I am too, but imagine a M1 with Matchbox's current quality and realism.

*also dies

Very soon only dead people in this thread. DVA zombies.

I don't even care what the paint job and wheels are like, I'm going to buy each and every one I see.

(Which with the current number of stores stocking Matchbox cars here might not even be 1)

Go for it, man.

Here's one of my three MB wall displays.

I did read up on that. It was an interesting post. :)

I remember posting and seeing the rumors of the BMW 1M and Range Rover Evoque for the Matchbox line. Hoping to see pictures eventually!

Managed to get out of the house an hour before work and stopped by Walmart, TRU, and Target. Target had two new Matchbox 5-packs(that aren't offroad cars), Walmart finally updated...it's entire diecast car section and stuff wasn't scattered all over the place with some F-Case cars, although the pegs were nearly empty... And TRU had nothing new, and the Retro Entertainment cars were nearly gone, except for the Edsels. ;) Although, my Walmart also had Retro Entertainment cars. The American Graffiti '32 Ford Coupe and the Mystery Machine. I'll get pics later, or tomorrow depending on how I can get them into the house tonight if I can

Edit: Finally got the pictures.

Walmart:

Target:

TRU:

Nice catch medigo! Specially the HW Aston dbs and the m3. I cant seem to find one locally.

Interesting grabs, Kev. 👍 Pink DeVille in the five car set's a interesting one. I still can't find Retro Entertainment, but again, I ran into cars I've been after:

They finally did right by the Subie! 👍

Harry, I bet you have the Matchbox Scion xB, huh? I just recently learned of its' existence. I love xB, and while I hate what Hot Wheels did with that car with passion, I absolutely applaud the job Matchbox did with it. Unfortunately, I still have to slap them too, because it seems that MBx made VERY few of them. Those little cars go for a lot of money, considering.
Yeah please, for the love of not supporting douche sellers, pay $4 for a Land Rover.
Dude, that included shipping. I don't think the seller's out of line at all.

I have one of those Lincoln TH's available if anyone wants it.
Have you guys noticed that these secret treasure hunts are much easier to find than the traditional green striped THs? I thought maybe they pumped up production of these things, but maybe that "secret" part is actually working?

Regardless, I bought the Lincoln because it's a TH, but I hate myself for doing it at the same time. Car is hideous.

Yeah, I have one carded and one loose. The only place around here that has a half decent collection of MB would be Toys R Us - the rest of the 'big boxes' hardly devote more than a row of pegs for them; it's mostly the big combos and aircraft that they carry. I have a few of the planes, too.

BTW - when are you going to start collecting again?:dopey: If you're not going to start again, send me all the cars you stopped collecting.

Might depend on the area. I only got mine at KDays, haven't seen any on the pegs for a while.

Still haven't found the Fleetwoods...want one of those. :grumpy:

I didn't even know about the two 5-packs, there were some cars I wasn't interested in. But some cars made them worth it.

I don't know if you remember, but this is my third one(I got two Camaro cop car). Maybe it's just me.

You shut your mouth, Harry.

I got one of their aircraft carriers for my nephew awhile back. He loved that thing. In my area, there seems to be pretty good selection of Matchbox cars, but it just sucks that I missed out on just a couple like this xB, and also the original Land Cruisers!

If you can find them. I expect them to be horded like every other TV or Movie release.
This is the frustrating part of collecting - scalpers. No doubt some enterprising individual might even go where no one dares go and put it on eBay before it's released to the general public.

Must you say that everytime he posts something?
( *to Cano cussin)

Of course 'Gamer; you'll live and learn. If he doesn't cuss you scored nothing.

Found a $TH focus at work !!!!!! And angry birds plus hiway hauler 3 so excited

 I felt the rush from over here, lad!

I thought this was a nice thread full of nice people.

What on earth gave you that impression?

;) DW is in the top ten list of 'nice guys', Kevin - he just talks that way. It's from inhaling all that lead that comes off the mountains of cars he has ferreted away under his banana plants.

I mostly pick them up from car shops and swap meets when I go with my father.

Here's a better quality photo of my collection, so you can tell what some of the cars are

I have yet to open and customize one, though.

EDIT: That glare is quite killer, ain't it? Anyway, the one that is covered by the damn glare is Way 2 Fast, in a darker brown metallic color with some blue decals.
......................
I also have a TON of opened ones I had as a kid, might share those when I have the time.

