Is that a Miura? I think the driver's about to die.

Never seen this one before.
4 bucks supermarket purchase, and the only I ever bought off Ferrari's series because, well, they're Ferraris. Ew.

Four bucks though. Score!
Nice cars, but you gotta open some of these guys sometime. Just looking and touching them is like the actual car, you just gotta get behind the wheel to enjoy. ;)
I also got Holden Ute(Matchbox) for the same purpose. Holden & Fisker's very cool. Furai on the other hand, I held it in my hand, I am not impressed.

👍 👍 You know how to play, Cardiac. Keep enjoying the World - in all its sizes and senses.

a6m5 - you talking to me? If you are - then that's a Dino . . . you guys were talking about Dinos, no? Not a Dino? What is it, then?

Edit: Alright, off to check my Ferrari Manual . . . if I can find it.

Okay - chew on this then till I get back - Outta Time!

Drawing a blank, a6m5. This is an older car from my collection and I was always under the impression it was a Dino, or at least a spin-off; there are no markings on the base of the car except for NO. 817 MADE IN CHINA. Couldn't find a lookalike IRL - not within my books nor on the 'net.
Maybe Cano might know . . . now I'm curious!

Looks like a Miura, but there are huge differences in the hood vents and rear decklid grilles, as well as the front radiator grille. Otherwise it does have the same muscletone as the Miura.

Apologies, my sense of humor is 12 years old. :P

Anyway. I'm digging the 2010 Challenger mystery model. Yet another one to add to the very, very long list of "wants".

Harry: Probably a made-up car to dodge the copyright law. I think it most looks like Miura, but yeah, I was questioning the front end.

Yeah, really disappointed in you, Magic. I have really high standards. *fart*

Same.

I just found this by accident: Tomica Limited - 1984 Toyota Celica I don't even care for the car, not even when I was a kid, but if I was made out of money, I'd buy it. Very cool model.

Now I have the image in my head - and when a6 figures in it it takes strange turns.

Here's another of my new picks - just today, actually, since I had to go to Toys r Us with my kids (Halo 4 preorder) and that gave me an excuse to browse the wheels.

The HW pegs were chock-a-block. Best way I can put it. Crammed? Okay. Wall to wall - 16 feet of it and pegged from pegboard to tip of peg. Cars about to fall off if you so much as looked, never mind took a breath. No one in the aisle. My teens had taken off by themselves - browsing the videogame corral.
Hmm, I think - well WTH, maybe pick up 5 HWs as a treat. Cost me less than ten bucks. Less than a pack of cigarettes over here in Canada, anyway - and infinitely longer-lasting (and healthier) pleasure.
So I set myself in front of the display, but I don't touch; I'm a veteran of dodging the 'pick up and throw it into the black hole of the shelf, or try to peg it back and more fall off' trap. So I'm doing the giraffe, scanning the labels, gently moving this or that aside if I need to scope more closely. No $THs, no THs, nothing but a lot of $$$$ looking back at me. All same, same, same. Nothing I collect, anyway, and nothing I want that I don't have already.
Okay - I see a Tarmac Attack and a Canyon Carver, and finger those out then manage to nudge a silver Golf, red ZR1, and chrome Hollowback out from the throng of packages plastered on the pegs. The clerk who stocked up this morning must have been a sadist - or at the most complimentary, a very enthusiastic salesperson. I did drop a package, but put it back on another less choked peg.
Then around the corner comes these two asian gentlemen - maybe late twenties, - flank me on either side aggressively after giving me the quick up and down, (I see them glance at the cars in my hand with a "WTF? Those cars?" look) and start to methodically work the pegs from top to bottom starting on either end.
Good Luck, I thought to myself, stepping back a bit since I was done anyway - and I was more into checking out the MB section (my preferred brand - even mutated by Mattel's mutilation) and also Maisto, since I like their Premium lines.
I move across from them and am instantly grabbing the Ford Roadster and goggling at a stunning Plymouth Savoy when next thing I know is the swearing. Well, I don't know the language but it sounded like two very angry gentlemen doing more bending, picking, pegging and swearing thing than buying HWs.
Scalpers have to work for their money, eh? But were they scalpers? I'm not sure about that. Quite possible. And lately - I've noticed a lot more adult men around the HW aisles - only once a woman, (and she was with her kid, but she looked definitely more interested in the cars than the kid was - he wanted to go elsewhere.)
And these adult guys are quite aggressive in front of the pegs, flexing shoulders, and sticking elbows out, and throwing the dagger stare, and so on, in this little cock-fight to get the STHs and so on to make a few bucks.

