Walked into Walmart this morning and found a Surf Crate Treasure Hunt. Already have one and it's not a casting I like so I left it for the next guy.

That's awfully nice of you to make someone else happy.

..........XsnipX........

More old cars, Cano! That Focus reads '2000' in the back. Golf GTI, Javelin, I had very little interest in, but they are actually pretty nice models. Very excited about the black 510 as I'm pretty sure I didn't have this color. I don't know where this particular Walmart store found all these old cars, but they sure made the stop worth it! Curiosity Rover was stashed hidden where I happened to see when I bent over to pick up a hot wheel I dropped on the floor(don't you guys hate that?). I felt bit guilty, but not that much. I didn't have one yet.

...........XsnipX.............

I hope you're feeling really, really GUILTY! Bad boy. Give me all those cars - every one in that post is wanted by me (our collections are very similar ) All your karmic debts instantly settled.

a6m5, My Photobucket account does the strangest things when it comes to GTP, anyway - if I do any type of work on my pics (cropping, resizing, rotating, etc) - it never comes out, but is posted at GTP as the original. So if I've flipped the camera over to take some obtuse angle, and try to correct the pic, it stays corrected and the right way up in my PB account, but gets posted into the Forums here as the original. Creepy. Still trying to iron it out - I believe there must have been some error-file in the last batch I downloaded, that affected the rest since I noticed that the batch was missing some pics after the download.
Anyway - I went back and recovered some more of the Celica pics - hope this one comes in full and right side up:

Edit: Yes, it did. Good. The last batch must have had a worm.
I really like the spare retro look of the card, the blue and grey, and the simple skid mark to signify movement - and the typography - all harkens back to a time when things were few, and simple, and marketing credibilty was not always open to question (or mass competition) - which is why we're bombarded with visual hype on packages today.
More pics that failed to show from yesterday, here today:

Another Fortress for my collection of 'Naughty Ladies' - and the Alfa 155 look-a-like, as well as the Manga are my favourites in that lot. The Olds 442 was a must for my fleet of 442s. I need to get my paws on more of that Amazoom variation.

I find the tampos of the Z's flames a trifle hairy, the Mustang Mach is nice, and the Scion definitely cannot be left like that.

My usual pick-up of MBs liveried commercial vehicles but the Shark was purchased in Goat's name. SpaceGoat - do you have this Sharkcruiser?

Yes, I did mention I was tree'd, chief. Congratulations.
Harry, by the way, he really showed you. You got pwned.

SJKFGTRHJEBGVJKSDQEFLGHLGJKDBG THE VECTORRRRRRRRRRRR

I NEED THAT CAR.
It's actually much nicer than seen in the crap picture I took of it, but it really doesn't do it for me. Wheels/tires are super nice, but I'm still wishing it was in black!

Yeah, right. I think this was the second time I scoured bunch of stores looking for the darn car, and I have yet to find one! I'm just hoping Mattel's planning on flooding the market with the darn car.

I use ImageShack + PhotoBucket, and they sometimes rotate my pictures. It is tricky fixing it, too.
The Olds 442 was a must for my fleet of 442s.
I'm just glad they did good, unlike the Buick GSX, which I didn't even bother. You probably know, but I love 442 too, and Hurst model is definitely worthy. :D:tup:

If I was a full-on collector, I'd have this car just for the artwork. The actual car didn't impress that much, but every time I run into it, that picture makes me wanna smile. I think it's the teeth.

If I were in your shoes, I'd done the same. If I didn't have the car, it's one thing, but if I did, and didn't care for it.......... bah. Even one's I like that I found like Tyrrell, El Camino, I wouldn't need another one.

Speaking of Treasure Hunt cars, I hope I find one again soon. I haven't run into one in awhile. :D

Edit: Jun's Datsun 510 Wagon is supposed to hit stores in November. Also, in the photos we posted it looked like it had red windows which is not the case. The car was sitting under a red awning which gave the windows their red color. So I assume they'll just be tinted.

Also, someone posted this in the HWC thread about the car:

That is a nice one,I do like the old datsuns and toyotas and hondas they had more of a personality than the newer cars do, each had its own look.

