I haven't been following his whereabouts since he left Birmingham City, but that is very sad news regardless. It always is when someone so young goes so suddenly.

RIP Chucho.

After returning from Birmingham, he became a scoring monster. In 3 out of the 4 seasons he spent with América he won the goal scoring championship, not to mention his production in Santos Laguna made him one of the best forwards in the history of the Guerreros... I can't believe he's gone... I think we didn't even see his best... What a sad day for football :(

And...

Bale... 120million euros????

You can even buy one or even 2 entire teams with that kind of money... He's very good, but not that good IMHO...

If I were Madrid, I'd go after him after the World Cup, once his value drops... (because I think it will)... Honestly, If I had a team and 120million euros, I'd go and buy Benteke, Sneijder, Neuer, Hector Moreno, Thiago Silva and Carlos Vela... that's how you upgrade a team...

Bale isn't going to make a revolution in a place were there is a guy like CR7 already...

85 million for Bale is WAY too much, I think 50 mill is far more reasonable..

CR7 has hit his prime, Madrid are eventually going to have to get a new superstar.

If this is based off 80 mill for Ronaldo, let's do a comparision...

Last 3 seasons for United, Ronaldo played 155 games scoring 89 goals. That's 0.57 goals per game.

Bale last season with half of it spent injured and not really hitting full flow till Christmas, played 44 games scoring 26 goals. 0.59 goals per game.

Also worth noting that the Man Utd team Ronaldo played for was much better than this Tottenham side.

It really isn't fair comparing someone with 3 seasons to somebody with 1 and then a few extra games.

Its appropriate in this case, Ronaldo had an average(in comparison) final season at United and Madrid's interest was based on the seasons before-hand.

Bale however is only a target for Madrid based on what he has done the past season, not the seasons before where he didn't hit the levels of the past season.

A better comparison may be Ronaldo's penultimate season and the Bale season I mentioned, or the past 3 seasons for Bale, both of which would give Ronaldo a higher return, but I sincerely doubt Bale will go back to scoring 10 odd goals a season if he remains at Tottenham.

P.s don't get your "few extra games" line.

38 is a full PL season, 44 would've been a season and a few games in other competitions, or another season.

Full season in all competitions.

Anyway...

£85M for Gareth Bale...
That's right up there with £35M for Carroll

I don't know who is crazier:

-RM for offering a world record fee for a ONE-season wonderkid.
-Spurs for not accepting immediately.

Hmmm Spurs seem intent on not selling Bale, even though he apparently wants to go, could end up another Modric or Berbatov. As much as I want Bale to help a Champions League push, I don't think playing him on a team he(allegedly) doesn't want to play for will have a good long term benefit. :indiff:

I think Spurs will see sense and sell Bale once they get the right deal - world record fee plus one or two players... but they do hold all the cards at the moment - and with today's signing of Soldado, Spurs are looking like a strong team this season - provided they can hold on to Bale (and keep him in a positive frame of mind)...

..in related news, Real are particularly anxious to get Bale because Ronaldo is not happy with his contract negotiations. Apparently he is after a substantial wage increase, from a paltry £200,000 a week, to something like £330,000 a week, or £17.5m a year - and that's after tax.

I just read that Clint Dempsey is planning to move to Seattle Sounders...

He just broke the American record for goals in Europe last year and had 7 goals and 4 assists this year. He's not even 30 yet and playing some of the best soccer of his life. I don't understand. Unless this is a stunt to bring some type of validation to MLS or American soccer, I don't agree with the move..

I'm amazed no-one's picked up on Wednesday's signings of former France U19 Jérémy Hélan (4yr contract), 6ft 6in Kosovar Austrian youth international striker Atdhe Nuhiu (3yr contract) and Guinean international defender Kamil Zayatte (2yr contract).

It's like only the big money top flight transfers are interesting.

This thread has basically become the Suarez, Bale, and Manchester transfer thread. There's very few posts about the signings that teams like Southampton and Sunderland have made, and they're pretty good ones at that.

I agree and Spurs should not be looking to sell him at all either, he should be an important player for them, even more so if Bale does go.

Sunderland need to be careful, signing too many players isn't that good of an idea sometimes, look at QPR. Southampton have paid way too much for Wanyama, it's big risk signing anyone from the Scottish leagues these days and the prices should reflect that.

Those Wednesday signings look promising Famine, lets see if they help them get up the table

I don't understand the Dempsey thing either, he is a top class player...

Because money????

:yuck:

Who on Earth are Southampton and Sunderland?

Like we say in Mexico... at least for small teams:

Some minor teams of the 3rd division of... Guatemala

Still more transfer activity than Arsenal.

Inother news Chamakh and le gerv are off ,most of the deadwood are gone now.

Sadly our one chance of a trophy this season has gone up in smoke thanks to Drogba ,curses I tell thee

Manchester city are contempt in buy forwards and attacking defenders, they haven't even looked at full defensive players yet and Pellegrini knows he needs some but has already spent 90mil, there accountant much be loving this.

On my teams side, United have official opened up the possibility of a Ronaldo return, the number 7 shirt is vacant! But Rooney will not leave, to much at steak, theres a reason he's a lone wolf for England because he cant link up like he can at utd, and never will at another team. Him and RVP were great together last year even if he doesn't score, team game wayne, team game.

Ronaldo will defo go if, bale comes, if bale goes then plenty of dough for 3 or 4 great forwards. And its not like there just spending 85 mill on bale because on e that money moves out, it will come right back after Ronaldo sale. Plus Utd already got that money for him 5 years ago so no lose to them either. the only team with a difference is spurs with the WonderKid.
Suarez is sure to go, maybe spain just not real or barca.

But not one team has put a candle to Bury's signing list. 19 players and 24 on trail...........all because 95% were sold due to financial concerns. Alot of lower league free moves so far, not many paid players moving though. Glad Gervinho has left the Prem, he was terrible. Finally, Another Rooney is still moving around, little cousin Adam Rooney is at Oldham, pity, he looked ok last year.

Ramblings about Luis Gustavo to Arsenal, good signing if it happens.
Wenger not giving up on Suarez just yet as well

Wenger has confirmed that they are in talks with Bayern over Gustavo...

The John Henry era can so far be summed up in three words and one number...Stewart, Downing, 20, Million....what the hell were they thinking!?