Nice to read that you do stuff like this with your Dad. 👍

That's a good collection to start with - may be interesting if you tell us why you picked some of them.
I see you're thinking about the brave new world of savaging customising cars, too - it's an absorbing hobby; quite a timewaster once you get into it - the customising thread will tell you a lot about it of course: tools, practises, pitfalls, tips and tricks.. . .
As for the glare - the next time you are looking through the lens (or your screen) pause for a moment and note where the glare is - forget the cars and look at where the light is. Then move around till you get the glare to go away, or you find the lighting you think shows it off best, then snap that pic. In fact snap several - it's not like you're trapping them in silver-oxide - these are just bits and bytes - and you may have several good shots to choose from.

I am glad you enjoy the blog. T-Hunted and Lamley are actually quite different. . . .

Since the rest of the gang are talking about it, I had to go take a peep myself (turned out longer than a peep) and I must say I was quite impressed with the enthusiasm, in fact passion, and the pics and knowledge that is poured in there. Good stuff - I'll be visiting, too.

Whatever, to each their own. You're buying 3 of each, make it how you want. :sly:

Exactly. My philosophy, too, Jason.

My younger brother came back from Target with a Hotwheel. He was playing with it, and simply said "I don't like this one!" and gave me this:

Uh, thanks brother...? xD

It's probably stolen. Smart kid.

No doubt. He had to get rid of the item with heat.

 I've noticed though that if you're talking real young kids (9 and under?) they prefer 'loud' stuff; fancy colours, moving parts, gizmos that shoot things, things that come off and won't go on again . . . stuff like that. It's got to do something, say something. Think Garbage trucks, tractors, dozers, Batmobiles......
But this reminds me of a 'collector story' (though nowhere as scandalous as Cano running off with a car he grabbed out of a poor, helpless, terribly traumatised toddler.)
I happened to be standing at the cash at the grocery, and just ahead of me was a lady with a kid in her cart - the kid was in the cart's seat facing me, while Mom was looking ahead at the line before us (there must have been about five people ahead of us.)
So I'm making faces at this kid. (I do that - when Mom's not looking.)
So now the kid is palling up with me (must have been about 3 maybe 4) and making faces back and giggling - and Mom's looking back at the kid wondering what's up, with a frown, and I'm all straight-faced and anxious, gazing into the distance obviously worried about my stocks tumbling.
Well, the line-up never seemed to move, so the kid and I got bored of making faces behind Mom's back and I slyly pulled out the HW Regal I had with me at the time (you guys know I always carry a car with me in my pocket) and started driving it around my groceries, drifting it around the chicken and jumping it over the ice-cream and so on.
The kid's eyes popped.
My heart sank.
I knew what was going to happen; this kid was going to take this car off me.
Now I had three Regals at the time (this was the silver-grey variation - I have the yellow and white, too) and when I say three - I mean three of each; one to custom, one for open stock and one carded. This was the one I was contemplating customising.
So now we're both staring at each other like two dogs that just dug up a bone.
I kept driving the Regal around but the kid was looking at me like Where TF did you get that? Then the kid pulls out a Cabbage Patch kid and lofts it up showing me another pair of accusing eyes.
Now I'm like WTF? myself . . . what would this kid be doing with a doll? I mean it was a strangely pretty-looking boy, but . . .
Meanwhile we had got to the point where the Mom had now piled all her stuff on the belt and we had moved right up to the cashier. So while the Mom was standing there waiting to be rung out she noticed me smiling at the child and gave me a smile, and I immediately said, "Do you mind if I give this to your kid?"
"Oh! Not at all," said the Mom, "She loves cars, anyway!"
"Huh?" I'm thinking: She? I had thought it was a tiny little boy!
"Oh! Yeah, her Dad's a mechanic. (The Mom's thinking that I'm surprised a girl like cars, probably) She hangs out with him when he's working on the car. She passes him tools and everything. She even knows the names of all the cars."
Meanwhile I'm handing over (Goodbye Custom Regal) the car to the little girl who took the car from me right away like it was her's all along. Case closed.
The Mom chatted a bit more (Canadians can be very friendly; you just have to find them ;) ) while I piled my stuff on, and she was bagging hers, but the little girl never took her eyes off me; I think she was pretty watchful in case I changed my mind and took it back.
But when the Mom said Bye and took off down the aisle, the tyke looked back at me and gave me a brilliant (victory? gratefulness?) smile and a little wave . . and that made it worth it I guess.
Another happy camper. Tha was maybe over a year ago, but guess what - I could never find a third silvergray Regal, yet.
Still . . . there's a little girl out there that might grow up to be a mechanic . . . maybe even make it to the NASCAR Pit Lane ;) .

