 :@: the mountain of card in the background.

Dude, all of the pics of the Delivery cars had the mountain of trash behind them. That recently?

I can match that. I still have 3 bags of garbage 97% of which are blisters, cards, bubble wrap an newspaper.

You can't. Your trash is not from bluecards from the late 80s-early 90s, Garage and Delivery series, yours is 98 and-up basic line. Toooo new, fella.

I'm sorry, I was too busy before salivating your other trucks to notice the background before.

R1600Turbo
They only have a handful of the Skylines. No R34's, Vipers, etc. Not too old, think middle of 2012 old...

Oh, like the SRT GTS, black and red 302 Laguna, blue RX7 etc....... Those ones? And if they do, any 2011 black 911 GT3 RSs or Genesis?

The K20A3 in the EP3s were rated at like 160bhp with a redline under 7,000 RPM.

Touché McZ, that is true about the EP3's K20. Those specs are the reasons that people swap the 8th gen Si Civic's K20, add upgrades for that engine or get the JDM K20Z engine. But the EP3 Si is not a common Si like the EK and 8th gen FG2/FD9 though.

I was thinking about this tonight guys and was wondering what cars you would realistically like to see Hot Wheels do for 2013 or maybe even 2014.

Myself, I would like to see Porsche's new 918 Spyder, Toyobarion GR86-S, perhaps a C7 Corvette, Red Baron II, and another car like Phantastique.

More hot rods. And when I say hot rods I mean honest, real-looking hot rods. The last hot rods that could more or less be called that, were these:

012-3.jpg

3618156576_ee61f7eaab.jpg

and both are absolutely whack. By contrast, the last true hot rod to grace the line as a new model was the midnight Otto, back in... 2002!!! And it wasn't really pretty to say the thruth, it hasn't had a really cool version that does look like ahot rod instead of a toy car.
2002_013a.jpg

If you are not really picky about your rods, the last real hot rod to grace the line was the 1940 Ford Coupe, that is also from 2002:
2002_024.jpg

If you're really picky, the last hot rod made by HW was this:
636a.jpg

adn that was in freaking 1998.

We could also count in the 1/4 Mile Coupe (2003) and the stupid Bone Shaker, (2005) or the Rat Bomb all the way to now practically (2007) but those are pretty damn fantasy too.

This is freaking sad. Hot Wheels has forgotten and important part of its roots. Don't take me wrong, I really like what they've been doing with muslce cars lately and the japanese stuff and blah blah, but the brand has really deviated from what it has always been known for.

Can't they do an honest to goodness Model A roadster with a blown flathead, a Track T, or a nice Victoria highboy? It really isn't that difficult, a hot rod doesn't have to look like freaking cartoon or be a stupid rat rod to be a hit, that's why today people still use the same tricks when building hot rods as they did in the 50s: some of the stuff is timeless. Apply that to a toy car and bang.

The amount of garbage, not what it was, you fool. I have Speed Machines and HW Garages too. And a Kyosho box. I don't know how you really have, but I said I could match what you have in that photo, ya jerk.

Good post, Cano. (#10,807) Couldn't agree with you more.
I'm still peeved with Mattel for the way they soiled MB with their lack-lustre quality control and small-mindedness when they lost fact that originally these cars were made for adult collectors. But of course kids are a larger market. And then it becomes kid-quality.

Realistic casts? More JDMs. More LeMans and Group C cars, more Rallys. I rather customize a crummy cast by mattel than to customize a nicely-done cast by Kyosho (for example).

We got enough muscle cars, way more than enough.

Fortunately, HW will never stop making muscle cars, because that's where they come from. From 1968 to now, Hot Wheels is sinonymous with far out muscle cars, and I'm glad.

Just recently they've been introducing all that stuff (rally cars, euro trash, japanese cars), but you really can't hope for more tan two or three per year. Fortunately.

918 Spyder is the new one right? Its coming out, think its a C-case car.

2 parcels just came in.... I await substantial amounts of jelly, especially because I got them for a cheap price, except the FXX and Gallardo. If anyone is interested a Ranchero or that van below, contact me. I probably won't sell the GMC to you- well I might, but probably won't. No one is getting the Speed Machines, and no one is getting any of the Hot Ones. :P

In your one-sided opinion that is.

As you said, there are other brands that do that stuff. Majorette is there to please your lust for rally cars and a lot of euro stuff, as is Matchbox (I'm sure you have noticed the several Dakar-inspired castings in their lineup); Tomica is there for japanese stuff and do a ton of very local, obscure cars. A bit more espensive, but not, for example, Greenlight-expensive.

By the same token, nobody does muscle cars as Hot Wheels. Big tires, stance, blowers, etc, or just plain straight-up stockers like this year's Cyclone Spoiler. There are other brands that do them, but from JL to M2, they are way more than a buck a pop. Hence, I really hope HW will stick to what they do, and just add hot rods to their mix again.

Same can be said for the Import stuff that some of us want. Why pay so much for a Tomica when we can have one from Hotwheels for a buck?

Argument is invalid. ;)

Yes, that is a big point lately. Hot Wheels is starting to eat the obvious brand -Tomica- in sheer awesomeness. Tomica has released japanese race cars and some euro stuff too, but lately Hot Wheels has gotten it's act together and is releasing a lot of tuned cars that the other brands wouldn't do if they were dead, and with better quality. Have you seen the Hakosuka casting from Tomica? It sucks. and as japanese as they might be, I can't see the releasing a bosozoku car like the Manga.

My argument still stands, though: you can't expect a lot of those in the HW lineup, and they will always be outnumbered by muscle cars, new or old. As I said posts above, don't get me wrong, I love what they are doing with these things, but I do hope the muscle cars will still outnumber the import releases.

Yep, some of them are 2012's on 2013 cards. Sorry to disappoint. :P

Maybe true. But us import lovers have Jun Imai to thank for the latest and greatest classic JDM releases. All hints from him and other designers is that they are taking the love of the JDM cars seriously and will be releasing quite a bit more. I know for sure we're getting the CRX in the Boulevard line this year, and possibly the RX-7. Wouldn't be surprised to see a few others pop up as new models. Can't wait for Jun's 510 wagon. 👍

I will say the multiple versions of cars like the Challenger and Cuda are getting a bit out of hand.

I'm referring to new castings. Too many variations of the same car that look the same.

Ah, like when they came up with the 70 Challenger, and two years later the 71, which was basicalle the freaking same? Yes, I concur. Then again, yu kinda reach the limits of how many muscle cars you can put out. Eventually they'll do mid-80s AMC AMXs becauswe they wont have more cars left. I hope they do that one, lol.

Here's my list of cars I want to see:

WARNING: long list.

This is what I was talking about. Take a look at that list and, looking at the brand's history, tell me if you really think HW will do even half of it. It's bogus.
