20 million credits for free!

All the paranoid people about suing the players, can I get what you are smoking? Why would they waste their time and money. If you buy the game theyve already made money off you.

If there basing their revenue off microtansactions then that is their problem.

If they fix/patch it-then they do and if I lose all my stuff-then so be it. Isnt that the risk we take by doing this?

I guess ... couldnt they see what people have spent and say for everyone who spent say 400mill (20 Mercs) account gets reset? I mean its been five days no way could anyone spend that legit.

Who knows I am having fun before this and will after regardless...
How could they know how much we have and how many cars? It's saved to the ps3 not sonys cloud. They don't have that spying ability

Yeah I figured, I was just figuring how they could track this. It would take a considerable amount of time ($$) to do that.

Maybe they just cure the problem and move on, thats what I hope!

I was just speculating what they can really do about it...

All of you paranoid guys are a hoot. There's only a couple of ways they can fix this headache and people have already mentioned them. 1) make all the new 1.01 cars worth 20 Million credits. That won't happen. 2) Make the savegame data locked to specific patch versions.

Save data is stored user side, so no they won't magically alter it, log all of your actions, or whatever other nonsense you are all dreaming up.

Everyone take a breath and relax.

And, people, let's keep in mind that this is a videogame. The ways in which others play it, are none of your business.

Well, I just did the glitch again to see if this is true. Fortunately, the glitch still works. And by the way, the VGT Benz isn't the only car you can sell for 20 Million credits on Ver.1.00, the Acura NSX Concept and several others could be sold for 20 million credits.

Well, not only the glitch still works but it also works with the Bimmer. So instead of paying a mil for each Merc, youc an just buy a gazillion M4s and get 20 mil for each when you "unpatch".

Are ya saying this glitch is un-fixable?

I'd say it's unfix-able, unless they can find a way to delete your game data along with the patches. The value for unknown cars in GT v1.0 is 333 million whatever credits and they can't change that in your disc version.

Are ya saying this glitch is un-fixable?

Not at all. My educated guess would be that they'll patch the downloadable version first rendering the glitch impossible for non disc owners.

Next they'll follow up by locking the save files to specific patch versions making it impossible to load them under v 1.00.

Long story short, glitch while the glitching's good. After that it'll be old school save game editing just like back in GT5 (Bruteforce editor, etc).

Lastly you can guarantee GT7 will use cloud based saves. :P

I say stock up on cars that you can sell afterwards. I have 250 Ferrari 330 P4's which sell for 6million each. That's 250 x 6mil if I ever run out of credits in the future. I also bought every car before doing this.

If you're referring to me in this, you'll notice in my post I just said I was playing devils advocate. Sometimes it's interesting and useful to think from the alternative viewpoint, especially if no one else is.

It makes no difference to me what other people do, and as for myself, I've not said whether I did or didn't, whether I will or won't, as it doesn't really matter to anyone else.

A fix for this would be a new large update, thereby relegating you to delete a rather huge amount of data which would be a pain for most to have to DL over and over again. Limited broadband users beware, until then get your expensive cars and get online to tune race and wait for the community features to surface as I want to start up a club but we need stencils to paint our cars in not identical designs. Come on PD you guys have a lot of this stuff inhouse how about spreading a little of that over here eh?

The patch since the two in game updates is now at 1700+mb not the 1207mb it was when it was simply update 1.01. Count on it getting bigger, now with replays and other things all apart of the game data it's going to get incredibly large.

They could prevent selling 20 million cars in a future patch but that's about it. Its not that big of a deal honestly, most GT user didnt even knew how to back up their save files back in GT5 so i'm pretty sure that won't impact PD too much.

-Make sure to back up your Save File on an external device (USB stick) .
-You'll need to refresh thumbnails just like GT5 dupe trick when back at current version.
-Some error might occur during the download operation of 1.01. What I did is, I erased the partial Game Data Utility 1.01 files, turned my PS3 off /on and downloaded the patched again.
-Not sure about the Anni cars but you should be able to secure them back from the store, keep the voucher code idk.
-Always remember that Stockyard = Black hole, garage limit is 500.

That's about it for the con part, jeez this thing is easy, maybe too easy lol, at least in GT5 people had to do donuts or use a rubber band.

So im sorry to ask again, if this has already been asked. But has anyone got into any problem (major bug - like loss of career progress) while applying this glitch?

Has anyone downloaded version 1.1 after the servers came back online today? I am trying to figure out if you can still purchase or sell Vision GTs?

