That's not the way you want your car to hit the wall. The energy isn't as dissipated if he hit dead on with the front of his nose. That had to hurt bad. This is a bad one. :nervous:

Holy hell, what an accident that was. One of the biggest I've ever seen by a long way. I really hope Kubica is alright.

From what I saw on the replay, it looks like he clipped the back of the Toyota in front, which damaged the front wing, then went off, clipped Speed's parked STR, which launched him, hit the wall side on in mid air, then skidded back across, rolled once, then went on his side along the wall.

God, please let Kubica be OK :(

My god, that was bad. Notice how they aren't zooming up on the crash scene, or even showing it anymore? This is bad. I hope Kubica is alright.

Wow, that was a big impact for Kubica. He got launched into that wall and then skidded all the way across the track. That looked painful. :( He was moving his fingers about as he stopped though, so I think he's OK.

I'm glad it wasn't just me shouting at the telly there.

:banghead: 👍

Also, did anyone see a Civic Hybrid leading the pack around for a couple of laps when the SC stopped at the hairpin, or did I just imagine it?

The tub looks relatively intact, but there was still a hell of a lot of forces going on in that.

The main tub looks to be completely intact, as it was designed to do; but geez, that is a whole lot of forces to deal with. Hopefully, the FIA has gotten it right with the amount of safety put into the chassis tub. What a large crash! Just a bad, bad thing. Here is to still hoping to Kubica's safety.

It's a good thing the medical centre is right near the Hairpin. That means he'll get treatment quick.

Just watched the replay from Liuzzi's car! It's just a wall of CF and dust!

Is it just me, or was Kubica's head really bouncing side to side in spite of the HANS device? That can't be good...

I swore I heard a helicopter starting up in the background on the Fox telecast, so he should be in good hands right now.

Here's to hoping it wasn't nearly as serious as it looked.

Fisichella is the "meat in a Ferrari sandwich" despite Sato being in between the Ferrari's as well...

Get it together, James Allen!

Edit: And I hope Toro Rosso score :-)

Well Peter Windsor just reported that Robert Kubica is in stable condition and that Kubica gave Windsor a thumbs up. 👍 That is wonderful news.

Raikkonen, and even Alonso have been shadows of their best today...bet Raikkonen's real glad he moved now.

Kubica is stable, but that's all they know right now

Love the syncronised spinning of Rosberg and Trulli lol

Well, that's a relief. 👍

Alonso must be sick, or something. He's way off his game. Making mistakes left and right. He didn't look or sound well in the qualifying interview.

Weird race. Blame Canada.

As far as I know, the HANS device is designed to prevent the head 'snapping' forwards in event of a crash, while at the same time not restricting neck movement. It will have retarded his head movement during the near head on impact with the wall on the right, but it wouldn't have had much effect throught the rest of the crash when his head was moving sideways.

That's my understanding at least, I may well be wrong. :dunce:

As pointed out earlier, why was a Civic playing the duties of the SC a few moments ago?

I think I saw the SC stop at the crash for a couple of laps, so the Civic was a stand-in SC.

according to live timing , teh manger of Kubica has talked to him , and he can move his arms and legs normally ............... GET WELL KUBICA :)

"Lap 43: Kubica's manager says he has spoken to the BMW Sauber and he appears to be fine - a huge relief after such a massive accident. The Pole has been taken to Montreal general hospital for further check-ups."

Thank God for that.
