Well, I put over 2500 miles on the car last week and got my first oil change today. What can I say, this car performs very well for what I need it for. The ride is smooth enough for the family, but sporty enough I can feel the road. Loaded with the family and all the vacation gear in the trunk, I experienced more body roll that I want on the turns at higher speeds (85+) on I-90, but still handled remarkably well IMO. I haven't had it over 125 mph yet, but can say it felt stable and stiff at those speeds with room to give me more. At 125, I had the RPM's just over 5K. With the rev limiter at 7.2K, I think I had more room to go. After last week I would never limit the visibility of my head lights, I love being able to see!!! The high beams are huge, they even light up a good 20 degrees behind the head lights giving me ditch visibility. Low beams are great with the fog lights below, high beams are deadly.
It was comfortable enough to support the family for a 17 hour trip on the way down to Oregon and a 14 hour trip back to Montana. Oddly enough, I found the seat position most comfortable when the sit was more vertical and closer to the steering wheel. Normally I would drive with a lazy-boy, kick back posture, but not in this car. It's a little tight getting in and out, but once I'm in the seat, it's very comfortable. A nice option would be to have the seat go back when the ignition turns off for more room getting out, and reverse the process when the ignition starts. The telescoping steering wheel (new to the 2008's) is a nice added feature. At higher speeds, I wish it was a little quieter to allow for easier conversation driving down the road. As Duke mentioned with frame-less windows, I attribute the added wind noise to that. I received some nice rock chips on the trip that make me sick and leaves me wondering what the best solution to solve that is. Although front bras are nice, for long extended use they can do more harm than good to the front end. Still trying to decide.
A couple of improvements I would like to do on this car is maybe a new blow off valve so I can hear a little whining of the turbo..., stabilizer bars front and rear as well as some new shocks. From what I've read, it can greatly reduce the body roll while maintaining the comfort sedan ride of the Legacy. Later, maybe a new up and down pipe for better air flow. Cobb still doesn't have maps available for 2008's (or the 2007's for that matter) so I don't see me getting an access port any time soon, but if they can squeeze another 45-50 HP to get me closer to 300hp without too much trouble or damage to the vehicle or warranty, I think it would be money well spent.
Anyhow, still no 18" wheels for spoiler, I think a little lip spoiler would be the way to go, the OEM spoiler is just....well....big.
So for now I'm still all grins and love driving every time I get into it.
Forgot to mention, at the sum of the mileage, I averaged 24.9 MPG, including a good share of 100+ mph speeds coming home.
