Hey what about any comments on my spurs win over the Celtics? I didn’t get a chance to watch it on tv but heard I missed out on a great game. Gotta love Mason... Hes a younger version of Robert Horry.

That was a good night. Blazers over the Knicks, Spurs over the Celtics and the Lakers over the Cavs.

Due to my frustration with the B.S. NBA officiating, I quit the NBA. Obviously, I cheat every now & then. ;)

T-Mac getting grilled a bit on PTI today. Talking about how he couldn't dunk in that loss by a dozen in Milwaukee (124-112; MILWAUKEE BUCKS). Problems abound for the Rockets. Almost seems like we're turning into another Houston team- the Astros. You know, as far as a team that looks to have no promise or prestige right now.

There's talk in Sacromento that the team may try to sell the franchise because of financial woes and the push for a new arena. I think I read that the team could lose as much as $25M by next year or so. Have to wonder how the Kings will stay stable, if at all possible.

The Rockets finished the first half 32-21 by beating the Kings 94-82. We're currently 4.5 games back of San Antonio in Southwest Division standings. We are currently 11.5 games back of leading Los Angeles Lakers.

Here are standings as of right now if the playoffs started tomorrow:

EASTERN CONFERENCE:
1 - Boston!
2 - Cleveland! (1 back)
3 - Orlando! (3 back)
4 - Atlanta (11 back)
5 - Detroit (13.5 back)
6 - Miami (14 back)
7 - Philadelphia (14 back)
8 - Milwaukee (17.5 back)
LAST: Washington (31 back)

WESTERN CONFERENCE:
1 - Los Angeles Lakers!
2 - San Antonio! (7 back)
3 - Denver! (7 back)
4 - Portland (10.5 back)
5 - New Orleans (11 back)
6 - Dallas (11 back)
7 - Houston (11.5 back)
8 - Utah (13.5 back)
LAST: Sacromento (32 back)

This weekend should be fun with the All-Star Game. We still got plenty of basketball to go, though. Halfway through one half. Tradtionally, Houston pro teams are usually known as second half teams, so it will be interesting to see if my Rockets can make the playoffs and go much further than in the past (except for the lovely mid-90s runs we had).

Hope you all get to enjoy all the All-Star stuff. For my Rockets, it's back-to-work on Tuesday after this weekend for about a four-game home stand.

Well tonight's all-star events sucked, lol... Oh, except for one part. :D

What do you guys think of the Toronto/Miami trade? Think it makes Miami contenders, even just a little bit?

I'm hearing that Terry Porter (Suns' coach) could be on the chopping block. The Suns will not play until Tuesday when they have themselves a little two-game series. It's in Phoenix for Tuesday against the L.A. Clippers, then AT the L.A. Clippers the night after. Be interesting to see who the Suns will choose as their head coach. I think the trades made by Phoenix earlier in the season really crippled Phoenix as far as being a fearful power. Phoenix would be building for the 2009-2010 season if the playoffs started today.

TS is one of my GTPlanet friends on here, so I can only hope his Suns can rebound from this slump they're having. They are 28-23 on the season.

Porter has been under a lot of pressure this year trying to make the Suns more of a defensive team, rather than the fast-paced offensive team that they were during the D'Antoni years, and he's struggled to do that.

I think Steve Kerr And Jerry Colangelo may give Porter until the playoffs before they decide anything, but if the Suns don't move up from 9th in the West and miss the playoffs, he'll surely get the axe.

Didn't see all of it. I saw most of the first half, heard Arizona's own Jordin Sparks sing the National Anthem beautifully... and the Western Conference All-Stars won 146-119. Congratulations to the Western Conference winning on a Western Conference court.

Nice, the West took the win! Although old Nuggets great Iverson started for the East, but it really doesn't matter. :D

The last couple minutes turned into a preview of the '09 dunk Challenge.

Anyway, local news here in Phoenix is confirming that Terry Porter has been fired as coach of the Suns, assistant coach (the sole assitant left from the D'Antoni staff) Alvin Gentry will take over. Which means the Suns may go back to the old offensive, "run-and-gun" style basketball we saw when D'Antoni was coaching.

Also, this silences all rumors of the Suns trying to trade Amaré Stoudemire before Thursday's trade deadline, he wasn't fitting very well into Porter's system and there was a proposed deal with the Memphis Grizzlies that would give the Suns Rudy Gay and OJ Mayo iirc, but that deal died early last week.

I'm hearing a trade for Tracy McGrady could be made today. Tyson Chandler got traded to Oklahoma City (New Orleans to Oklahoma City; both of which play each other tonight!).

We're hosting the New Jersey Nets as part of this long homestand for my Rockets. Enjoy tonight's games as we get back to work!

