2012 Nissan GTR [0-60: under 3 seconds]

The GT-R is perfectly fine sitting there not getting any attention. It performs better in every single category than the F40.

I'd be interested to see a roll race from 50mph. 478bhp and ~2400lbs vs 545bhp and ~3800lbs

A more interesting case would be seeing the price tag and how long a trip around a track would take.

Wow! It's the result of a Japanese businessman's holiday fling in Sweden!

PS people who prefer the GTR to the Ferrari F40 are wrong, and that's not a matter of opinion, it's fact.

How could opinions, based on subjective preferences, be more right than another? I like the GTR over the F40 for a number of reasons.

Give me a GT-R for free, I'd keep it.

Give me a F40 for free, I'd sell it and buy a GT-R. :dopey:

(and some other cars)

Is this a commentary on the value of an F40 or a personal preference for the GT-R?

I know, for instance, that I would sell a Ferrari 250GTO in an instant if ownership was given to me. Even if it was my favorite car, the value is better spent on buying dozens of other great cars.

This pretty much. I don't hate the F40, but why own one when you can sell it and get several cars. :dopey:

Agreed.

Out of curiosity, which would you take if they were worth the same amount or you couldn't sell them. Basically I'm focusing on the cars alone.

The GT-R is way better then a F40, other then the fact that the F40 would cost the price of the GT-R just to maintain it. It's better car for daily driving and a fun for track.

Because they don't align with my own :)

If he's not being serious.

Not sure if serious or....

;)

GT-R

Probably more comfortable as a daily. Better mileage too.

Well that certainly stirred up a hornet's nest! :) Nah, my opinion is that no matter how impressive the GTR is as a technical exercise, the F40 changed the game, and even now, no matter whether it's faster or slower, or less efficient or whatever, I still find the idea of owning an F40 much, much more exciting than owning a GTR. I respect the GTR immensely, but I couldn't ever love it.

It'd be around an equal match given 60-120mph times, but the GT-R would more than likely edge it out.
I'm cracking up at the people who would take a GT-R over an F40 even if they were the same price.
Even if the F40 is an icon in the auto world, that hardly means it's liked by all. Some people will take a GT-R over it just as some people will take a Corvette over a Carrera GT.

The GT-R because it comes with a competitive warranty. And unlike the F40, The GT-R is not an old Italian supercar, so the chances of it exploding skydives.

That's not the point. You have to pick between the two cars mentioned.

No I don't, and you're the one missing the point. Which is that if you had the money for either, you'd have the money for a daily as well, and if it was the F40, you'd probably have the money for a really comfortable daily, like, I dunno, an XFR perhaps?

It's a cute assumption about Italian cars, but history has never shown the F40 being a victim of exhaust fires that became infamous with the F430 & Gallardo.

For the record, I'd take an F40 for the following reasons:

-I was never interested in the GT-R or most other heavyweights.
-I'd like to experience what all the fuss about pertaining to the F40.
-I'd rather drive down the road and get thumbs ups from 50 year old men than a bunch of adolescent boys.
