There's a difference between a 'second quality' car and a variation. There are many cars pulled from blisters that if Mattel had the time to check, would be considered seconds and never packaged.

The tampos nowadays appear to be applied with such haste. I miss the 80s :(

You could pull 10 identical cars off the rack at Wally World and under enough scrutiny find 8-10 varients between them. I think missing tampos all together and differences in color/placement are purposeful and the rest I chalk up to end runs or shift changes at the factory :D

Those Green Light Black Bandits look awesome! 👍

It's been a long time since I bought some, but today I was in the toy store and couldn't resist getting this:

I'm going by what the guys over at HWC.com have figured out. Sure there can be multiples of the same error, but that's what makes them rare/special and somewhat valuable, purposefully done or not. :)

Speaking of errors and variations, I've picked up a couple more today from Kmart.

Found my fourth Shelby GT-500 PR5 wheel variation and another variation of the Coronet.

Have three different logo variations now. Gotta catch 'em all!!! :P

Cars that just came out. The card that the Charger was on was ruined so I set it free.

And my favorite of all.

Found it in a 10 pack.

Whoa, wait. I just took a closer look at your photo and it looks to me like you have unpainted rear side markers. If that is the case, could you possibly take another pic up close and post it?

I just checked, it is there. They just missed the stamp towards above of it.

Went to the Pevely Flea Market for the first time and did quite well. Profile shot of everything I bought below. I will post close-up picks when I'm feeling less lazy. The important thing is the cars were either 3/1.00 or 4/1.00. I did pay $1 each for the original 60s Lesney. I spent exactly $10 since I only brought that much. Poor thinking on my part.

IMG_0551.jpg

TEN BUCKS ALL THAT STUFF! Awesome. I really like the Lesneys and 80s Matchboxes, as well as the Majorette Volvos. Great grabs once again. Flea Markets rule.

EDIT: ooooo the Majorette Celica!! I had never seen that one. When you feel less lazy, please make pictures of that car.

@ M-Power-- I stated "I think missing tampos all together and differences in color/placement are purposeful..." which is right in line with HWC as well. Nothing I've seen here goes against that, but some cars roll off the line just slightly off in coloration or the tampos are slightly lighter. Those I think are just seconds. The pics that have been recently uploaded are all 👍 to me

Another visit to the St. Mary Antique Mall. Thankfully its 53 miles away otherwise I'd be there every weekend. Took picture of my favorite booth, plus the display I purchased. Its was only $12 and probably stored travel brochures at one point. But now its another way to display my stuff.

The booth pictured is one of three identical 5 tier glass booths filled from to back with loose and today they were 40% OFF!

(I'll update w/ purchase later tonight)

I find I'm stopping by the toys section every time I happen to visit or Wal-Mart or Zellers for Hot Wheels now. I'm also finding that they're getting sloppy with paintjobs... didn't notice it when I bought a Gallardo Superleggera, but when I saw the Enzo, it was awful.

Instead of grabbing that, I grabbed 5 Maisto Fresh Metals for $4... Granted they are the lower-end in quality, I was going to paint them all anyway so it wouldn't matter too much.

Ohhh alright, I misunderstood for a sec. I completely agree.

I bought Maisto's also when I couldn't find any new Hot Wheels or anything good.

I used to nab some at work when the stored was closed and the part-timers were cleaning... Too bad they had a terribly low variety compared to the Zellers I was at.

I'd have bought that Old-school Porsche 911 or Diablo, but Maisto has a tendency to put incorrect sized wheels and lower the ride height to the point where it looks like the suspensions broke.

wait, what are you doing here? diecast ain't moe, dude.

As for me, grabbed like 30 cars at the HW club get-together, I'll have some pics latter on.

What's wrong? You jealous that I can be both and you can't? :sly:
Anyway:

hotwheels8.jpg

In order from left-to-right, top-to-bottom... most of which are going to get a new livery:
-Lafayette P.D. C6 Corvette
-GT500 Super Snake
-Clio Sport (Maxi 5 Turbo Rally; though not the same car, it's not too difficult to pull off.)
-370Z
-Diablo
-Charger (NFS: Hot Pursuit 3's Seacrest County P.D.)
-Gallardo Superleggera (NFS: Hot Pursuit 3's Seacrest County P.D.)
-Miniature Cooper (Mini WRC)

Especially the Z34.

