I'm off to sunny Silverstone tomorrow for the MotoGP! I'll take a few photos and I'll be interviewing some people in the paddock as well. I'll see you all on Sunday!

I saw on my SkySports app earlier that Redding got a ride with Gresini, I assume it's the proper Gresini bike and not that POS Staring is on.

And what's this mysterious lever?

honda.jpg

Following text is just the Italian text put in Google translate.

"Looking through the box, to the most careful observers did not escape a particular characteristic of all Honda. It is a small lever under the left handlebar, in the same position where it was fixed the rear brake lever to the handlebar, such as that used by Doohan. The lever of the mystery is shown in the photo on the left. Its function is different, however, and try to solve the mystery was Valentino Rossi. "I do not think that would serve to restrain, the Honda riders use the classic pedal" has guaranteed the Doctor.

Then he assumed his function: "I think that it serves to put the transmission in neutral, even if it's just my guess." The seamless exchange has the advantage of canceling the transit time between one gear and the other, always ensuring traction during changed. In practice, and greatly simplifying its operation, it is as if the change had always two gear, being able to switch between them in a very quick time. In a traditional motorcycle exchange the idler is placed between the first and the second, but this would cancel all the advantages of the seamless transition between the two gears.

"In order not to lose them - continues Valentino - the crazy has been moved below the first, but this could be a problem when you scale the brakes. There is a risk that put the crowds. Then, they could have stuck his engagement with the foot pedal. "The explanation for Rossi nell'inedito role of technician is flawless. I wonder if Honda will confirm the theory."

Choke? :dopey:

Likely Rossi is right. Seamless may render neutral between 1st and 2nd impossible.

Please tell me we watched qualifying! That was insane from Lorenzo and then Marquez goes even quicker, I absolutely cannot wait for tomorrow now :)

Do you guys get all the qualifiers or just your home track like we do here in America?

On British Eurosport we get FP2, FP4 and quali live but the races are live on the BBC. All regardless of where the track is

I have the feeling Marquez was at his very best then, keeping that up for a full race will be hard.

That was a really awesome last lap in Silverstone, well done to the two top performers Jorge and Marc! Really comparable to the Rossi-Lorenzo fight in Barcelona.

What a day of racing! Firstly Scott Redding soaked up the pressure like a sponge and pulled off a huge win and a bad day at the office for Pol certainly made it sweeter for everyone in the country :)
Marquez's heroics to just get on the bike deserve so much praise and to do what he did is just beyond comprehension for me. He was even given 2 points on his license for ignoring the yellow flag when he crashed in warm up, a bit harsh if you ask me but nobody is. Just full credit to the marshals for being aware of he serious danger to themselves and Cal, top job!
Then a typical bonkers race in Moto 3 between the now 4 runaway Spaniards and Luis Salom looks a force to be reckoned with, he is riding injured as well don't forget.

So thanks to GTPlanet I managed to get a ticket to the Silverstone MotoGP event which included paddock access and hospitality for the entire weekend! I've got to give my thanks mainly to MikeRotch for the tip-off about the tickets and also to ZohsixGT5 for the ticket! I've got a full write-up about it coming up at some point. Anyway, if you follow MotoGP then I'm sure you'll be interested to see what riders I met!

Awesome pics man, you got to meet some awesome personalities - imagine F1 driver's granting you so many photos! I'm looking forward to the write-up mate 👍.

I see that Yamaha is giving Jorge and Rossi the seamless gearbox this weekend - hopefully it gives them both something extra to help fight against the Honda brigade.

Hopefully, but only for the sake of exciting racing :P As much as I love the Yamaha pair, I also adore how Marquez rides and part of me is rooting for him to take the title this year.

Speaking of which, with 6 races to go, who will take it this year in your opinions? With Marquez holding a 20 point lead over Pedrosa who in turn is only 9 clear of Lorenzo. Can Rossi maybe even turn it around? 77 point deficit but with 150 still up for grabs, it isn't out of the question.

Fixed.

I'm rooting for Marquez or Lorenzo. I've been a fan of both for years and I would be happy if either one of them won it. I'm leaning towards Marquez. I had fairly high expectations for his first season in the premier class and he's surpassed them by a country mile.

It's Marquez or Jorge for me. Pedrosa just doesn't seem to have the pace he had at the start of the season and seems to be psyched out by MM and Rossi just doesn't have the pace of the front three.

Out of MM and Jorge.... If the Yamaha can get to equal performance in relation to Honda, I'd go with Jorge as he can be consistently 100% every lap for an entire race, whereas MM can ride faster but I do not think can do so consistently without risking a trip to the kitty litter.

At the start of the season I wanted Pedrosa to win at least one title but when you look at Marquez and Lorenzo you wonder whether or not he would be worthy of one.

Thank you very much, I enjoyed myself immensely over the weekend. The write-up is taking much longer than expected sadly as my Laptop screen bit the dust and I need to transfer all the files from the hard-drive.

I think that unless Marc makes critical mistakes or for some mystery reason struggles in the latter part of the season then it's going to be a tough even for someone of Lorenzo's calibre to take the fight to him. I wouldn't say it's impossible though.

It just seems that the Honda is the bike to be on right now, even with the Yam's new gearbox. Even though Jorge and Vale are on the front row Marquez took pole by half a second! The tech 3s have struggleed so far this weekend whereas Bradl and Bautista have been up there and Pedrosa looked really angry after qualifying so I'm hoping for an angry Dani tomorrow but it looks set for another Marquez victory. More to the point, with a lot of Honda tracks coming up (as Dani proved last year) it looks like Lorenzo needs some luck to claw back 39 points.

The fight for 2nd place is between Dani & Jorge, unless Marc falls of his bike soon. If not he's the champ. Rossi is out of the fight and never really was in it to begin with. 4th would be the best hell do, but he will still be fighting it out with Crutchlow for 4th & 5th. Whatever Crutchlow finishes this year will be his record high because unless he was made to ride a Ducati he is going to fight it out for Top 10's, Top 8's at best and a Top 5 when riders either falls or doesn't race. What happen to Ducati of the 90's & 00's?! Hopefully not gone for life, but this effected machine is costing in MotoGp & Superbike so it's definitely something with the chassis, and torque/power output for sure!

Redding has undergone arm pump surgery - I wonder if it has been hampering for the last few races and contributed to his patchy performances.

Poor qualifying from Redding...again. It's like he doesn't want the title!

MotoGP should be great - a battle between MM, Jorge and Pedrosa again. Crutchlow seems to be going backwards since he signed for Ducati. Smith almost outqualified him!
