Lol, always knew you wouldn't make it. Look at me, I said I was gonna tonne down the car purchasing for this year to try to get some showcase stuff done, and it's only half of january and I'm 100 cars in the hole. One. Hundred.

I think I reached 200 in Februrary. It's always that impulsive need to grab more things from a seller to make the best out of shipping. Then there's the sudden need to get those HTF mainlines that I could've easily waited on for a future date. I cracked just weeks ago after holding that in for nearly a year.

Anyway, pics as promised:

%5BWV%5D+Chevy+Impala+1959.jpg
%5BWV%5D+Cool+One+(chrome+base).jpg

Rare 7SP Impala. Also pretty uncommon Chrome Base variation Cool One.

Ford+T-Bird+1963+(2005+Muscle+Mania:Purple).jpg

A fairly worthless mainline which almost no one ever sells. The red one is vastly available however. So it's not easy to find either.

Toyota+MR2+Rally+(1991+Mainline-HO+variation).jpg

Shouldn't have uncarded it, but the card was pretty warped. Having said that, this too is one of the harder-to-finds. Chrome HO variation 1991 release.

Had never seen the 7-spoke Impala. Awesome 👍

EDIT: Never seen the Thunderbird either :0 that one's cooooool! I'll have to chase one down :/ screw you dude, you're not helping.

Alright, so I might be going to a big toy sale this weekend. My first priority is finding model railroad products, then Hot Wheels. Obviously to stay on topic, I'll be looking only for cars for parts for customizing until I find some cars to put in my ~250 car collection. Among the cars for in the collection, I want some old cars or cars with Real Riders. Or really, as always, whatever catches my eyes. Pictures will be posted.

@AOS-, I saw your wheelswaps in the Customizing Thread before I logged in. Great stuff, as usual. 👍. And I don't mind waiting for the pictures. :)

As for you, @a6m5, I'll be looking to outdo you. Hard. :P

It did cross my mind, but really as I said, we all know how that auction's ending.

P.S. I just got a eBay email saying I did't win an item...... RLC BRE 510 I bid $35 on, it just closed for $81 + shipping. WTF is wrong with these people!
I sure hope they send them with a certificate.
Why don't you call them? ;)
We'll find out soon enough!

 I'll be rooting for you!

Newb. Try outdoing me, or Wyvern.
Trying to outdo you seems like a deathwish.
He hasn't been around long enough to see you two actually post cars!
👍

EDIT: After opening a new tab and doing some research, the Honda Civic EFs (you may remember my EF hoarding episode from a bit ago) that were supposedly hard to find due to popularity, are not such anymore. So with that, I'll be uncarding some. From there, who knows what.

EDIT #2: Um, I'm just going to put this here:
That's for this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-Hot-Wh...76265?pt=Diecast_Vehicles&hash=item2c7ad58b89

Someone I know once found a car with one of those plastic reinforcement hooks inside the blister. The Mattel slave labourers shhould screw up more things. There's so much money to be had and they'd guarantee cards to be purchased at retailers. Suppose some dude with his head loose put a single loose axle in each card in a single case, you bet that entire case would be bought the very moment a collector finds it. Fastest money any retailer can expect from selling hot wheels.

I can't believe people are proposing offerings on a $900 basic.

I've a Corvette C6 Grand Sport with the reinforcer in the blister, and with part of the blister folded under itself. Error cars, at least for me, have come more frequently these past two years.
$900 my ass. Again, for better indicator of the true worth, try the sold listings.
My reaction to the price was pretty much the same. I was curious as to what I'd find without limiting to sold listings. Then you also have people not just with the EFs, but with other cars that customize them, then sell them as Treasure Hunts. Or errors, sometimes. A keen collector will spot the error in the eBay listing, error being false listing.

Those "CUSTOM" fake Treasure Hunt listings are so annoying!

Easily wouldn't fly, but I'm sure most people who fall prey to it would've learned after one mistake.
Agreed. Although, you have to assume that there would be far less false listings, which makes buyers happy after not having to waste time scrolling past bogus listings.

Like filtering internet media, it is WAY too much work to have a team filter through eBay listings to see what is legit and isn't. People can sell literally anything they want. These people don't have the time to validate if someone's home-made wood carving is really worth $2000. It would also cause a huge ruckus because it's not them who's doing the selling anyway.

To put it simply, there's just too many subjective factors with internet auctions that you can't objectify items as valid or scam that easily. Even if there's a report button, who's to say people who have malintentions aren't going to make up some bollocks story to screw up someone's business? And who's to say the representative that reads that report knows a thing about the item in question? And what if that item was legit all along and the seller couldn't back themselves up because they don't know a thing about the pocket watch they found sitting in their crawlspace for over 9 years? Way too much stuff can go down and trouble can easily be stirred up from both the buyer's end and the rep.

The most efficient solution so far to deal with these scumbag sellers is to get them into trouble via Buyer Protection Program. This service by eBay is (likely imo) implemented to give buyers more confidence in using eBay. "If anything goes wrong", you get your money back. That's essentially saying "if that seller completely scammed and ripped you off. We have the authority to take that money back from their paypal account and we'll deal with that seller". There's that and feedback ratings. That stuff cannot be changed and once you get bad rep as a seller, your business plummets dramatically. There is nothing you can do to physically ensure the buyer won't give you a negative feedback, so having this system is there to make sure sellers don't get any fishy ideas.

