The V710 is not legal in street tire classes... unless your region allows an exception for them. You need a treadwear rating of 140. The V710's rating is "30" :) That's why the Azenis is so popular... and why I assumed you got 'em: they're legal in STS.

I went through 2 set of V700s on my AS/BS/ESP/BSP M3 and I currently have a set in my garage leftover from the 330. They are 'street tires' like an Atom is a 'street car'.

BTW, you want buy my V700s? 225/40-17s. Only one event on 'em :)

M

Yes yes, I know on that... except I run Street Comp/Mod due to my engine swap. Thus insane tires, etc. I wish I was in STS, honestly. Seeing a guy line up and run in car with twice the power and AWD makes me go :scared:

And I run 14 inch wheels ;) Cheaper tires, thankfully.

Street Tire Class 'ho. You should tell Pako the rubber comes off faster than when the girlfriend says "honey we don't need the condom anymore" if you drive like you got a pulse.

:rotflmao:

I've never heard that before! That's awesome!

*cough*

Offtopic, but can I see pics of your M3 ///M-Spec?

Here ya go. Sorry for the low quality, but they were taken 8 or 9 years ago in the dark age of digital cameras.

Here's the white one... just because it was in the same folder.

Small is beautiful 👍

I wish I could take credit for coining it, but I can't; I heard someone else long say it long ago at an autocross.

Nice pics! There's just something 'right' about the stance of a BMW as it sits on the road.

Well, I put over 2500 miles on the car last week and got my first oil change today. What can I say, this car performs very well for what I need it for. The ride is smooth enough for the family, but sporty enough I can feel the road. Loaded with the family and all the vacation gear in the trunk, I experienced more body roll that I want on the turns at higher speeds (85+) on I-90, but still handled remarkably well IMO. I haven't had it over 125 mph yet, but can say it felt stable and stiff at those speeds with room to give me more. At 125, I had the RPM's just over 5K. With the rev limiter at 7.2K, I think I had more room to go. After last week I would never limit the visibility of my head lights, I love being able to see!!! The high beams are huge, they even light up a good 20 degrees behind the head lights giving me ditch visibility. Low beams are great with the fog lights below, high beams are deadly. :) It was comfortable enough to support the family for a 17 hour trip on the way down to Oregon and a 14 hour trip back to Montana. Oddly enough, I found the seat position most comfortable when the sit was more vertical and closer to the steering wheel. Normally I would drive with a lazy-boy, kick back posture, but not in this car. It's a little tight getting in and out, but once I'm in the seat, it's very comfortable. A nice option would be to have the seat go back when the ignition turns off for more room getting out, and reverse the process when the ignition starts. The telescoping steering wheel (new to the 2008's) is a nice added feature. At higher speeds, I wish it was a little quieter to allow for easier conversation driving down the road. As Duke mentioned with frame-less windows, I attribute the added wind noise to that. I received some nice rock chips on the trip that make me sick and leaves me wondering what the best solution to solve that is. Although front bras are nice, for long extended use they can do more harm than good to the front end. Still trying to decide.

A couple of improvements I would like to do on this car is maybe a new blow off valve so I can hear a little whining of the turbo..., stabilizer bars front and rear as well as some new shocks. From what I've read, it can greatly reduce the body roll while maintaining the comfort sedan ride of the Legacy. Later, maybe a new up and down pipe for better air flow. Cobb still doesn't have maps available for 2008's (or the 2007's for that matter) so I don't see me getting an access port any time soon, but if they can squeeze another 45-50 HP to get me closer to 300hp without too much trouble or damage to the vehicle or warranty, I think it would be money well spent.

Anyhow, still no 18" wheels for spoiler, I think a little lip spoiler would be the way to go, the OEM spoiler is just....well....big. :)

So for now I'm still all grins and love driving every time I get into it.

Forgot to mention, at the sum of the mileage, I averaged 24.9 MPG, including a good share of 100+ mph speeds coming home.

Excellent, Pako! I'm glad to hear you're digging the car.

Swaybars are an excellent way to go for improving cornering stance without hurting ride. Find the LGT forums and see what the good sizes are for improved balance.