To which one of the HW designers responded:

2013 will be a good year for you...

:eek::D:tup:

Just thought I would point out, the card for that new Celica will look like this in the USA when it's released: (has been found in Georgia, so starting to hit stores now...)

Only difference is the "New for 2013!" under the HW logo.
And, of course, the helmeted heads over the logo top left. US Marketing Gurus decided 'NEW' (as in Look! Next Year's! Be first with it!)and 'Symbolic Racing Metaphors' will sell toy cars in the States. :sly:

And, boy, did they busy up that card with advertising.. . .

I'm so happy that they moved the names to below the car; that'll make for much easier searching on pegs let alone the arm and neck aches the vertical names bring. :yuck:

I have that Sharkruiser... but you didn't ask me. :(

My dear AOS- WTH am I thinking - I do beg your pardon - first off sorry for not responding about the SP2 - yes, do get it, but hold on to it - maybe there'll be others I want that are in your area - though you are just a 1/2 hr drive from me - and maybe you can add to my cart before you pack it off eventually.

As for the Shark - do you collect them, too? I know Spacegoat has a shaol them so I actually picked it up for him - in case he hadn't that variation and would like me to send it to him. It was the only one on the pegs, but if you are a Shark collector, too, I'll definitely keep an eye out for you.

That's the impression I've been getting from your posts, lately. I'm not gonna lie, I love what I'm hearing.

So, yeah..... is it like, are you telling me that I've been chasing a car that's not yet released in the States? I was going to make a joke about Canada, but too many people get offended on the internet. Sad, but true.

Someone in Georgia has found it, that's all I know.
All this time, I thought others has beaten me to it, but I think it's safe to say, I've been chasing a ghost. A ghost soon to be born..... as a baby new hot wheel.

I know Spacegoat has a shaol them so I actually picked it up for him - in case he hadn't that variation and would like me to send it to him.

You must have me confused with someone else, Harry. I only collect real cars, so I'll have to respectfully decline, your very kind offer.

Although, I can't express how much, I appreciate the thought. 👍

👍

I've been checking Fred Meyers on fairly regular basis, who I believe are part of Kroger group. Unfortunately, it also happens to be most impossible place to locate any hot wheels of value. They have tons of them, and not one of them worthy.

I smell inside job.

How many of ya'll celebrated shark week?
bc959db0.jpg

Sorry Spacegoat - I got you mixed up with Sonygamer - :ouch:

Dare someone ask me again "What's in a name?" :grumpy:

Well - the offer still stands - but I see that he already has it. Now I'm stuck with a Shark circling my collection. Good thing I got the Sharkhunting El Camino.

Edit: Got a sudden job fall into my hands today - an older couple need both their bedrooms painted - so the few off-days I got planned before I start the next Biggie, got blown out of the water; this means work tomorrow, so not much time to play - either tonight or tomorrow. Well - got to feed the family. And buy more HWs.

So you guys check stores pretty much everyday?

Certain stores. Maybe one or two.

AOS-
The foamcore on my display shelf is showing signs of warping. The center of each row has started to dip down a tad. Just letting you know now to think about what to do during "maintenance" time.

I don't see it in person.

Must be the photo.

So you guys check stores pretty much everyday?

As for me - I rarely make an actual trip solely for purchasing HWs. Maybe a couple of times - that's a nice feeling; got a bit of moolah in your pocket, got some time to do whatever you want - okay, special trip to one of Santa's workshops.

My usual buying habit is to always swing by the HW/MB aisles if I happen to be in a store that carries them; and many of the stores I visit on a regular basis (almost everyday) carry them.
Even a visit to the Dollar store for some cheap brushes ends up with a quick flyby past the Maistos.
Other buying habits are to drop into the odd Swap shop or Charity store and a quick 5 minute browse through the discarded toys section.

Edit: I never hit eBay - for reasons I shall disclose in a moment. (Can't do all the talking in here, yer know. ;) )

Just to elaborate, just because I go to stores everyday doesn't mean I buy everything in sight. :P

Spent maybe $15 in the last couple weeks.

I did over $40 in the last couple of weeks. New cars; can't be helped.