I picked up the '63 Plymouth Savoy instead. Love this new car, always wanted to have a model of it. It's going to be a blast to open it, feel it, smell it, nibble on it, roll it, race it, display it, photograph it, mod it.. . .

Guess I'm a 'Car Guy' at heart. ;)

I like Ferraris.

Excuse to post pictures.

One more mainline for good measure.

:D

That 575 is one of the Speed Machines I'm missing. I have the mainline in yellow. Apok, is the red also metal/metal?

I adore Ferraris. Oh! What a marque.

@A6: Well in that case with the Furai, you need a fresh blister of Furais without it being "soggy".

@Photon: Yep gotta enjoy these little guys al the way to their 1:1 RL scale counterparts that you can operate.

Ask any car guy, a REAL car guy. It don't matter if it's a 1:64 Hot Wheel to a 1:1 RL version of the HW or AutoArt 1:18, They are machines to be enjoyed. *opens arms out like a boss*

I've seen models that are thousands of dollars seated on the desks of some of the biggest (and richest) car guys. And yeah, they get handled.

That Stratos posted in the Scale Model thread, for instance . . . crikey.

Yes, it does have a metal base. :D

Oh and you mean thiiiiis yellow mainline?

Sorry about the dark picture. It was before I could be bothered with making them look nice.

What is your sig trying to say in Japanese?

It says something about the "forum becoming a market, but why are you displaying pictures of model cars? foolish. everyone will likely sell model cars there. sad, but true."

I've never been more confused. :dopey:

Arigato and Sayonara?

Apok - my yellow 575 came without the glass.
Back with a pic in a moment.

Edit: Here you go:

Pretty annoyed it came like that in the 5-Pack.
Coincidentally, the 360 Modena that was in the pack, had two glasses fitted into it, mashed one atop the other.

Actually, I'm referring to a local diecast forum which I'm affiliated to. It really turned into a marketplace with all those FOR SALE threads. There were members who actually stopped sharing pics of their model cars because of that. And I am really depressed that even some would sell a high-end 1:18 scale model car just to buy a the "hottest" item around. And then, they will sell it again.

Is that what you call "collecting"?

EDIT: Here's the translation:

フォールムは市場になれば、なぜあなたはモデルカーの写真をまだ見せてい るの? くだらない。そこで皆はモデルカーをまだ売るだろう。悲しいだけど、それ は真実だ。

"If that forum has turned into a market, then why are you still showing off pictures of your model cars? It's useless. Everyone probably just sells their model cars there. It's sad but that's the truth."

You have to check with R1600Turbo; he knows. ;)
AFAIK - Sotheby's would call it that.

I would call it investing.

Also - Welcome to the thread - I am glad you decided to contribute in here. Don't forget to visit the Diorama thread in the Photo Forum and drop some of your great realistic pics in there, too. :)

You have a great collection there - would be awesome to see a collective panoramic shot. 👍

Interesting point you've brought up. Me, I'm the easy-going, accepting type. It is what it is. We can all co-exist. Blah-blah-blah.

On collecting, personally, like most everything, I think that there are different approach & philosophies involved. I don't think someone is "doing it wrong", just because you break my rules, or I break your rules to "collecting".

Don't get me wrong, you have full right to express your opinion. Very interesting subject. 👍

Not sure what you mean by that. I've just sold off part of my collection and changed gears to something else. No harm done.
