Oh yeah, anyone saying the AI is better. It's hard to really tell when the game is clearly set on the easiest mode. You just breeze past them. If we had to actually battle with them to get positions, then we'd be able to tell, but just to say its good because they don't hit you...

I've only noticed tearing with some of the replays such as at the Daytona Speedway. But this is at 720p. When I get my new 1080p tv in a few months I'll see if it shows up on that..

The game does need a few things changed/added and given that this is a demo of a pre-game game(?) I hope some things change. For example the windscreen in the in-car view is too clear, as if there's no windscreen at all. And a decrease in the HDR would be nice as driving in the in-car view creates a white sky.
It would seem vampires are employed by your team as they have no reflections on the car! Not important just a bit odd.
Tyre noise needs to be improved though. The same screeeech can only go so far. Skid marks would be nice too.
I must admit that I feel 16 cars is too many. Get rid of 6 of them and that would free up memory, CPU etc to improve the game in general. But maybe 16 cars is fine.
Thing is I wonder if we'll see these kind of improvements like better engine/exhaust sound (better in the demo but still room for improvement). Time will tell but it won't surprise me if things hardly change. I hope I'm wrong.
Good demo thopugh. Eager to try the locked cars now.

Don't use Racing tyres.

Thats it I'm going to make a video, video'd directly off the game so then quality will not be lost! I'm on it now.

EDIT: Also can anyone answer my question about GT TV?

I think I read somewhere that GT TV will be filled with first broadcasts over time, maybe during the Tokyo motorshow? I can't find that info anymore though.

A hq video would be great by the way ... 👍

EDIT: I just finished downloading GT's vid. Nice work, good combination of views, car sounds, AI and so on. 👍

I'm having a little trouble with the car selection (probably my extremely limited japanese...). I go into the showroom bit, and select a different car, think I'm selecting all the right options so I can try that car out, and yet it stays as the GT-R. Any help?
It depends which car your selecting, the Lexus and Toyota are locked until after they've been unveiled at the tokyo motor show.

like others i tried the "sit in the middle of track and see if the AI hits you" test

on straight - First 6 cars made no attempt to move and hit me. i got back on track at a slight ANGLE this time. with that adjustment the last 9 cars SWERVED out of my way and avoided me at the LAST second

in turns - Thet hit me no matter what in the turns

I say with a few more tweaks GT5's AI can handle damage
That's a stupid test, because no real driver would ever stop his car in the middle of the track.

I noticed a dramatic improvement in AI myself. I'm running pretty much everything at the defaults because I can't read kanji to change things (haven't even set up the controller yet). I only ran a couple races last night, but I could count at least three or four occasions where, if I were in GT4, I would have been hit.. but I didn't. For example, I passed a car on the inside of a corner. In GT4, I would have been run off the road, but the AI stayed to the outside through the entire corner. There were three or four other times where they did the same thing.

In fact, the only two impacts I can recall from last night were both my fault and not the AI. As I've said many times, even the smartest AI in the world can't stop you from hitting them.

Is it only me, or did anyone notice the different car sound on each of the vehicles, when I drove by the f430, it really sounded like a ferrari. I was speechless.

can you tell me how you drove teh F430 !!!??? as I sure can't and most of the people on here lol

He never said he drove one, he said he drove past one...

If you want to hear the sound of the different cars just replay your race and press select to change to a view on any car you want to hear the engine on.

Yeah, during replay shuffle though the cars and views and in most cases you should get a pleasant suprise.

Some cars are fairly quiet and dull, but remember these are standard road cars where dull is how they sound in real life. (Viper GTS sound is still disapointing though IMO)

Read it again.. he drove BY the F430.. as in he passed the F430 or was passed by the F430.

If you want to hear what the other cars sound like, just select them during the replays.

Thats exactly what I meant, thank you:tup:

As has already been said, don't use the racing tyre's. It's pretty hard on N2's, you have to concentrate and make every overtaking manouver count.

Seeing as how that is THE single biggest gripe that most people have about the AI in GT, I'd say the fact that they don't hit you is a massive improvement, regardless of everything else.

Maybe it is, but I've just noticed something during the race. I finished sixth, so I've decided to watch the front two battle it out. Its a GTR and an F430. And the F430, in second is glued to the back of the GTR, it wont overtake, its following the exact same line, and down the back straight, it was bumping into the back of it every five seconds, it won't pull out and try to pass it.