I'm going to be doing big eBay purchases eventually... look forward to splooging about the cars I'm going to get, but not so much about the money involved. Someone got eBay sellers they can recommend me? Good service? Low prices?

Got more pics coming up. Ben and Cano have peed me off so bad recently that I had to go shopping again.

Man you'll be absolutely soaked in the next several days then. I just spent my entire weekend taking pictures of my cars. I'm SO gonna make a post tomorrow just for you.

No I didn't forget. In fact I made it today. So:

IMG_0708.jpg

This came in filled with cars, but not the ones it now contains. I was planning to sell the Aurora case but given that it's in pretty much mint condition, is also pretty hard to find so most likely I won't never see another one, and no one here knows what the heck Auroras are anyway, I kept it.

Now on to the inside; I repeat, these are not the ones that originally came with it, I filled it with random cars from the recent E-Bay smash-up:
IMG_0709.jpg

you know what's next.

I FINALLY got my hands on the First Edition VW Bug (green one). The red flamed one is also pretty difficult to find. Both mint.
IMG_0710.jpg

The yellow Turbostreak and the green Turbowedge, for an all-business snail-fed pair. The Turbowedge is also a Hi-Raker car, you can notice that in the rear picture, it has it's ass way up in the air. This thing is pretty hard to find, and I just forgot an auction with the orange one -_-
IMG_0712.jpg

AT LAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTT THE GREEN AUBURNNNNNN!!!!! I chased this car YEARS. It's probably the hardest to find Auburn variation along with the white one. The 40 Ford sedan is a relative bonus, as it's a much more common car. No one's complaining, for sure.
IMG_0714.jpg

Finally a minty Crack-Ups Taxi. The T-bird is a Convertable, you introduced a plastic key or something like that in a hole in the base and the orange stuff popped out. The Taxi's flip-out damaged part is also minty.
IMG_0716.jpg

IMG_0718.jpg

I upgraded my Dodge D-50 with this beauty, which as you can also see, is another Hi-Raker. The Paramedic Super Van is pretty hard to find in decent condition. This thing was not a redline by mere months.
IMG_0719.jpg

The silver Mercedes on Gold Hot Ones, complete with dog in the rear seat, flanks a Pontiac J2000, another car that I had been chasing down for years. Now I just need the like 12 mexican variations of this car. I need a lot of money for that. It pains me just to think about it.
IMG_0721.jpg

The black 65 Mustang is one of the hardest to find versions of that model. The Cobra might seem pedestrian at first, but peek again: it's the "427" tampo on the hood variation, very rare.
IMG_0723.jpg

Yup, we all know they open their hoods. Suck it, still:
IMG_0724.jpg

And the best... nay, the rarest for the last, as this blue, 1983-Speed Machines Hare Splitter is one of the haardest to find variations of this coveted car. It's not in the best of shapes but it's here, got dammit. Short of finding a rare, foreign-market (Mexico, India or France, for example) version, this is as hard to find as they come.
IMG_0726.jpg

Only later did I notice I messed up the open-hood pic. Notice horrible plastic base.
IMG_0727.jpg

I'm done for now, but expect more of the same in the next days.

You . . . .

I. Don't even . .

The 427 tampo . . Crack ups Taxi ... green:censored:Auburn . . .

:banghead:

How come the Colorimeter is so cold? Green FE VW Turbo? Looks blue even in the box.

Your photographs are obscenely good as usual. 👍

Id like a Vector. What would you like for it. Ive been seeing some Bently's around here if you are still after them.

I'll be sure to get you a Vector next time and put it in your still yet-to-be sent box. 👍 Not exactly sure what I want to trade for them yet, but I'll get to you on those ASAP.

it's an odd shade of turqoise. Quite hard to get in pictures, I'd have to go photoshop on the car, select it and all that, forget it.

Thanks for the comments (:

He just has a camera that can do macro...

Sorry, that is no macro-mode. I am indeed the owner of a new Canon SX40, with which I took these. The pictures are zoomed up, not macro'ed. Macros look like this:
IMG_0064.jpg

Pretty much in your face as you can see, and with a portion of the car well off-focus because of the macro nature.

But he doesn't have this!:

Ugh I don't. And I want it.