The Legacy forums are a tremendous resource! There is some great user feedback on different products. Not as many '08 users there, but those numbers will increase as the year progress and will hopefully open up more options for my car down the road. :)

Thanks for the pics. I forgot about this topic lol otherwise I'd post sooner. I'm definately digging the white one more than the black one--and thats odd because I prefer black.

Nice pics! There's just something 'right' about the stance of a BMW as it sits on the road.

I'd definately agree. Not many cars in the world have a road presence that a BMW does. Porsche comes to mind as does Nissan's sport coupes...and any Merc coupes+sport saloons.

Well, on a "closed track" I found the speed limiter is set at 140mph. Once I reached it, it throttled down the 135, then back to 140, then back down to 135, then back up to 140. I would guess that it would top out in the low 150's stock without the speed limiter of course. For what it's worth, I was hanging with a new Mustang GT just fine. I did find that where he had to brake for turns, the Subie had no handling issues what so ever. He had some serious body roll and bounce. No doubt, the Mustang would probably take the LGT on a straight away, but give me some turns and the Mustang should be a problem at all....

Anyways... lots of fun.

Well, I have the tint ordered for install on Monday. I'm going with 28% all the way around unless someone can convince me otherwise. I was going to go 35% but the sales guy talked me into the darker tint. He assures me the visibility is pretty much the same from 35-28% with just a slight difference (duh, like 7% difference) but anyways...does anyone have any experience with 28% vs 35% tint?

Should I go with 20% out the back window and 28% for all the sides?

Lots of options.... I think legal percentages in MT are 20% back, and 35% sides.

Thought I would post a pic of the tent. 28% all the way around. It's been raining for the past week, so I finally just took the shot this morning with my crappy phone camera.

I'm not a big fan of tint, but then again, I don't live in Big Sky country. It does look very nice, though. That is a great car.

Thanks for the comments. I have to say, I'm not too happy with the tint job. They claimed 15 years of service, but it looks like they had a noob do the install. I even had to have them re-do the driver door. After waiting the 5 recommended days to roll down the window, the film pealed back. Not happy, but they fixed it at my convenience. Secondly, I have quite a few dust bubbles in the back window. They said that tinting is not an exact science and things like that happen. I told him it's not acceptable, and he said to give it a month. Not sure what will magically happen in a month, but we'll see. They'll either have to fix it or give my money back so I can have it tented somewhere else. The cut lines around the window aren't as straight as I would expect from a 15 year professional in the trade of tenting, but maybe I'm being too critical.

My therapist said that journaling my anger will help me...so thanks for listening... :)

Twenty-eight percent? Sweet. The limit in Ohio is 50, which is pretty much a waste of money. Most people opt for 35% anyway.

They said that 28% was legal (although I found the law stating that 35% on front sides, and up to 20% for the rear windows was legal in MT) so I had them write "Legal Tint" on the receipt which I keep in my glove box in case I get pulled over for it.

Congrats on the new ride Pako. I really like the look of those Legacy cars. A friend of mine on the Forza site has a 05 Legacy. Amazing what just a wheel upgrade does to them. This is his car.

I know it. New wheels are on the list as well as front lip, rear spoiler, and STI pink springs.

I swear I've seen your buddy's car before, maybe on the LegacyGT forum. Nice looking rig!

Yeah I think he is probably on a Legacy forum. Goes by the name of DickDastardly on most sites. If you see him over there tell him I said hi. Oh btw we need to get some more Halo 3 going. That 4 player campaign is good times. You have to see what the grunt party skull does. :)

Oh yeah, I've seem him post before...Has a new kid and new Mazda if I'm not mistaken.

Halo 3, heck yeah...just recovering from the long weekend... :) What's this you say of the grunt party skull?!?!?! Can't wait.

Awesome car Pako. Welcome to the GTP turbo Legacy club!

I'd be real keen to compare what the new Legacy drives like. From what I hear they have heaps more pull down low compared to the TT's. But I really want to find out what the top end is like. The wagon just flies once the primary kicks in, I reckon the new ones would be absolutely fantastic if they had anything remotely close to the TT top end with grunt down low as well.