You know that feeling when you're bidding on something (on eBay) and the whole time you have the suspicion that no matter how high you bid, someone is going to snipe it. You're thinking, "No way its, going to go for this little... I better bump the max again."

I'm going through that right now with a rather large lot of cars. I'm the only bidder (and I've already bid 4 times  Every 3-4 hours I find myself checking the listing thinking that it'll be the time the price doubles.

You're sick, my dear old buddy . . . come . . come . . we must check in to the Nessy Ford Clinic. I hear they serve good food, too.
We have to drain you of evilBay's Borglike tendency to suck even the best men in.

Edit: Kind of curious... Has anyone else found the Maisto Elite Transport GT-R? I've already found one, I'm just bringing it up for anyone who doesn't know about it. Or...no one's really bothered to find it. :P

I did see it once - had already exceeded by budget at that time. Went back a week later - it was gone, never saw it again. (Toys R Us)

Screw you all with supermarket premium series. Also, the 2013 Boulevard 66 Chevelle is awesome.

Yay!!! Everybody was cussed in general. That includes me.
*adopts puffy-chest stance

..............................
and also some better shots of the Welly's:)
quality isn't too bad, I pay $2.25 for Hot Wheels & Matchbox here in Australia and these are $1.................................

Dollar Wellys?!!! Damn, that's cheap - Aussie dollars, too.

I profiled the Land Cruisers in more stock deco a couple of days ago:

http://lamleydlm.blogspot.com/2013/02/model-of-day-ridiculous-ebay-prices-of.html?m=0

That was a good one, too. I have some Land Cruisers -including the one with the Anaconda livery.

I did offer you a Land Cruiser some time ago, but you wanted to try your luck. I'll keep a lookout for Scions, though. As I was telling Pink - kids love those aircraft-carrier, rocket launcher, moving-parts stuff.

I think she was pretty watchful in case I changed my mind and took it back.
Or making sure that you weren't a tourist from Mexico. Named Cano.

Thanks, I do remember you offering me the Land Cruiser. It's something I can just get it online cheaper than it'll cost you to ship from Canada. Same with the xB. It is very generous of you to offer. :)👍

I have one of those Lincoln TH's available if anyone wants it.

I'm writing this now to let you know there is a potential buyer.

Also, I've gone and exceeded 200 cars in my 2013-present collection now... and it's still not March yet! I'm screwed! Guess I have to stay all mainlines from now on.

I'm getting ready to list 50+ packaged cars on eBay and I was wondering how much it costs to ship a single car. I really don't want to raise the price of the cars and make the shipping free.

Edit: Oh yeah. These. Yesterday.

Finally bought the MBX Exotic set after much reluctance for the past week or so.
Strangely, my regular TRU had those three older MBXs out of nowhere. I think they just found them in the stock room or something. Also got the two 60th cars to round out the first release.

Out of town Walmart had the new mystery cars, so I got the three I wanted. Looney Tunes cars and Tomica Toyota Mark X were also from the TRU. Badass MIB Taurus and '39 Chevy were from TRU as well.

Retro cars are from Walmart and the Hot Ones and Flying Customs were from TRU too. Somehow that Hare Splitter was on the pegs.

Does Target price match? Because Kroger/Smith's/Fry's is selling 9-packs for $4.99. Maybe you could have gotten the 9-pack for just your gift card...

Or you can go back and get another.

Don't worry about working it out by weight just yet. The size of your box at this scale will predominately decide how much the shipping will be.

Find a box that can fit everything, throw everything inside minus the packaging wrap, bubble wrap and other crap filler you throw inside, and weigh it followed by getting box dimensions.

When you list on eBay, prices will be adjusted for every buyer surfing on eBay based on their own postal code since you'll be inputting the parcel dimension and weight in the listing.

...ferreted away under his banana plants.

If there were awards for the most interesting way in which ones describes diecast locations....you sir would take it home.

Note: For the first time in three years, I've dug up ALL of my own banana plants to winter rather than leave a select few.

Also, just received a package with a Renault 5 and Peugeot 205 Ralleye and whilst in transit, the Renault blister was crunched enough so that the car was OUTSIDE of it, laying in the envelope.

Shipping a single car is easy. Most should be anywhere from $4-5 to anywhere in the country. Tracking is included now. As long as the car/cars are under 13oz? I think, they'll ship for that price.
