matchbox. The one probably from the picture that they had on their fb page. I should have had a look...but I'll do it next time.

Chaparall 2
Ford GT (with Gulf-like paint job!)
Mazda RX-7
Infiniti G37
Jaguar D-Type
Range Rover Sport
Ferrari 333 SP

Unfortunately, I'm running out of space for loose cars. Hoping to get jammers, but they're only available online and of course, my parents would never allow me to purchase anything online... :ouch:

Sorry about the rather large post, but I hope you guys enjoyed it. :D

Nice collection there bro. :)👍

I have yet not found the FB RX7, IROC Camaro and a few others yet. I'm still looking though.

Oh yeah, next time when you buy a large quanity of cars, are you gonna use a backpack for storing the cars? I'm thinking of using one, espically when I'm out in California and I see some sweet cars out there. Just wondering.

R1600Turbo
I still find it hilarious that you have to sneak these things in.

I would think your parents would be glad you have a hobby and are spending your money on something that isn't drugs or alcohol. :P

Yeah my parents are kinda happy I'm still collecting though. But when money is needed for important things, they are strict on saving up money. They don't mind helping me with the expenses, but I too, should pitch in even more.

I'm saving up for my car, new PS3, money for college and some other things important. So buying a 1:18 seems expensive in my car collection. Plus building up my superhero/villian, Transformers, Resident Evil and other JDM figures and Jurassic Park dinos is outrageous, because of the prices in stores or online will force me more $$$. :(

So at least HW and MB still costs the same, so I'm good there. :D I have some "other" things they don't know yet as well, but I'm of age though. :sly:👍

If only they weren't so uptight about money. They didn't even take up a decent deal on buying a 2012 Subaru Outback because they felt that it was too much. And now that the sale is over, they gave up. (They're almost always off and on when it comes to THINKING about purchasing a car). I wish they would be ok with me collecting diecast cars. While my brother who's been collecting airsoft guns... (which had them freak out so much that my dad took a hammer to one of them) :guilty:

Woah, your brother collected airsoft guns?!

He still got them right? I so, which ones does he have? And why on earth would your dad take a hammer to them? As long he isn't hurting nobody. It's safe.

Nice, last name from a iconic classic. :D

Yeah, keep your eyes out for the BNR34. I love my Bay Side Blue RB26 ever since I picked it up. I'm looking for several more, espically in the Sonic Silver/Athlete Silver color.

Wish HW would make the Supra MKIV JZA80 also.

Tell him to get a real gun. It might survive the hammer attack. :D I just got this tonight.

Anyway, there are so many people who are anti-gun, so Medigo's dad is no exception. My mom also didn't like me playing with toy guns as a kid, and recently didn't like me buying nerf guns for my nephew, although I did get an OK from my brother(the dad) ahead of time. I'm considerate like that.

Funny thing though, when I was young, she threw away ALL of my hot wheels cars(actually they were Tomica's), but never touched my toy guns. Go figure.

Screw you with the boot sale grabs. amazing for that price, omg. The Shell rig alone should be worht that. And HOLY HELL THE MAJORETTE TRUCK WITH THE STAIR. I'm sure you know how difficult it is to find it complete. It looks in great shape, too. Screw you twice.

The Shell rig I find a bit meh to be honest, but it was cheap and I didn't already have one. The MB boat and hovercraft should each be worth what I paid for the lot, and the Mod Tractor and Rod Roller should be worth at least twice that each - especially with the tractor being a rare red version.

The Majorette was the priciest of the lot at 50p and is not quite as good as it first looks. The paint is mostly sound except on the raised details such as door handles, front edge of the hood etc where a lot of the paint has chipped away.

I'm sorry you didn't find any TH's, Car-less. :ouch: If it makes you feel any better, I went through an brand new dump bin and I couldn't find one. I suspect it was one of those new secret Super-TH that are not specifically marked in that bin. :guilty:

I'm not complaining as I did score a KITT and a whole bunch of other stuff I wanted for under a pound each, and it's not as if I normally do badly on the treasure hunts anyway - I already have 3 regular and 1 super 2012 TH on 2011 cards. This was the first box of cars I've seen with the new style cards though, so I may have overlooked something.

