2011 Chinese Grand Prix

Well I wonder what the penalty for using DRS on another part of the track aside from the back straight is.

I'm wondering the same.

Could it have been an accident of some kind, or was he trying to sneak one in?

Vettel has a 18 second lead on Rosberg, he should be able to pit and come out in front.

Vettel really capitalized on these last couple laps.

Apparentley it's 23 seconds lost in the pits and it's now 16 and a half seconds.

What a move on Alonso by Rosberg now.

Rosberg right up to Alonso now, and on fresh tyres. If Rosberg has only one stop left, surely he is in the running for a win :)

Edit: advert breaks

Unfortunately, as the Race Director has shown (we're all watching the same vids), Alonso DID open his DRS in the wrong area of the track.

Vettel can possibly do a two-stopper... but can he baby the tires enough to stay ahead of the three-stoppers?

Explanation for Vettel's robotically perfect race pace? He's secretly R2D2? Just listen to that radio chatter.

Bravo Button on Alonso!

About 14seconds between Vettel and Rosberg. Rosberg will need to catch Vettel before the last round of stops.

Vettel pits!

Maclaren's and Alonso have jumped him but he will have much fresher rubber. I can't see it working for him on a 2 stop or a 3 stop at this stage. Prove me wrong Seb.

I think the radio communication this year is a big deal. The driver knows best how much the tires are dropping of and he is in control of when to come into the pits more than ever.

Interesting... Vettel is likely going to try to make this set of tires last the rest of the race distance. I don't know what Rosberg is doing, but he will likely do another stop... as will Button and Hamilton. Can Vettel get the gap down to the point where he will pass Rosberg when he pits? And will his tires still be in condition to hold them off after a dozen or so laps?

Epic between Webber and Petrov... Petrov is NOT giving that position up easy... despite lacking grip... but Webber finally takes it.

Also starring Paul Di Resta as Luke Skywalker... may the Force (India) be with him...

Some vintage drives today from Schumacher and Massa... McLaren still look quick, but their formation fail earlier will be a talking point. Why do I get the feeling that Lewis will have a face like fizz after this race?

Problem with Vettel's strategy is that Rosberg will have much better tyres even if he comes out behind. Wow this is brilliant. Who knows?

Hamilton takes Button!

A race to forget to Jenson - a bit sleepy letting LH past.

Rosberg is going to have very fresh tyres compared to Massa and Vettel come his pit...
