Hamilton could be taking Webber at this rate by Brazil...just needs a better race and he can get 4th after all.

If i won the race i would have done a double finger wave and shout the following "Yes, Yes, Da Ding Ding Ding Yes, Yes Great Job" like Vettel does just to show him how it feels hearing it.

Good to hear something other than that that Austrian anthem. Now I know why they need energy drinks, their anthem goes on for days.

Random thought. Do they play the British anthem twice here?

Answer: They don't.

By the way, happy birthday Mrs. Hamilton.

Impressive set of laps on his last set of Softs for Webber, but he really have to start qualifying at a decent position, so he can get some clean air because that car look horrendous in traffic, mainly because of the straight line speed.

Yes, but they also have to play the German anthem when Vettel win.

It's not the speed. It's just that the RBR is designed for optimum performance with DRS closed... not with DRS open.

I wonder, hey, Jessica... does that little brush Jenson has going on up there tickle?

Just curious.

Sounds like you are jealous that she gets to play with it.

EDIT: Anyway, race was better than I thought it would be.

niky, dude, stop your double posting! :P

I wonder if Brazil is going to be home to yet another completely out of the blue pole sitter? Schuma -- no, that wouldn't really be out of the blue. Buemi or Di Resta, perhaps?

Sure if you want to call Vettel "out of the blue".

The Red Bull is a car built to lead. It's incredibly aerodynamically sensitive. Even Vettel, whenever he's gotten stuck behind traffic, has struggled. Thing is, Webber couldn't buy a good start with Alonso's salary, so he's always in some sort of traffic. As we just saw, he had the open air, with those softs, and he capitalized on it, and was lapping consistently fast, something not dissimilar to what Vettel would do in that situation.

Verdict is, Webber's not as bad as it might seem. It's just that he not only can't put that golden lap out there like Vettel can in qualifying, but because of that poor qualifying pace, he gets stuck in traffic, and insult to injury, his poor starts make things worse. More insult to injury, his pitstops are just never as good as Vettel's.

Mrs Lockhart according to Wikipedia :sly:

Damnit. Don't ruin it!

I'm a one lady man. Button isn't quite girly enough for me, but he is cute. Realistically, I'm wondering about getting mine cut that way... my beard is more like wire wool compared to Jenson's neat little shoebrush. :D

I'll be damn, Vettel didn't win.

Either way, is nice to see other drivers taking the podium, I'm not really sure about the race since I skipped (because of the RB almost perfect in dry conditions stuff), something makes me think I skipped a good race so I will just watch it to see how it went.

Is also nice to see Hamilton winning, he was improving performance since a couple of races ago and I do believe that this will be a strong boost morale moment for him.

Double posts? Blame the internet. My lag is worse than Webber's race starts.

It's worth noting that Webber was making those fastest laps on option tires, at a time when the McLarens and Ferraris were on prime tires. His clean air race pace when they were all on the same tires mid-race was not really any better than the two McLarens and Alonso. He only got good runs up on Button due to the KERS issue.

👍 Cant argue with this.

Although I'm no Hamilton fan, I'm content with him winning. Fingers crossed that this will be the mental boost he needs to get his head back in the game.

Personally I'd have preferred to have witnessed Vettel being passed and beaten on the circuit. Anyhow, at least for one evening the finger will remain tucked away!

D'oh!

Post-race conference is interesting... Button's KERS not only failed, but came back on intermittently after resets... so Button had to drive around not knowing whether he'd be getting KERS assist or not under braking for most of the race. Massive respect to him for being able to hold on to that position despite KERS issues. Maybe with KERS, he would be closer behind Alonso... or even in front of him.

I'm a bit split on DRS zones this race. Having pass and repass happen over and over again got frustrating... but after a bit, you start to realize that this adds a layer of strategy to overtaking. Smarter drivers used the first zone to pull hp (and save KERS) so they could mount a proper attack in the second one.

Maybe we need more interesting DRS combos in future races... as it puts some skill and strategy back into overtaking compared to having just one kamikaze zone per track...

Wow, F1 Forum... Harassing, kind of, Sam Michael.

Also, first time of the season that a Red Bull is not on the podium?
Indeed, it is the first time in 2011 neither Red Bull driver has mounted the podium. Sebastian failed to reach the podium back in Germany, however Mark took 3rd on that occasion.

And David Coulthard saying the yellow flag was for a bollard on the track 10 laps earlier when it was Ricciardo's car, he doesn't have a clue.

Blame Webber. Though poor pit strategy certainly didn't help. Once it was clear that Webber would have trouble overtaking either Button or Massa, they should have started cycling him through pit stops earlier.

Interesting from Steve Slater... he thinks that Button is good for Hamilton. Think about it... Hamilton has commented on that "bubble" around Button... and it's a balance he's now trying to strive for, himself. He looks more calm and in control in this race. No stupid mistakes. No risky moves (through traffic)... he just drove hard and drove well.

Perhaps when Lewis gets that Button zen going (hopefully without the moustache...) next year, we'll see him pose a credible threat to Red Bull... no matter how good their car is.
