Assuming that prices are the same for the different releases of the game, I think it's time we had a different kind of challenge.

Buy a car, fix it up. Spend no more than 150,000 credits.

The best time on Complex String wins. I used the one in Run & Setting.

Current Leader: frentzey
Car: Chevrolet Corvette Z06
Time: 4:14:172

Second: Ser0119
Car: Chevrolet Camero Z28
Time: 4:26:160

See what you can come up with. Try to keep track of everything you do to the car so you can share and we can all test your creations.

Have fun!

Sounds like a good challenge and am in. :D
Can we use a car that is already in our garage and cost the same amount as the 150k cost?
I have a large garage with a few cars and dont want to spend money on a new car.
Its a good challenge and I probably wont win, but am doing it for the fun of it. :)
Ill list all cars I try with hp and cost.
I should also have by the end of the weekend too.
One more thing, what time allocation do we have to complete the challenge??

hmm..wow, I must of picked the right car or soemthing because i killed our times. I got a 4:40.215! Not in the grass once, My car was the RX-7 RZ.

39,980 - RX-7 RZ
00,250 - Oil Change
04,700 - Sport brakes
04,800 - Muffler & Intake
03,000 - Intercool (Racing)
10,400 - Transmission
42,500 - STage 3 Turbo0
01,500 - Chip
01,050 - Flywheel
10,600 - Brake Balance
04,700 - Triple Plate Clutch
17,000 - Full Suspension
____________
Under 150G by atleast $8000

Yeah, I hadn't done the RZ yet. I assume it'll be one of the top places. And the Skyline ought to do good as well.

Oh, keep in mind, I'm not that great of a GT3 driver, so my times are just something to get you guys going (:

First car was the Celica GT4. I spent about 139,000 and ran 4:47:709. I should have spent money on some soft tires instead of those mediums I had on it.

Second car was a Z28. I spent 134,000 on it and it ran 4:26:160.

OK, I'm in. I've never run the whole Complex String so my times will suck.

Plus I have to figure out how much I have already spent on my Evo VI RS. How do you tell what items cost if you've already purchased them? I've noticed that specific items sometimes are priced differently for different cars.

u can't. Just load up your game, spend a new 150G then get ur times. And if u want to save ur dough reset your game w/o saving it.

:odd: I really want to do this... But my parents are divorced and im with my dad. I forgot my ps2 . Soooo, how long are you guys going to be running this? I'll be home next week. I once got an ITR 98Spec with a decent time on Complex Sting. Cheap too, but I forgot the LSD so that made life hell. Why doesnt someone try a Lance Evo. with an ASM system ;) . Okay Im shuting up now.

The ITR isn't the best. Even fully modded it lacks lots of hp, and it understeers alot, which u don't need in the complex string.

I wasnt saying it was the best, I was just stating that i ran a decent lap in a FF car. Well yes it understeers, if you up the HP alot. I think any FF car with close to 500 horses will understeer if you are giving it gass though a corner. I dont think its week. The Acura ITR is rather underpowerd though. You can only put a stage 2 turbo in it, but with the Honda you can go stage 3. I do not understand this.

Has anyone tried an MRS? I'm going to go take that for a spin. I still think the Miata is the best bet - but I'm not the best driver for the job.

It drove like a friggen BOAT.

I'm still down by 9 seconds, but I'm not done yet! I'm looking at the Skyline GTR V-Spec II, Supra RZ, Acura NSX, and RX-7 RZ. They all start out with a pretty good punch, and have about 80,000+ credits left to burn. I think I'm going to be a master of the complex string before this mess is over.

Purchasing details for all cars upon request.

Too bad it can't be purchased, and probably if it could, it wouldn't be under 150,000 (:

~LoudMusic
Uh actually it can be purchased. For about 60,000 cr. or so.

Oh that's right, the S is the smaller one. It starts with only 190hp ... good luck Zero! You might be better off with a Lotus Elise Sport. That's actually one of the cars I need to run.

Still havent done it yet.
Ill be practicing as soon as I get off this computer tonight. :D
Ill know by tomorrow what cars Ill be running.
Good luck all.

Well nevermind what I said bout the ZZ-S killing everyone, I thought it could take on a Stage 3 Turbo but I was wrong

280hp Tommy Kaira ZZ-S
$149,750

I had one off during my run, it was on the hills at the 200m marker, the car got out of control and I could not keep it on the track, I hope that is ok LoudMusic, if not I will re-run it.

Nice Viper Time. I wouldn't suggest the Supra because that car accels in Momentom and top speed. Not handling. I'm sure the rx-7 would destroy the supra on this track.

I dunno about the NSX either. its a 100G car leavng 50G to put in it. Top hp is just under 600hp, and u wont get that because the tune-up cost 70G , the most you'll get out of this car is maybe 400hp and not much to soend on handling.

The skyline sounds good though. Maybe a 300zx would be good. Oh and what about the vette z06? 50G car with 436hp sounds like a good plan.

4:35.149  what now b*tch! z06 baby. If u wana know what i bought ask, but i'm to lazy to write it out agian.

That's about what I got out of that car. It's like a freaking go-cart! Fun though (:

And you kept it out of the walls? I'm impressed! (:

I updated the first post to include a leader board. I'm going to see what I can come up with now. The Lotus's seem like a good plan this time around (:
