Oh my. I didn't think there were that many people who enjoyed that little plaque I made.

I'm working on a print with an "AOS" pattern which I'll use as the backdrop. It's more subtle than the wall in the back, but at least I won't need to compose my photos around that and centralize it on the car - this is what I really like about the current trend of photos I've got. Thanks for the responses, guy! Glad to hear you guys love it.

From Lamley and T-Hunted...

Can't wait for the EF and DB5!

Oh man. Impulse says to begin a collection on those Civics, yet I've only just stopped collecting the '06 Si and about to stop the '01 Si models.... Oh the conflicts. The casting doesn't look bad at all, but I said I would cut down too.

I suppose I'll keep like 2 strictly for customs.

edit: nice :) Guess I'm not minty anymore, Minty.

^^^ I might collect them too, but it's easier (and cheaper) to start collecting something that is new than to go back and get everything that has already been released for lots of monay. (the other Civics you listed come to mind)

Yeah while that's true, I've already started on the '01 Civics. I did tell myself not to go after anything for a stupidly high price to save myself.

At the same time, if you choose not to start at all, you won't get into the mess you get into later.

Geez, I make it sound like we're sharing stories of rehab.

I should get rid of my Retro Entertainment Time Machine. I bought it with the intention of selling it and I still haven't.

Ha, I told you. It's a salt factory over there any day after a Blown Delivery or Drag Bus sells out. I was lucky enough to get one as well, though the site was so slow when it loaded. It was definitely gone after 5 minutes or so. I'm looking forward to the Gulf Porsche the most though.
917K is a close second for me. Drag Bus is just cool. I know you told us about the tear-fest at HWC, but it was like multiple threads on the matter, which of course wouldn't happen here. You'll be lucky to get a separate thread on whining, period.

I have the standard Gulf 917K, which I think I did spend $10~$15 on, and it was worth every penny. I hope the new spectraflame version'll be just as nice. 👍
Latest Kyosho 1:64 release:
Nothing I want this time around, but keep the update comin'! :)👍
Just recieved a package from A6 today, pics to come on the weekend. Also I liked Andy's AOS sign in his pics. I say bring it back.
That was fast, but you guys weren't kidding about the postage to Australia.

On the AOS sign, I also enjoy how he switch around the style(sketched out, etc.).

Annnnddd.... I got 3 versions I have yet to decide on.

First: The Gloss Card

Fast+Fish+(mystery)_3.jpg

Lambo+Countach+(silver)_3.jpg

You see that reflection, right? YOU SEE IT?

Pro: Card doesn't absorb as much light making the contrast very high drawing in your attention like a glass plaque on display. Maintains the low-profile angle I'm using.

Con: Tricky to get sufficient light without flooding the front (which won't look pretty). you also can't identify that is the new backdrop.

Second: The Matte Card

Fast+Fish+(mystery)_2.jpg

Lambo+Countach+(silver)_2.jpg

Pro: Absorbs sufficient light, making it easy to light up the bottom half of vehicles and wheels. Maintains the low-profile angle I've been using.

Con: Pattern is distinguishable, but watermark still impossible to identify.

Third: Bird's Eye View (matte card)

Fast+Fish+(mystery).jpg

Lambo+Countach+(silver).jpg

Pro: Pattern and watermark text is clearly distinguishable.

Con: Isn't the low profile view. :grumpy:

Other than photos, that is a 1999 Mainline Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary. Nothing special. Then there's the 2009 Mystery Model Fast Fish. You don't come by these very often anymore. The casting just isn't popular. This package was probably the fastest delivery I got from the States. Shipped from Massachusetts on the 13 or 14th, arrives on the 19th.

I prefer the top one by far. Bottom one, print pattern's interesting, but it reminds me of a gift wrapper.

Nice Fast Fish. 👍

Dunno, I'm kind of liking the third one, they're all good though. And ditto on that Fast Fish, very nice. 👍

Great grabs A6, really liking the Nissan Z & Wolfman, nice:drool:

Awesome pics to AOS, I like the top one with the reflection, but they're all great:tup:

Nothing new around town for me but did get an eBay delivery today:

That's a wicked lot, Zak. I'd take that one sitting on the far right and do an off-road rally livery on it.

Also, thanks for the Fishy compliments, and the conflicting opinions on which you like more.

.......XsnipX

Haven't had much time to get any good grabs lately, but my master plan is to force all of you into poverty . . . and then offer you money for food, clothing, and shelter. In return for every car you all have.

We'll get started on "Will work for collectible hot wheels" sign.

See how you misunderstood me there, honorable buddy? :dopey:

This is what I meant - I had to draw it out for you?