I submit an offer on that for $2. He denied it.

Went to one Reject shop today looking for the Boulevards and they had none. I did pickup a layby I had at Myer but that will have to be posted in the Lego thread tomorrow.

Okay so I'm back after my toy sale expedition. I can't find my USB cable for my camera right now, so I'll describe what I got in place of posting pictures. I got my hand stamped to be able to go back to the sale tomorrow for free price of admission. All I got were Hot Wheels and couplers for a model train car, then found out that the couplers were not the correct kind.

Anyway, on with the cars! All are Hot Wheels, and all are carded unless specified otherwise.
  • 1998 Race Team Series IV Mercedes C-Class
  • 2001 First Editions Panoz LMP-1 Roadster S
  • 2000 Hot Wheels '56 Ford Truck
  • 1999 First Editions Mercedes CLK-LM
  • 2000 First Editions Ferrari 333 SP
  • 2000 First Edition SS Commodore (VT). (I bet @Spacegoat's jealous. :))
  • 1995 (?) Race Team Series Hot Wheels 500
  • 2000 First Editions Surf Crate (Surfboard! :D; I got two, but one was bought specifically for its surfboard for customizing purposes. Both are the same.)
  • 2001 Hot Wheels 25th Anniversary Lamborghini Countach
  • 1995 (?) Dark Rider Series Splittin' Image II (The wheels drew me to it.)
  • 1999 First Editions Porsche 911 GT1-98
  • loose Maserati MC12 (for customizing)
I thought about that just after logging out.

Nice grabs. 👍 Actually don't have any HW Commodore's in my collection yet. Have to get around to doing something about that, one of these days.

Went to another Reject shop today and still no Boulevards. I do have a few Hotwheels commodores in my collection I just have no idea where they are or where the pics are.

Went to a crap ton of stores today. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Especially at the single Toys R Us I went to. Walked back to the cars and couldn't find any single packs anywhere. Dazed and confused I asked a lady up front where the single Hot Wheels cars were, and they were like "we sold out".

So since my post, I've found the USB cable and am working on uploading the pics to Tinypic now.

Thank you. Soon enough, you'll have one. 👍

I have yet to find one 2013 Boulevard car on the primary market, when I found half the 2012 Boulevards at this time last year. :odd:

Hey, don't worry. I've had some terrible luck too. Went to a Walmart once and they had no single pack basics. Went back the following weekend, this time seven cars, but six were duplicates. And that Walmart has been known to find some Redlines and cars from as far back as 1999 as if they were 2014s.

God, I'm sorry for those of you who came home empty handed. I do look forward to pics from Johnny though.

Meanwhile, couple of cars I forgot to post:

Tomica/TOMY Pocket Cars 1956 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing - Zee Toys Windracers 1956(?) Corvette

Duo shot with much newer Tomica Mercedes Benz SLS AMG

Pretty cool!

I was waiting for a reply to the thread so as to avoid a long single post, so finally.
I do look forward to pics from Johnny though.
Nice duo shots! It's hard to tell what year that vette is from the angle. And no, you will not have to wait any longer. :)

I would've bought a loose '55 Bel Air Gasser, but the seller was asking $6 non-negotiable, and the carded car is only worth $2. Its people like that that really need to use stuff like Beckett price guides or average online selling prices to find a value, not their minds.

In a similar situation, someone else had 1:24 diecasts at $10 at the last sale, and all of a sudden they were all $25. He also increased prices on the loose cars. Not a good day for HWs, but that wasn't my first priority for once. If I go back tomorrow, I won't be after Hot Wheels, but a Dodge Coronet model kit.

EDIT: If there's any car(s) you guys want to see at a closer angle, let me know.

Well not exactly empty handed, picked up a Matchbox Infiniti G37. Just tried to snap a photo but the batteries died in the camera, so it's down until I can get some more. Next friday I'm going to buy a power cable for it so when I am at home I don't have to use battery power.

If that's the only car I saw at the store, I'd have come home empty handed. Well, and maybe a snack. Sorry.

I'm still in the Mattel-mode, especially the Chevys. As you guys know, I posted the RLC '55 Chevy Panel just the other day, and I have that $85 Silverado on the way(also RLC). I also have two Vintage Racing Camaros('67 & '69) coming, which had eluded me for loooong time(due to high price). Two cars on my radar now are also two RLC Camaros.

God, I'm hopeless. One exception. I have changed my mind.... again, on the RLC Datsun Bluebird/510. I am going to look for one, see if I can get one for $45 shipped. I didn't want to pay that much at first, but I saw some sell, and I've underestimated their worth. 510 in general are one popular casting! 👍

I've the Vintage Racing series 510, and some old NASCAR racecars from the same line. And it now makes me mad seeing "Chevy" and "Silverado" in the same post, because I want one. 2013 (maybe '14?).
