I'm glad I live here now. :D

I doubt I would buy them or buy as many as I do if they were sold here for that much. I'm guessing since Mattel is based in the U.S. it would cost less here. Even though they're made in Malaysia, I'd guess import/export taxes on these are different for other countries.

Here in the UK its a rip off, the cheapest they are is £1 ($1.60) and they all seem to short cards so your even getting screwed out of that extra bit of cardboard! Buy two are your loosing a whole extra car in tax :yuck:

Robin.

I've seen some here that came with short boxes, but not many. They're all like that in the U.K.?

Yeah, I've never seen any long cards here for sale in normal shops. I can't for the life of me understand why especially considering the price.

That's odd. Maybe Cano can have some insight on this when he gets a chance to read some replies. He should know.

wow, that is amazingly expensive!!!! :0 I wouldn't buy new cars for the life of me if they cost as much in here. I'm quite astounded by the price Europe seems to have on all these. I guess because we are so close to the US, we get them almost at the same price.

and no, I really don't know whack about why you all people only get short cards, we get both, depending on where you buy them. But hey, at least this year you're getting the blister illustration of the entire car instead of just half, like in the big card. A lot smaller, but still...

And dude, stop buying ten packs and start browsing e-bay. Really.

Haha, I know I've really got to stop that. I just get really excited when I see a car I really want and just have to pick it up. :P
I will start using ebay from now on if I want singles.

Here's the 10 pack from today.

And the CLK, which is the reason I bought.

I like $miglo's CLK better, though.

Me too mate! The black top and red bottom looks fantastic.

So far I have:

Mercedes%20AMG%20CLK%20DTM%20Dream%20Garage.jpg

Which is similar to what you've just got...

And just last Friday I bought this bike for half the price of what it should be. It's used anyway...

Ooowh maaan.. You're making us feel jealous

Sweet sweet looking CLK. I would sacrifice both of mine just for that one :P

If i see it again i will buy it and i will send you one :) as thanks for best wishes for Kubuca :)

Haha, hey that's cool mate but it's owkey. I'm sure it will cost you a lot to ship it here. Also no problem mate, I'm a big fan of him since the first time I got to know him :)

Anyone else have the all black CLK DTM that I have?

Well...Here's more of the collection - these are the actual die-casts. At least, the ones I wanted to show at the moment.

100_0254.jpg

Starting at the top and working our way Right and forward:

1: "Mad Dog II," one of two Matchbox models I have. This version has the paddle tires from my "Mud Monster" jeep in the front row.
2: The Nitro Machine, early '00s Hot Wheels Monster Jam. The real-life truck was Grave Digger 3 from '91.
3: Hot Stuff Pulling Tractor, Matchbox. Fictional, but part of the same line as the monster trucks. Never had the sled, though...
3: Goldberg, early '00s Monster Jam. Back when I thought Tom Meents was Cool.
4: Grave Digger, again, Early '00s Monster Jam.
5: The OTHER Mad Dog II truck. This one has the original tires. The real-life "Mad Dog" was a Chevy Blazer with a center cockpit and a sprint-car style wing atop the roll cage. It ran in the TNT series in the late '80s, campaigned by John Breen, whose name shows up on this Matchbox model.
6: Fly-N'-Hi. A Matchbox model of an obscure truck from the mid '80s that ran a Toyota body. I've never seen it on a TV program, so...(I also used to confuse this truck for Pablo Huffaker's Jus' Show 'n off.)
7: Sting, again, early '00s Monster Jam.
8: The Mud Monster jeep. Entirely fictional, it once had the paddle tires on the second of my Mad Dog trucks. The tires bound, so it now has Mad Dog's tires, which don't bind up.
9: Bigfoot, Muscle Machines, Early '00s. This was the ProMT truck, after Monster Jam kicked the Bigfoot team out. Very nice, this model has full suspension and four-wheel steer.
10: Awesome Kong II, Matchbox. Damn, was that one a helluva truck in it's day. It's a shame Matchbox never modeled the 3000HP ALLISON V12 that sat in it's bed in this bodystyle. That same truck later ran a blown Chevy V8 with a Chevy body...NARROWED TO 88 INCHES.
11: USA-1, Matchbox. This one's been loved a lot, you can tell. USA-1 was a hot truck in the late '80s, being the first national points champion in '88. The race truck, #2, also had WAY too much power for its leaf spring suspension, and in '89, flipped several times. Everett Jasmer still owns the name, #1 (what this model is based (loosely) on,) and #2, uses them for ministry - preach a little, crush a few cars - but he refuses to join the Monster Jam circus. I don't blame him.
12: Bigfoot, Hot Wheels, Early '90s. This is the die-cast model where the wheels come off, and can be replaced with huge Bigfoot 5-style wheels. unfortunately, i've misplaced two of the white wheels for this truck, so it's sitting on two of Snake Bite's green wheels.