Thanks Harry, but I got nothing on these guys... Andy's a given, but Cano's kind of underrated. As noted by you, he never posts those cool pics anymore! All I do is just try to provide enough light, and give them the angles that give the viewers an idea of what those cars look like in person. Lighting, focus, stuff like that are real sloppy in my pics, because I set them up fast, get done in seconds.

Are you getting what you saw? That is what matters. Are you expressing what you saw as closely as possible to your individual perception of those cars? Are you showing us what you want us to see? That is the question. I look at your pictures and I can identify with what you are seeing - at least some of it - a fascinated passion for the beauty of these little cars.

As for the photography - well, technology helps. Maybe you just want to run around the cars with a Hi-Def Video camera, and extract the stills you want. A little post-processing after that, and it will seem you are a genius of Art. If not actually a photon-catcher. ;) But, more on that in tha Diorama Thread, eh?

Digging around to look at some Majorettes buried in boxes, and I came across a FOOSE design 70's Monte Carlo. Scale 1:55. No wonder it isn't opened. I'm struggling enough with the various scales I have.

I'll attempt to put up a picture soon. It's quite a nice model.

I waited so long to buy these two.

I opened them just now. And let me tell me personally, the clear coat on that Cruisin' America is so ridiculously smooth. You can't help but widen your eyes when you can see the reflection of your own face on it, or when you slide your finger over the roof. This clear coat is on a next level. Nothing near "fresh-out-of-the-blister" mainlines, boulevards, Hot Ones or even Road Racers.

==========================================
Some seller just burned himself hard.

I bought a total of $16. He invoiced me $20. You do the math on shipping. I'm not going to say anything though, and I'll tell you why. I don't want to pay $10 for a Convention '66 Chevy Nova. I'll treat the shipping as a flat-rate $10. I got the first editions MR2 (Yeah, the one with no chrome lights, Jason :P) for $4 and some '93 Camaro with Hub RR for $2. This means I would've paid $4 for a Nova you can't find in stores.

Same seller. Go for it. Everyone wants to get their hands on the Greenwood.

God, they are nice. I'm gonna have to add those Road Racers Greenwood to my list. I have too much going currently though. Your new cars seem very interesting. Can't wait for some pics. 👍

A heads-up: Kakashi brought up Tomica's new Initial D, and looks like my last ditch "preorder" actually worked. They were coming out in September, and I found a preorder page here on 9/14. I didn't think it would actually work, but before leaving for work this morning, "order ready" notice was in my (e)mail box! I paid for it, email says it'll ship within next couple days.

This suggests these cars will start popping up in the market right about now. I think it's damn near guaranteed that these cars will be go up in value just about instantly. I hope mine don't get lost in the mail.

My cars today:

Three ZAMACs(one has Ben's name on it) + a cool Garage car I found on TTP. Sweet car. 👍

HWC - Red Line Club Car(*This is a free car you get for joining). I was going to sell it off initially, but it looks too cool in person. I think I'm gonna keep her. We'll see.

No misunderstanding there Harry. Even in poverty, I'll be working in exchange for not money or food, but moar cars. You won't get mine, so take off eh? Hoser. Awesome cartoon though. You are talented. :D:tup:

I bet. I don't believe I've ever seen one of those!

This one, with the reflective card. Here's why: You can see the entire car. In the case of the Fast Fish, we would have missed the cool hood tampo.

That version of thar car is very VERY cool and here's why: As most of you should have noted by now (and if you didn't you suck, specially you Andy since you collect it), the Fast Fish is a modernized reinterpretation of a 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda. And that livery in the mistery car is an awesome homage to the AAR 'Cuda that Dan Gurney drove in the 1970 Trans Am championship to... well, little success really, but the car was awesome and was also sponsored by Hot Wheels:

Not much at the meet, picked up the Smokey and the Bandit semi truck for a price I regret buying it at.
No Kenmari's Cano, sorry.

I haven't really come across the semi, even on the net. It's cool, but I get the feeling that they are all going to be expensive anyway.

P.S. That GTO wagon I picked up today, it has a dawg in the back!

Sweet bonuses.

That Wagon is baller, Shinji. I say this too much, but a lot of things you grab are baller.

Word word. But you suck and here's why. I have Dan Gurney's AAR Cuda AND Fast Fishes. Get jelly, can-o-fish.

And it's mystery.

My methodology: Put down white card, put down car, put up light, hold camera, snap, upload.

My methodoloy: put down custom-print backdrop, adjust tripod angle and height, set up focus, turn off room light, turn on flashlight, set the camera adjustments (I've got a fixed one I can continue using now), set off the 2-second timer, get the flashlight ready, and pan it from left to right in 2.5 seconds, open photoshop, open a template file, open photo into that psd file, resize, adjust color balance, adjust levels, sharpen a bit, save, upload to blog (index and monthly update posts).

Very nice! It would arrive here in Philippine shores around next month or two...

Thank goodness for the Tomica distributor.
