At least from what I've seen, the BBC seems to like to wait for confirmation before putting up stories.

And that's it, he's been sacked. Manchester United says via their official twitter account "Manchester United announces that David Moyes has left the club. The club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role."

So, next year Louis van Gaal to United? The tabloids should have fun with him.

Well, we can't blame them for a lack of ambition - but one can't help but think they are slightly deluded if they believe that they could prize Guardiola away from Bayern.

Man Utd can no doubt survive a season out of the CL, but they will not want to make a habit of it.

I just hope they don't land Klopp. When Arsene leaves, I would love him to be Wengers successor for Arsenal.

Klopp has said publicly that he's staying at Dortmund... and he's never broken a contract. However, his brother, Klippity, might be interested.

I've heard Guardiola mentioned  Why on Earth would he leave Bayern to join Man U?

Van Gaal looking the most likely I guess... which will piss off Spurs fans as they thought he would be their next manager when Tim gets the boot at the end of the season

I think Chris Hughton might be free ;)

IMO, whatever happens, Man U are going to be out of contention to win anything major for the next 2 - 3 seasons.

The new manager is going to have to rebuild the entire team, with the exception of De Gea and Mata. RVP is 30 now, so already towards the end of his career and constantly suffering from injuries, and personally, I'd sell Rooney (doesn't produce, massively overpaid). I don't think anyone but these 4 would get into any of the other top teams lineups... and I doubt Rooney would get into the Liverpool or Man City starting 11 (RVP might if he was 100% fit).

Not only is that going to cost the Glaziers an absolute fortune, but with no ECL, they'll have to pay massive wages to encourage quality players to sign. And that amount of change within the team will take a while to settle and get used to the tactics the new manager wants them to play.

The transfer kitty seems to get bigger every day... started out at £100 million, and now I see people quoting £200 million!! That's a massive amount of money once you take elevated salaries in to consideration. Not sure if the Glaziers will want to throw that sort of money at the team in one go with no European revenue.

This is going to be fascinating to watch over the next few years :)

I feel for Moyes, he did some good things like bringing Januzaj through and we had a great season in the Champions League (first time we made the Quarters in three years!) and I liked the fact that he was all around Europe watching matches and scouting talent when he didn't have to (we have scouts for that) he is a good coach but this was too much for him and I agree with the decision to sack him....I wish him well...

...from what I read earlier, Van Gaal wouldn't be a long term option because of his age (he's 62), so if he got the job for three years until Klopp's sees his contract then that would be pretty good...

...I also read earlier on Twitter that we could make a bid for Lionel Messi! would never happen in a million years, espcailly now Barca have that transfer ban, and the fact he would cost the same as Aston Villa!

 Terrible.

 Free as in cost nothing... or maybe he could become the world's first Pay Manager and buy his way into the job?

I read Man City are going to bid £250 million for Messi on a football web site last week ROFLMFAO

Buying Messi would put any club in breach of FIFA FFP

 Terrible.

I confess the Klippity one wasn't a Stotty original ;) :D

'Pay manager'

Anzhi triggered Messi's 250m release clause in December 2012 but Messi stayed at Barca. The PSG owner has threatened to do so every time Thiago Silva has been linked with Barcelona as well. I doubt he'll ever leave to a major European club tbh.

Moyes stayed behind at Carrington to shake the hand of the players and wish them luck, just because he was crap doesn't change the fact that he is a good man...

...also, Giggs is the first man in history to play for and then manage United...

True.

Messi will most likely spend his entire career at Barca (his entire meaningful career that is - he may end up in the US when he's >35 and just wants to earn another pile of cash like a few players seem to be doing). Barca aren't going to be stupid enough to let his contract run down, and as long as he has a contract, no one else will be able to afford him. And no league outside Europe has any chance of affording his transfer fee or his £300k/wk wages

I don't doubt he is a good man... just completely out of his depth at Man U.

He'll get another job easy enough, but I think it will take him a while to get over the experience and I don't think he'll ever manage a big team again.

We should take that banner down at OT and put up one that says 'The Interim One' for Giggsy :sly:

Giggs is interimming? And I thought I'd heard everything the cancelled superinjunction covered.

Have another two...

You know Klopp has a brother called Klippity, but did you know Philip Lahm has a sister called Cara?

And...

"1-1 89th minute, Giggs is lining up a substitution, but wait, he's stripping off, Giggs himself is coming on, for David D'Gea no less! "

Fun fact my towns old football team "Rushden and Diamonds" used to have a playing manager. His name was Barry Hunter. Wasn't much younger than Giggsy.

Kettering Town F.C (my hometown's team) also had a 'Player-Manager' a few years back as well. In fact, he came on to score a championship winning goal in the last 10 minutes if I recall correctly.

Fortunately, Giggs won't be doing the same ;).

Oh wow, I support(ed) (Rushden and diamonds) and Man Utd. You support Kettering and Arsenal, how have we not clashed?

Such a shame Moyes has been denied the opportunity to say goodbye to the fans.

Classless.