awesome monster trucks!!! I never knew Matchbox made those. and they have their character trough hours of fun and use. Very cool.

And, people, really, what is the fascination with the DLK DTM? I find it to be a really badly done casting, but anyway, if you really want the finest one, it's the first one from 2007, all silver with multispoke wheels and gold 5 spokes variation:

I have both but never again bought it because, well, it stinks.

anyway, I'll show you something. This past weekend I went with a friend to his shop to coat in paint the trio of cars I'm restoring, and also took this with me:

It's a very rare 1940 Ford Woody from Hot Wheels, the first version (blue) ever released of this legendary casting (1979), it is extremely difficult to find in decent shape, so when this arrived in the last e-bay shipment I was happy... but someone had wiped off the black top this originally came with.

No, worries, though. Some masking tape here and there...

Aaaaand voilá, a new fabric top for my 40 Woody. The texture of the flat black is awesome, I like it even more than the original bright paint it had.

it gives it a damn whole new life.

cheers (:

And, people, really, what is the fascination with the DLK DTM?

I like the CLK because I'm into German's, that's why I really wanted it. Same goes for Japanese classics. :)

Also, I have to agree, the black top on the Woody does look better. I'm thinking about going to my local hobby supplies store and bring in some cars that really need a touch up or a full paint over. Would this be my best bet on starting to restore some cars, Cano?

I don't mean that I want them painted there, but to show the worker the color of the car and possibly pick out the right match.

:@: Jim Prower. The Awesome Kong is awesome! 👍

Maisto did some really excellent Merc castings when they were making small cars ages ago, I don't know if they still do though.

Then you must be very happy about the Hakosuka Skyline in this year's HW lineup.

Look, if the cars just have a few small dings and such, leave them like that unless it is an ENTIRE area you can repaint without having to pop open the car. You may notice that my woody has it's fair share of chips here and there but it's ok, it's original paint, it's mostly good and it's a really difficult version of that casting.

I tend to think you haven't been collecting for long, so most of the models you might have must be newish, they are not difficult to find at all and are cheap, I'd say go get them in like-new condition and just resell or fully customize the ones you want retouched. If they are old cars (like the Lesney Matchboxes shown @ last page) and they are in fair shape, leave them be. Only original once, remember.

If the car you want retouched is missing a lot of paint and has other issues such as bent axles and all that, the best thing you can do is open it and restore it properly, you know, entire new paint, wheel change, detailing, etc.

Post some pictures of the cars you want retouched and we can discuss further (: and also, you know, to see what you got.

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLY COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW:

http://hotwheels.wikia.com/wiki/VW_Brasilia

A VW BRASILIA HW CAR, I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE IT, I HAVE TO BUY IT, SERIOUSLY!!!!!!

I assume you are latin american, even from Brazil. There is no other way you could even know what a Brasilia is. Nice surprise, uh? I'm also on the lookout for that thing, as it was a very popular "square" alternative to the Bug in Mexico.

I had a mini crisis when i saw this..... Will check all stores across the nation rapidly.

dude, go to a café if you must but I want to see those promos and Lesneys!

There's no cafe anywhere near me. I'll have a new monitor in a week or two though. I wouldn't really call the promos exciting really, most of them are early 80's Chevettes, Camaro's, Corvettes, and El Camino's. There's some bigger non promo models (forgot what size) in the attic of alot of classic cars. Those are at least 20-25 years old. Once I get the monitor, I'll put plenty of pics up. I'll probably find other stuff I forgot about while taking pictures too. Really, there's so much automotive stuff all throughout the whole house that was accumulated since the end of WWII.