Why on earth would anyone need that much (GT) money?

Talk about over done!

Who knows what DLC/Patched cars they will bring in the future? Some may cost 20mil etc. I can now relax and play online as I have every car fully tuned.

Yes I have and it worked fine.I didn't buy Mercs though just a few more M4's

A few simple fixes by PD and this can all be gone.
  1. Lock every car over a certain amount so it can not be sold in game.
  2. Code all new cars after V1 so it is not recognized in V1 thus can not be sold
DLC can be coded as locked before it is released and all the GTV cars that are gifts can also be locked pre-release moving forward.
As far as catching accounts that have glitched it can be done. I dont know how but FM did it with FM4 based on just scanning game data while you were online. Some how it is all coded. Like I said I do not how it is done but being a long time FM person I have seen this all before. I'm not saying it will happen put there are things that can/could be done to fix this and punish those involved.

The only way that 1. will work is if the gamesave contains the info on whether or not the car can be sold. I would bet that is in the game data.

2. is exactly the reason that this glitch works in the first place. V1.0 doesn't recognize the car and assigns it an insanely high resale value. That was an odd default behaviour which does make you wonder if this glitch was somewhat on purpose. Depending on how they coded the game save, they may still be able to fix the problem this way.

By far the easiest way is to change the gamesave such that V1.0 doesn't recognize it at all. Depending on how they coded it, this could be trivial.

How long is it taking for you guys to re-install 1.01? I did the glitch & Im at 49% with 109 minutes left, which originally started at 237 minutes! I tried two other times and got to 75% & got a psn error code. The first time I downloaded the patch when it came out ot took around 30 min. But this is ridiculous man.

I was only going to do this one tim e for an easy 20 mill credits, Be done & play the game normally. Any way to make this go faster?

On average 38 mins.

You didn't get screwed for glitching, the game is just unstable. I had a corrupted save before I even knew about the glitch but I backup my save before and after I run the game as a matter of course. People have also lost all the cars out of their garage and haven't even done the glitch once. You can't trust it and have to make multiple backups of your save at every opportunity, even when part way through a glitching session (couldn't think of a better term). I did it once no problem, second go my save was corrupted afterwards so I rolled back to the second backup I'd made after doing the glitch the first time (make sense?). I went through the process again and it worked just fine.

jesus... it's like GT2 all over again.

Solution to 1. Just keep going back to sell the cars.
Solution to 2. The game already doesn't recognize the cars in V1, which is why they sell for so high. The game sees garbage data with a car tag.

The proper solution is to make save data from this point forward be written in a fashion that V1.00 cannot recognize. That is the proper fix.

but no one is doing anything wrong... It's like Redbull this season... they found an exploit in the rules and used it to their advantage... they played the game the best and won. We're doing the same.

Come on now. Are you saying that we all had corrupted hard drives that needed reformatting, so we had to reload our various game saves? And by the way, coincidentally the internet was down, so we couldn't access the latest updates? This fortuitous chain of events lead to each one of us individual discovering this feature? I think you are on to something. Keep running with that train of thought!!!

The actual cause for the glitch is unfixable, however they can indirectly make it not possible to do. Version locking is really the only way to do it.

Simply, the problem is the car(s) doesn't exist in v1.00. So if you have them in your save file, they create a reference to a null object within the garage. Trying to select an error car in your garage results in a null reference error, which crashes the system (the game is literally trying to select nothing). Selling an error car is the only thing you can do since you aren't actually doing anything with the object itself.

Making the car unsellable through a patch won't effect v1.00.

Takes me about 3-10 minutes depending on how many people in my house are on the internet.

Hmmm I might just try this seeing as nothing gets corrupted, I was against using exploits but the GT6 career payouts are daft so that seems like the only choice to get the cars I want to drive.

The solution is being over-analyzed. The simplest fix would be to code all additional vehicles/materials outside of v1.00 to sell for another vehicle that is recognizable in v1.00. Say, a Honda Civic or a Ford Focus? Nonetheless, another vehicle similar to the true in-game resale value system (approximately 30%?) would be the simplest implementation. So, say you wanted to sell your 1M credit Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision GT, the 30% resale value "should" be 300,000 credits. Polyphony Digital could simply code the value system of the VGT to that of any other 1M vehicle value that is recognized in v1.00. And this could be implemented for all future vehicle additions beyond v1.0. DONE! Enjoy it while it lasts.