But screw you, you have the green Lambo. I'm missing that colour.
I also saw it in yellow, but the paint job was worse.. not like this one was good either.

Especially the Z34.
Get this, i wasn't a Hot Wheels; it was a Maisto Fresh Metal! It looks fantastic too, because the wheels aren't the generic ones they tack on most cars, the paint is metallic... it has no impurities! 👍

@ Cano -- Finally pictures of the Celica. The headlamps can be put up or down ar one unit which is pretty interesting. Its definately in played condition and really isnt even 'filler,' but I'd never seen the model so I scooped it up.

Pop-up headlamps! Neat! Is it still France-made? It may not be mint, but I had never seen that car. Good find.

And very cool, that Husky E-Type in the previous post. Those are HARD to find.

The only Majorettes I'll purchase are french made....so Yes! :)

I always thought Husky looked too much like cigar cars, but this Jag is nice

ok people, I'm gonna show you what I grabbed last weekend in the Hot Wheels Mexico Club get-together. It seemed to be a "Garage sale" as I came home full of Garage series cars! I wasn't even looking for them but man, how could I say no? I only bought two at full price, all the others were trades and one was a trade for a less-valuable car and I just had to chime in with the difference.

IMG_4079.jpg

The Lambo SV is a Speed Machine, one of three I have from that series, as I don't really like them, but this is a new casting and is very well done. It also has factory colors, so that was a big plus.
IMG_4068.jpg

These two will remain in their cards until I find some different wheels for them; I'm trying to reunite as many of these as I can to make customs out of them, but without ever touching the tampos and paint, as I think they are absolutely perfect. Just engine and wheel swaps and detailing, but they will all be black with flames.
IMG_4084.jpg

some blue cards a guy was selling really really cheap, which were opened as soon as I got home. Finally the green 'Cuda. Been chasing it for years. I did not know the black 58 Vette with BBSs, loved it; I had never seen that variation of Bywayman either.
IMG_4064.jpg

The Brasilia and Camaro were gifts, the others are Majorette and a Yatming Trans Am:
IMG_4081.jpg

IMG_4082.jpg

And now, the serious stuff:
IMG_4065.jpg

All these were plenty cheap, and they are in pretty good shape.
IMG_4060.jpg

This one is a pity, it's absolutely new but has a badcrack in the rear... still for the price, I could not pass it up.
IMG_4066.jpg

Finally, I had been chasing this casting in good shape like forever. Cheap, too.
IMG_4063.jpg

I grabbed this one because I thought it was a obscure variation I wasn't aware of. Turns out it's a fully customized car with custom sparkle paint. It used to be a Cal Custom (red interior). The rivet tells the tale:
IMG_4057.jpg

And now the REALLY SERIOUS stuff:
IMG_4071.jpg

These both are made in Mexico, the Second Wind isn't that difficult to find, but look at such the good shape! Less variations to go for this one.
IMG_4075.jpg

The Long Shot, on the other hand, is extremely rare and very very difficult to find in ANY shape, so I'm happy until I can spend like 300 bucks to get a minty one.
IMG_4073.jpg

I'll post some more in a while, I've been taking pictures lately (:

I'm a fan of the Firebirds. I especially like the gold one. That orange Challenger, that's a beauty. So, they are called Garage Series? They look really high detail.

IMG_4064.jpg

The Corvette and SL are so awesome. Wire spoke wheels/BBS LMs look good on just about everything. :) If only this years E92 M3 came with those...

The Cali Custom Caddy is pretty cool too. Custom x2!

Yesterday I picked up some more cars from Walmart. Nothing new on the pegs other than Cars of the Decades. All have metal bases except for the 40's Chevy Fleetline, which I opened. The hood on the Hot Bird and Mustang both open.
IMG_2131.jpg

Also got two international only cars from the 90's.

Hey guys I have a quick question.
Came accross a Matchbox die-cast that has Ford GT written on the packaging, however there is an Audi R8 inside the container.
Normally finding info on my hotwheels collection is no problem, however this one is giving me a bit of a rough time, seems to be a pretty isolated case, has anybody else had this at all??
