Who parked that minivan next to the Mustang? The Mustang is a bigass car but holy cow!

I just can't do it. I can't get excited about the GT-R or lust after one. I get that it's crazy fast around the track and on the drag strip. I also get that if I tried to tap into much of that I'd wrap myself around a telephone pole somewhere.

I just want a car that puts a grin on my face, is well glued together, and that I can't stop looking at. That last one is what really kills me about the GT-R. I pointed one out to my wife who assumed it was a run-of-the-mill fat, ugly, cheap coupe. I explained to her that it's crazy fast and the sentiment that I got back was "what a waste". A decent part of owning an amazing car is admiring it when you're walking up to it and walking away from it.

I don't need to get to 60 mph in 3 seconds. I don't need to be 3 seconds faster around a track than a porsche. What I want is a car that looks amazing, handles well, pulls hard, communicates well, and has a sexy engine note.

That's why I think the GT-R is criticized as soul-less. Not because it handles badly or doesn't feel alive around the track, but because of it lacks a presence. Anyway, I've watched the videos, and I want to like it, I just can't.

That's perfectly normal, as those thoughts/feelings are shared by countless others for cars with a greater presence than the GTR or any other car for that matter. As they say....."Different strokes....." :)

I agree, it is normal. To me at least, it looks purposeful. It's kind of nice to have a bit of a...stealth factor. Only for those "in the know" to compliment it. And I think the larger-than-normal wheels, the vents and front fender give it it's own character. It's not terribly flashy, but I like it that way.

All of those things he mentioned though are good things, and numbers definitely aren't everything. Not even close.

I'll admit though that I'm probably a bit biased on this one because there's one in the garage right now. ^^; But my opinion on it didn't really change from the beginning. And I think it does look like something when you leave it in a parking lot. Especially since they are still reasonably uncommon in Canada. At least compared to 911s or something!

'In the garage' probably means that he's been working on one. Still, about as close as you can get to actually driving it :D

I don't know how to work on it, I must admit that. ^^; (Well, apart from the basic) But...if proof is required I'll post something later I guess. Though there is no reason for me to randomly lie, considering how long I've been at GTP.... unless the Library strike being over in Toronto has made me delirious. Haha.

I will also note that the one I took in my profile picture here is not it. That was taken earlier, and is of another one - a member of the NAGTROC. I took some photos of a gathering they had a few years ago.

EDIT: I can do more later, I guess. If so required. I do read the "Ludicrous claim" thread occasionally. Haha.

Even though this is cluttering up this thread. ^^;

Nice pic. Never have seen the key before looks pretty cool :D. I have a friend that has one too ( his working in switzerland) with about 700HP 👍.

I can see where people are coming from, but to me I think the GTR is mean and aggressive looking, and when sitting next to most sports cars it stands out. I get plenty of looks, honks and pics taken when I'm driving my GTR (mostly because people know what it is), but I still get the encounters of people (many older people) asking me what it is and telling me how beautiful it is without even knowing anything about them. To each its own I guess. Now of course a GTR sitting next to a 458 Italia would be a different story. Now I think the Porsche brand is one of the ugliest sport/supercars out there (with the exception of good color combo of the GT2/GT3 RS and some Turbo S .

So awesome it brings tears to my eyes :dopey: .

With the full boost wich is 1600whp it will certanly pass the 240mph mark :sly:.

I second this. I love all the under-the-bonnet stuff, but it just isn't a looker like the older GT-Rs.

I love the R35. Just love it. But theres nothing like this car to me:drool:. The R34 really was "The last of the Skylines";)

Have you seen in it real life and stood next to it? Before I ever saw it in real life I also didnt find it that good of a looker from what I saw in pictures.... But the moment I stood next to one real life with those massive 20 inch wheels... My jaw dropped to ground and I can say I really, really like it. It's huge, obnoxious and mean looking... and it has the performance to back it up to :D

I do agree with you though that the older Skyline GTRs are more "pretty" :sly: I wonder if they'll go back to an R34 look when they do the new GTR...

^ Doubt that. The older Skyline had not really good Cv, aerodynamics.
The R32 beeing the worst with 0.40
R33 0.35 (depending on how the rear spoiler was set up)
R34 slightly under the R33
Alone the roofline (c pillar) of the R35 is an aerodynamic masterpiece (that's why you see it also on the 370z and the ft86 has a similar one)

I like all the Skylines.
The new one is really big and heavy and still handles nothing like it weight. Attesa FTW.
The only one I am less interested in is the R32, mainly safety wise
