I'm gonna have to get around to getting one of those Radio Flyer cars. đź‘Ť
Well good luck:)đź‘Ť If you can find a place that sells them older hot wheels, you may find one.:)

Yeah, there are a few Hot Wheels I want bad enough that I'll overpay for them.
i.e. first release Evil Twin and Surf Crate.
Yea since that is one i have had that one for a long time and it was very roughed up, i thought i would get a new one.:D Personally i don't understand how ya'll think $5 is over paying because that vehicle dates all the back to 1984 and about every car i see from that long ago is usually worth a pretty good amount.

South Texas Diecast lists it for $7 in Mint Loose condition.
Well thats worthy enough if you ask me:) You really can't find cars of that age or older for a small buck now adays. Believe it or not i read that yellow Miata i posted earlier with the pink interior goes or about $5. (on average)

Honestly a car is really only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I would start values out for cars at what they were paid for retail, then use sites like eBay to get a better idea. One can't just say "it's worth this much" without actually having a way to back it up.

Yea... if no ones to buy then its worth nothing..

Winston Churchill once said, "Everything is worth what it's purchaser will pay for it.".

Or was that Socrates? I can't remember.

^very true... though it gets easyer the more collectable the cars are, eg.. its fairly easly to judge RL pricing
Yep that is true, any old red lines are always worth a huge price. As a matter of fact when i went to buy that Thunderbird, there were a bunch of them old red lines there and they were pretty pricey! Im talking ones all the way back from 1968! I imagine collectors love olf red lines.

Agreed. I have a dark blue Double Header RL that is supposedly worth $180 loose, but due to its condition it's probably worth less than $50.

What someone is selling something for is not always what it's worth. ;)

That's why it's good to be "in the know" on values so you don't get suckered into paying too much for something. If they won't budge on price, well then they don't deserve the sale.

I doubt my redlines would be worth any more than $10 in their condition.

Yea i know, i have had a dishonest salesman before, told me his red sho stopper was over 20 years old but i knew that wasn't true.:sly: The man i seen selling them redlines, well he did "budge" on his prices;) He offered a smaller price on any vehicle i asked about.:) Bottom line, to conclude this, different people have different results.;)

I wouldn't sweat it. Peep's gotten on me about how I've "overpaid" for certain cars before, but 1) It was the best possible price I found, and 2) in time frame that was acceptable to me. Yeah, not all of us are willing to wait over a year to purchase some car. There's been more than one case that car I was too cheap to pay the full price on eBay has since gone up about another 50% or higher, and are no longer in reasonable price range, or in reach.

It doesn't matter if Cano(pricing nazi lol) find the price acceptable or not, we don't have the connection or resources that he has. We all live in our unique market. eBay's an excellent example. Unless you paid some ultra-high 'buy it now' price, if you ended up going high because you had to outbid someone, all you did was pay the market price. Sure you win some, you lose some, as far as the final price goes, but as long as you come out good overall, IMO, you are doing fine. Pricing nazi do keep the rest of us honest though. :D

I buy in E-Bay, just as the rest of you.

I'm indeed a price nazi, though. I can honestly say my collection is very VERY low budget, however I have soem really scarce and expensive cars. It all comes down to buying a bunch together. When you price down each car, I'm sure that several of the rarer cars I have like 80s Real Riders and redlines have never cost me more than 4 bucks.

What I've bought & received recently:

Some supermarket stuff + Tomica & older Countach from eBay.

Tomica 240Z/Fairlady Z from eBay. It looks sooo good. Much better than I expected.

Sorry for the crap photography as usual. I did my best!

Very true about eBay, but I think that's when things like time frame comes into play, also indeed your purchasing power that comes from the quantity, or the larger size of the lots. I don't want to take away your eBay-savvy either. You actually know a thing or two about this hobby, and obviously are more experienced trader.

You really do keep us honest. You are our price/trade commissioner.

Lol your crap 930 arrived, with the supermarket cart wheels. Ew.

The 240Z on the other hand, sex. Tomica Limiteds are awesome. I'm waiting for one to arrive as well, but it ain't a Nissan...

I looked at the one, too, McZ. It came down to pricing. Mine was $12.98, including shipping. One you got there I think they wanted around $20.

You, like, made your point already last week.

I can't wait to see what you got coming! :)

P.S. I still have my mystery :P childhood car coming in via eBay. Most money I've paid for a single car so far!

@a6m5 i seen a yellow version of that countach just recently;)
My preference is red, but I like yellow & black about the same.... also white. On this particular Countach, seller accepted my best offer of $1.50(+$2.50 shipping), so I went with it. :dopey:

Gosh this thread moves fast...

Cool to hear that you're finding your childhood cars, a6m5! Always a fun, but at the same time frustrating job. Also jelly over the Bentley...still...

TOTALLY OVERPAID.

I'm under arrest, on my way to jail now. Price police on patrol!

Yeah, this car comes & goes on eBay. Some week, there will be handful to choose from, while some week, they don't have one. I've seen this car go for a much, much higher than I've paid, but I have to warn you guys, it will bore you to death. What can I say, it is one of the two earliest toy cars in my memory.

On Bentley, like I said, this is your Kenmeri Part II. Just be patient, and worst case scenario, you can have mine. đź‘Ť