Not sure how it compares to the TT's. I've heard guys say the same thing, but I haven't tried the TT's first hand. I'm having a ton of fun with this car. I just ordered a rear lip spoiler and am waiting for the front lips to get in stock. I'll have to slowly pimp it out.... LOL

Not that I've seen. I see the 3.2L 250hp TT's, but not the Spec-B's.

What a sickness.... I'm now researching suspension options for less body roll with a little lower (not much) profile to the ground, 20g Turbo, Front mount inter-cooler, Access Port and new injectors, and if I do that, I might as well take care of the exhaust system while I'm at it. Something along the lines of a deep throaty gurgle sounds appealing. The last thing I want is a kid rice mobile. Being a daily driver, however, I'm feared that such mods will dramatically decrease the life the car. I would just have to assume that even if I wasn't rodding the snot out of it, the increased HP will take it's toll on the most moving parts on the car.

What do you guys think?

My brother has the 2005 version. Sweet car. Very capable. I'd drive one in a heartbeat. But to be honest, for the cash, I may have to go with a BMW.

But the AWD is certainly good stuff. Happy driving!

Man, those '08s are nice. Friend had an '06 LGT, the thing could run circles around my Impreza! I'm loving the gauge cluster, too.

Sorry if it's been asked, but how do you like the adjustible throttle response? I have a feeling that, if I had one, it'd never leave the "S#" setting...

For those who don't know, the Si drive system in the '07-'08 models basically offer three different maps for the ECU.

I = Intelligent Mode
S = Sport Mode
S# = Sport Sharp

"I" mode Gas Mileage Mode where I get around 25-27 MPG. Near as I can tell the turbo is disabled, or so it seems. If you're used to driving in S/S#, you will likely stall the car until you get used to switching between modes. It needs a lot more gas to get moving down the road.

"S" mode for most daily driving. It's fun enough to stay out of trouble. I average around 21-24 MPG in this mode. I would say this is where I spend most my driving.

Then there's S# mode that can only be activated when the engine temp is not cold. This is by far the most responsive mode, funnest to drive, and easiest to shift. I also average around 17-20 MPG in this mode.

I hardly ever use Intelligent mode unless I'm on a trip where throttle response isn't required and getting to the destination with the least amount of gas is desired. I still use S# at this point for passing.

My only complaint is that it has made COBB and the other AP manufacturers a difficult job to create useful tuning maps configurations for their AP's.

I'm not holding my breath and anticipate availability some time next year....

Yeah, I can imagine ECU problems with Si-Drive.

By the way, why not the Spec-B? I'd probably make the same decision if I were looking at one, opting for the GT, but that's because I'd be upgrading the suspension and buying new wheels anyway, and I don't really care about trim or special paint colors.

Any thoughts about upgrades for yours, on that note? You were thinking about STi springs, right? I'm imagining that thing on some nice 8- or 10-spoke bronze wheels, with a moderate drop.

The Spec.B was tempting. They had an '07 in stock but they weren't willing to deal on it, I guess they felt being one of the 500 made that it was something special (which it was, it looked awesome!!!). It would have cost me over $7k more than the GT Limited for basically 18" wheels, some chrome rocker panel trip, the nav. system ($2k option on the GT), a 6spd transmission, a little stronger differential, and a little stiffer suspension.

For the mods that I want, I will be looking at around $3k total and it's something I can do down the road when I can afford it. :)

Upgrades....

Man, not too sure how excessive I want to go, but COBB makes some nice exhaust options. I would like it to squat a touch more, reduce body roll, reduce nose dive and bucking when accelerating. It;s already pretty good, but a little more would help. 18" gun metal, thinking 8-10 spoke, an access port when ever it's available, front and rear lip spoiler when it's available, and perhaps even upgrading the turbo for a few more horses. What I haven't read yet is how hard the turbo upgrades are on the engine and other moving parts..., of course included in the turbo upgrade, FMIC, injectors, and a few other necessities would be required. Once can dream..... :)