If that's better AI, then just how bad has it been for the past 4 games?

And the F430 sounds horribly synthetic, nothing like the real car.

Still, a few positives, I like using the new mode, feels much better than normal, and changing the tyres has obviously made it more challenging.

Ugh, it looks like all of you are lucky from your videos. My game is extremely ugly with smears all over the cars, white **** that lines every line of the car. Really annoying, such a huge disappointment. Don't get me wrong, the game itself is incredible, they just need to fix this, now.

Hello everyone, after trying out the demo I must say that things are looking good for the future. There are obviously things that need urgent attention, such as jagginess and frame dropps but overall the game looks great.

One thing I really miss is the living and precise controll of GTHD. The conroll in this new demo feels really slow and dull, both steering and gas/brake are very insensitive compared to GTHD. I sure hope that this will change. Im using Sixaxis in both games so that should not make any difference.

I and quite a few others agree. I've also had the pleasure of driving an F430 at Sonoma Raceway (Infineon), and while there are too many variables to even begin to suggest one can be 100% objective in assessing the "realism" of a car sound, from my personal experience, it sounds just like what I remember. 👍

In surround sound, the car sounds are particularly impressive! 👍

Thanks for the videos G.T

One quick question: which is the most realistic one, simulation mode or professional mode?

I haven't downloaded the demo, yet.

Guess my last post disappeared.

I was just wondering if someone else noticed the huge difference between the control in the GT5P-demo and that in GTHD. To me the latter is really much more alive and precise.

Hi,
I am not a big expert playing GT however this demo is too easy. It's not dificult to win with all the cars... even in the simulator mode... it's not so enthusiastic...:indiff:

I don't know if the game will be easy like this demo, I hope not, just too bring more fight and enthusiasm when we are playing... other way it will be boring :indiff:

isn't simulation mode the same as professional mode? The two selectable modes are Arcade and Simulation I think...

Maybe it is, but I've just noticed something during the race. I finished sixth, so I've decided to watch the front two battle it out. Its a GTR and an F430. Must have been watching a different race than me, then. I watched a replay in exactly the same fashion, except the F430 overtook the GTR on the back straight, he passed on the left.

You have to remember that those two cars appear to be pretty evenly matched, and cutting inside on a corner and punching it probably won't be enough to get by. The AI isn't going to do "crazy" things like a human driver would in an attempt to pass. Realistically, the only way to outright pass the other car is to get a better exit and a few extra mph coming out of a corner, and then passing on the straight. Or, drive like an unpredictable human driver. My most effective passing strategy is to brake late into a corner and cut inside while they're slowing down. AI will never do that sort of thing, in ANY game. That level of AI is simply impossible at this point, without networking several entire PS3s together to try to create a truly "thinking" driver. The PS3 now is handling AI for fifteen cars simultaneously. You simply cannot expect it to drive like a human. If that's what you're after in a racing game, then you're going to be sadly disappointed for the next few decades.

There have been times where the AI seems to go back to it's roots and forget that I'm there, but most of the time it seems to avoid impacts as much as possible. I was very impressed at one point just a little bit ago, when I took a left turn too wide and went off the track. There were two cars coming up right behind me. I came back onto the right side of the track, just behind the first car, which kept it's line on the outside. The second car veered to the left when it realized I was coming back onto the track from the right, and both of them zipped by me without a scratch. That sort of thing NEVER happened in GT4.. that second car would have slammed into me at full speed. I went back and watched the replay from the second car's POV, and watched it abandon it's line behind the first car and hug the left side of the track to avoid hitting me. That's an improvement, period. Anyone who says the AI doesn't avoid collisions now is either blind or stupid. In fact, I would go so far as to say the people complaining the loudest about how the AI hasn't improved probably need to look at their own driving first. I would wager most of the impacts being complained about are caused by the player.

Once again, don't use Racing tyres.

My most effective passing strategy is to brake late into a corner and cut inside while they're slowing down. AI will never do that sort of thing, in ANY game.

Actually I saw the AI do something similar,

Lap 2 the chicane before the final stretch to the finish, a masked GTR that had been following a non-masked GTR concept the whole race, finally on that last chicane flew into the corner on the inside of the other GTR but didn't stop in time, overshot causing a accident with a F430. Was cool to watch in the replay.