There are a Hotwheels F-150, a Corgi Juniors Mercedes Bus, A Majorette BMW 735, A Tomica Cadillac Ambulance, a Majorette Peugeot 105 GTI Convertible, a Corgi Juniors Hot Rodder and a Majorette JP4 Jeep the cars in the next pic were $2 for the lot

There are a Matchbox Superfast Articulated Truck, A Matchbox Lesney Car Transporter, a Matchbox Superfast Citroen SM, a Matchbox Lesney Ford Group 6, a Corgi Juniors Ford D1000 Skip Truck (with no skip), a Matchbox Lesney Team Matchbox Open Wheeler and a Matchbox Lesney Siva Spyder dont know why this is called a spyder as its a hardtop the cars in the next pic were $1 each

That's the Corgi bus that I'm missing, and the Majorette Jeep is another for me to add to the list of lost cars.

The MB articulated truck is not right. Those two halves are not meant to be together, and in fact I'm not sure the rig is meant to be articulated. I have the trailer with the correct tractor, but don't recognise that tractor at all.

I think I'm going to stop collecting cars after 2012... there's just too many I want and I still have debts to pay off. :(

You can't, bud. You like them too much already. You may slow down, but you won't be able to stop.

Actually, I can; just never go to the toy sections anymore. I'm not a shopper not do I enjoy shopping really. I've already dumped a lot of money on my longboard, and I'm fairly sure as long as I have my mind on other things, I'll forget about the cars. All I need to do is so stop coming around here before someone posts the 2013 poster.

It'll be much harder to stop than you think. I tried to stop when Mattel bought the Matchbox brand as I didn't like what they did to the range, but 10 years later and I was spending as much as ever, just on Hotwheels instead. And it's not as if I actually stopped in between. I just spent less as there were less good cars that caught my attention.

Picked up a 2010 Datsun Bluebird 510 today and a few others. The selection in the stores I went to was pretty small. Mainly 2011 cars as well.

Whereabouts in Devon are you? The North of the county is not exactly built-up, yet I've still managed to find plenty - nearly 50x 2012 cars already in my collection this year!

Thanks! I would use my backpack to sneak them in, however it's rather pointless when I don't have my own car anymore... :( If I did, I'd drive out after school/work to buy some and put them in my bag. Except that wouldn't be necessary since I'm always the first one home.

My older brother did collect airsoft guns. He's still got just about all of them, with some at home and some with him in college. Don't really know the models and what not. Not a gun person. :indiff: The reason my dad broke one of them because of his frustration with my brother spending money on them. It's mainly the money part that angers my parents... Don't know why but kind of feels weird to say this, my brother doesn't really go out and actually use the airsoft guns. What he does instead is sit around and reload them and aim them around (not at people) when he's bored.

A couple of finds from the flea market I was considering: MX-5 Miata, Chrysler Atlantic, New Models Evo X, purple Diablo, BMW 850i, and that's about all I can think of what I was interested there at the moment. I think I might go there rather than go to the stores for my next run. It just feels a bit more fun to be at the flea market finding old models.

South coast, Torquay.

Much more built-up than Barnstaple, but also more touristy. Still I'd expect all four of the main supermarkets to be within 20-30 minutes drive. There must also be a branch of Wilkinsons and a couple of poundshops / souveneir shops in Newton Abbot or Paignton if not Torquay itself. Drop into all of these whenever you are passing and you'll soon build up a picture of which ones are worth visiting, and which are a waste of time.

You should also have more/bigger boot sales down there too, so with a little effort I'd expect you to have no trouble finding more/better cars than I can up here.

Need to be a member of HWC to see the link. Thanfully I am. Really good save, wheels are repros, but the thing that really strikes me is the glass, it looks like new.

That restore looks brilliant, love the colour.

Well the Sainsburys near me had the smallest box I've seen, I walked past it twice. Wilkinsons has 10 cars on display..

The Poundland was just so busy I pretty much did this

I've yet to try other supermarkets as they're not as close, but will keep an eye out when I do go out those ways. Same goes for Carboot sales, now that summer is on its way.

People have reported the first KITT and Red Express Wagon grabs over here in Mexico City. Time to go huntin'.

Your right Carless they dont belong together. I had a closer look and they have been forced together but it came in a bag of cars that cost $2 and the others were all ok.
