It's not just the badge though, it's the car as well, I think it's a bit ugly...ok really ugly and it's just not my type of car. I, like everyone else here, can not comment on how it drives or feels inside since we haven't drive it.

And no having a Mini badge doesn't make it cool, I do not really care for the drop top Minis or even the new Clubman. A badge doesn't make a car cool, but I think it can seriously hurt a car's chance of being cool. Seriously how many of us would assuming something stunning from Daewoo?

I don't think it's ignorant, we all have our favourite manufacturers and our not so favourite ones. I personally do not care for Nissans for one reason or another but I do not say they aren't good cars. I don't like their styling or what they have to offer.
👍 Works for me.

Well as I've said earlier, this is Nissan's ultimate offering so far. Or let's look at it this way if you wanted the ultimate offering from a car company:

* Chevy's finest is the $50 or $60-thousand USD Corvette.
* Ford's ultimate is the Ford GT (or was it sacked?) at almost as much as a a NASCAR Cup stock car ($160K)
* Ferrari's ultimate is the Enzo at about $650K.

You probably don't want to pay about $80K for a Nissan. But if you wanted the ultimate Nissan available now or soon, wouldn't you agree this new GT-R is the best bang for the buck if money wasn't an object?

Depends on how you look at it I suppose. Also depends greatly on what kind of car you like as well. Even if money was no object, I'd likely be giving the title to cars that are often cheaper than the Nissan, particularly when it comes to looks and overall performance.

If magazines were to bring back the old "B4B" comparison tests, I think the Nissan would fair well if the price cap was set high enough, but the Corvette is really the only thing it has to worry about in the American market, and IMO, thats tough competition indeed.

My guess if a magazine were to do one right now?

The Volkswagen GTI or Mustang GT would be hard to beat, and I'm sure that the Evolution X and MX-5 would rank highly as well.

OT, but yes the Ford GT was sacked a little over a year ago, and right now, Ferrari's top dog is the 599 GTB Fiorano price-wise. Performance wise, it's the 430 Scuderia (which equals a lap time around Fiorano like the Enzo).

it doesnt look half bad in black.

Agreed, the car looks far less goofy in black than in silver

...actually I might sort of like it.

I wish they would get rid of that stupid "mustache" though.

Wow! Black GT-R!!!

I wonder what it looks like in a color that's not monochrome, though. Red, or Blue, or Midnight Purple IV....

Because they're gonna do a Midnight Purple IV. Right?

The "mustache" (if you wish to call it that) does look pretty poor on the car. I'm okay with elongated grills, but I usually prefer clean grills. Examples... the Chrysler 300 has an amazing one (even some aftermarket grills don't look half bad). Most of today's Audis have the vertically-elongated grill design. There's actually a sort of crossbar underneath the Audi logo if you look closely. I think the tall grills are perhaps the trendiest design today. I didn't like the "mustache" for the concept Lancer Evolution X because I always liked cars that didn't have that tall grill look. It adds agression to the design up front, but makes it overaggressive and sometimes tacky. I'd prefer it to all be one car color rather than the base color and this "mustache." Most of you know I'm a blue guy that also likes red. So I'd like to see how this would look in a nice blue color.

Ever wonder how the GT-R would look in Super GT? Here's a link for you: < http://ww2.supergt.net/gtcgi/prg/NList02.dll/Code?No=NS009458&List=13 >. Seems like this is going to be the car that will challenge their rivals racing Toyota Soarers. If Nissan and NISMO have their way, they may well be able to beat out the Toyotas and Hondas (non-factor for most fans of the series). I'd be very interested in seeing cars painted up by traditional sponsors like Calsonic's blue colors and Nissan's silver and red colors.

Nissan fans are still going to get themselves a solid high-end sports car. So make ready to feature this bad boy in action ranging from video games to Top Gear (wonder what kind of times this thing would run around Top Gear's test track) and all points in-between. You got this GT-R. You're going to get the upcoming 370Z. Life's grand for Nissan sports car lovers right about now.

Hondas (non-factor for most fans of the series).
Well, these "non-factors" won 5 of 9 races during the 2007 season with 4 of the 5 NSXs finishing 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th in the drivers standings (the other team, REAL, was a rookie team).

Honda > Toyota and Nissan

Nissan has just revealed its US-spec 2009 GT-R at the LA Auto Show. This AWD sports car features a "twin-turbo 3.8L V6 churning out a healthy 480 HP and 430 ft-lbs of torque." Pricing is expected to start at $69,850 when it's released next year -- preorders begin in January. -techeblog.com

Only $69,850 in the U.S? Knowing how rediculously cheap cars are in the U.S, I'm guessing it will hit our shores at over twice the price. A starting price of $150,000 is estimated here.

But yes, black (As always) makes the car look cleaner and meaner. But I'd still take mine in Midnight Purple...

It will probably not be far off twice the price here, I'd estimate £55k-£60k.

It looks absolutely brilliant in black. And for $70k? I'm sold. I don't care what anyone says (Joey D), $70k is a bargain for what you get out of the box regardless of brand. If the NSX just came out today at a price of $70k~75k I'd call it a good deal. I mean there is a $100k Cadillac that's quite lame...so what's the beef with a car that is actually the opposite of lame.

So, looking at exchange rates, it should cost less than that in Canada. But id wager it probably will cost more...

I also have to mention that while the car looks respectable, but not great, in most colours, it really shines in black. 👍

Agreed. 👍

Acura badging of NSX was a big deal in the early 90's. $70,000 in 2007 is not that much money. Joey makes it sound like the car is an exotic costing couple hundred grand.

You know.. The mustach part? It looks like its the entire car and that the gray part is just a blanket covering it. It looks cool.. Reminds me of an F-22.