[UPDATE] Let me speak a little more about the trade deals. The trade deadline will be on February 19th (this Thursday). Rumor has it that Tracy McGrady could be traded for Vince Carter. Imagine Vin-sanity rocking Houston! Sadly, we may have to give up Shane Battier and Carl Landry and maybe a few others. I love Carl Landry. Not to sound like a man-crush, but I'd hate to see Landry go. Especially to lose T-Mac. And if such players do better in other cities, it reaffirms a hate that I have in sports- good players not playing well (meaning playoffs and championships) for my hometown... but doing much better in other cities for other teams.

We'll see how this all plays out.

Rockets just knocked off the New Jersey Nets in a blowout. We won 114-88. Up next is a Friday night tussle with Dallas. That's right. Texas Triangle action this Friday.

Tracy McGrady is done for the year. It only makes the "Trade T-Mac!" comments even more intense. I want TS' thoughts on Randolph's cheap shot punch on Louis Anderson.

Again, my Rockets don't play again until Friday night. I bet the Suns will want nothing more than to rub out the Clippers in L.A. after the Clippers screwed with one of the Suns...

The Suns blew out the Clippers last night, 140-100, first game with Alvin Gentry as coach.

I want TS' thoughts on Randolph's cheap shot punch on Louis Amundson.

From the replays it looked nothing more than a hard foul, but once Amundson got up, he was getting yelled at by Randolph, Louis didn't like that and shoved him, well Randolph didn't like getting shoved and knocked Amundson in the face.

I say the officials should've just ejected Randolph, no need for suspending him.

Lou Amundson? After all, I'm human. I'll be sure to remember that name. Meanwhile, my Rockets have acquired two players, one of which from the Orlando Magic. Not sure whom we traded or traded for, but I'm hopeful our lineup can improve.

Tonight's NBA matches include San Antonio visiting Detroit, and then Boston heads to Salt Lake City to face the Utah Jazz. Enjoy tonight's two games!

I think Houston traded away Rafer Alston to get a first round draft pick next season.

Yeah. Rafer Alston was a great player. We're getting Mike Lowry and somebody else in this Magic-Rockets-Grizzlies trade. Best of luck to Alston in Orlando. I'm still curious as to if T-Mac will get the axe from the Rockets. If not soon, then at least in the off-season.

My Rockets won against their [one of their] rival[s, the] Dallas Mavericks 93-86. I caught the tail end of this game. Aaron Brooks was the man who got it done late with two clutch threes late.

I have to give honorable mention to Jason Richardson of the Suns, who pulled off a sick 360-degree dunk on a fast break. That was lovely!

[(SAD) UPDATE] Larry Miller has lost his battle with diabetes and has passed away. Long-time owner of the Utah Jazz, even the fantastic Miller Motorsports Park... my deepest thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

How will you remember Larry Miller?

Good news for the Suns - 3 straight games 140+ point games (all 3 have been victories)
Bad news - Amaré Stoudemire may miss the rest of the season after having surgery to repair a torn retina in his right eye.

That is a horrific injury for Amaré Stoudemire. Hope his eye gets better. I hate to imagine having the kind of eye injury Amaré has. Then again, who wouldn't cringe over an injury like this?

Word has it that the Knicks reached a buyout agreement for Stephon Marbury. He's told to go from the blue and orange of New York... to the green and white of Boston. It's "Starbury" star power. Perhaps will make Boston even more dangerous in the postseason.

At about 7:40 PM CST, it will be the friendly rivalry of myself and a6m5 as his Trailblazers will take on my Rockets at Toyota Center. My key issue is, can they shut down Brandon Roy and can the Rockets actually succeed against a potential playoff team in Portland? It won't get any easier this Thursday as my Rockets will host Cleveland. But first, my boys have to extinguish the Trailblazers.

Enjoy tonight's games!

Rockets were blowing out Portland until Portland made a game out of it late. Great win for Houston. Up next, LeBron James and his boys come down to H-Town Thursday night. Hope my boys can keep a good thing going when these boys come to Houston.

Haven't posted on here for a LONG while, so I reckoned I'd start posting again.

Last night, Nuggets beat the Hawks 110-109. That was a close one. Tomorrow we've got our next game against the Lakers. :nervous:

Also looks like NO have fallen away, so Houston are our nearest challengers...bring it on!!

Halftime in Houston, and we are leading 45-40. I was mostly watching Ugly Betty and wrestling, so I didn't get to see most of the first half. Suns at Lakers in the nightcap. Best of luck to your Suns, TS. Shaq comes back to L.A. in different colors. I'm pretty sure Kevin Harlan's going to be doing this game since Marv Alberts is doing the Cavaliers at Rockets game.

After Cleveland, we have a weekend road trip- at Chicago on Saturday and then at an improving Minnesota team. But first, we have to dethrone King James. Let's get it, Rockets!

UPDATE: Rockets got her done! We won 93-74. Cleveland got the fewest number of points heading itno the fourth quarter all season with 50 points. Up next is Suns at Lakers!
