Pithy, pithy car-yolas.

SkylineFaux - Great rack. What's it - about 5' X 4', and holds 200 cars? Slate-grey stain and polyurethane may give you a nice finish on the light wood. Bit of work, though.

@ SkylinePhony, I like the use of black to hide the visual separators that is the rows and columns, but I'm not big on the bigger white frame, unless there was a purpose for dividing display into 6 groups.
I'm not so sure why we colored the big dividers white in the first place, but if I had to take a guess, it's to separate whatever series I have in there. Top shelves are for the 60th Anniversary Ferraris, middle columns are for my FTEs/other casts I collect (Sling Shot, Split Decision, Tow Jam, etc.) and the lower ones are the main casts I collect (Nissans mostly). Gotta say though, it's way better than the first color it was in: red all around.

Speaking of Skylines, family shot (c'mon HW, where's the R33?):

Trippy canvas. I like it.

Thanks. Don't know the measurements exactly, but yeah, it can hold about 200 cars. The bottom racks are missing some dividers so that more cars can be put, and in a different way (hence why most of the cars down there are displayed at an angle). First thing I need to do about it though is to actually put some kind of clear cover on it. My cars get dusty so fast it isn't funny.

Yes, those bloody dust-bunnies love our cars, don't they . . . the cars in packages on display on my wall are the ones worst hit - so it requires a monthly (or so ;) ) brush down with a Swiffer duster. I have about 350+ on the wall, including 5-packs and combos, framing a rack that holds 300 open cars (pics posted previously). The open cars on the rack are no problem since they are constantly being taken down and played with, customised/photographed/raced, etc, and therefore don't sit around long enough to gather dust.
I find a quick rinse under the tap (most cars - some don't like being bathed) gets rid of the dust quick, and a wipe-down with a soft cloth brings them back to life.
The rest of my cars are in large, covered plastic trays, closed shoeboxes, and a separate chest of drawers dedicated to stuff for investment/trading.
Then I have another, 2 X 3 wooden tray to hold all cars being customised, and all the associated parts that have been removed - no tools in this to damage the finishes, just the cars, parts, wheels, etc.

I do have some cars scattered around the home in 'nooks and crannies' (mentioned this here some 8000 posts ago and got a few odd 'looks'). These are cars that are mostly ornaments - or just pretty arrangements, cameos, mini-dioramas, if you will, that may be at the corner of a counter, or atop a cabinet, or side table, and so on - and those do gather dust - and the dust will stick if left too long. So I have to get at them every few months or so - but sometimes this gives me the chance to change the arrangement and enjoy something new as I pass by.

Large racks with cars that are not taken down too often would need some type of clear screen; I think there are plenty of cheap, lightweight see-through materials out there now at Big Box Hardware Stores, as well as tracks, sliders, and fasteners that go with them, to make clear protective coverings easier to install and functionally efficient.

I was surprised to see that the frame was originally red - I took it to be bare Pine or Ash. :)

Glad you like the canvas - I was opening some muscle-cars recently and decided to throw them in with my muscle-car collection - then decided to analyse the ratio of colours - and was surprised to find so many blue muscle-cars. My kid was around when doing this and I painted a quick picture for him after the analysis, because he was so taken up with all the colours. There was only one black. (?)
I gave myself a challenge to create the picture with only the cars on the canvas, and every car had to be used. Was fun. Glad you got a smile out of it. 👍

Here's a full-face angle, more for the cars, than the picture of beach:

I just figured that for the time it would take to search "1979 yellow Hot Wheels truck Speedy Removal tampo" and look through pages to find the answer, you guys would know what it is as soon as I could photograph it.

Hey, someone on HWC has one of these up for trade, here's the photo:

Looks like it was called "Super Scraper" at the time (Gee, wasn't I right about name changes?) which leads me here. What country is cast on the bottom?

One question, looking to get Real riders wheels for a custom Datsun... What is the beast way to get the wheels, cheap?

JELLY!!!!

Went on a road trip up north with my friend to buy his pickup truck. Much fun was had and after we got back to our hometown, we went to VIP to buy wipers for the truck. And we felt like looking around the store a bit more and found a bargain bin. And there was two Speed Machines! Though...they were the same. The Ford GT LM, likely a rejected one amongst the line up... For $2.

Glad they went with a simpler design on the Datsun 510, without those weird things behind the wheel arches...

Yea,those outcoves dont do it for me, and on that proto the bars seperating the front and back windows are gone, but not proffesionally, they were like just cut off with some scissors to see how it looked without them. Lol

They probably did that to see if they could put the B-pillar molded into the plastic windows instead of making it part of the body.

That's a lot of money. You'll also love to know that I destroy most Highway 35/aceleracers I find for their wheels. Sorry.

That convention Cobra looks really cool.

I do like that Cobra, yet I had 7 of them... Thats why I Put them up sale on ebay and trade them at shows, down to my last three now...

It was the same thing with the Trucks had 7 got 2 left...

Edit: If anyone wants One of those Shelbys, Im sure we could Make a deal 👍

Where can I view those pictures larger? Then I may have an answer for you. :sly:

On a separate note, I believe these are the wheels you fellas were conversing over earlier. My pair of Daytonas have them. As well as the 308, P4, and 512M from the Ferrari Garage segment.
