Bet Daytona they get around 204mph.

In other news, NASCAR announced new restrictor plate designs:

Front Row Motorsports announced today both Ragan and Gilliand will continue to drive for them full time in 2013. They also have expanded Josh Wise's schedule to full time, and plans for Wise to run all of them to the end.
This means AJ's ace in the hole so to say (FRM) is now gone, I really doubt he'll be full time next season.

Poor AJ. He just showed how inconsistent the series' penalty system actually is (yeah, doing drugs is soooooooooooo much worse than intentionally wrecking and potentially killing another driver in Trucks) and now his career is, as of now, a ruin.

Finch might still pick him up, but last I heard Finch will be part time and he could always just get Smith.
The thing I don't get is why is Adderal even on the list? If a driver wants to clear up a headache, he should have the right to do so without calling NASCAR at 3 in the morning.

Adderall is not prescribed for headaches. There are plenty of legal over-the-counter medications that could be used for such situations. A person making millions of dollars in a dangerous environment should be extremely aware of what they are putting in their bodies at all times, without exception.

As for why it's on the list, I'll quote part of an ESPN article:

In most sports, amphetamines are considered a performance-enhancing drug because they increase aggression, confidence, alertness and concentration. Adderall is used by many who have been diagnosed with ADHD to help them concentrate on tasks. Others, according to a 2011 report in USA Today's college section, use the drug to get high.

Allmendinger said he does not use Adderall as a therapy for ADHD.

Dr. Charles Yesalis, emeritus professor at Penn State and an expert on performance-enhancing drugs in sports, said Adderall and other amphetamine-based products definitely would enhance a race car driver's performance.

"You're talking about a sport where a tenth of a second a lap difference is a big deal," he said. "It blows my mind the [drivers] that hit their mark every time. It's a no-brainer everybody would concede that in NASCAR concentration is unbelievably critical."

Because there hasn't been a specific case study on whether amphetamines might enhance a driver's performance, Catlin said advantages from the drug are purely speculative.

"I suppose if the drivers are looking to stay hyper-alert, that'll do it," Catlin said of the taking of amphetamines.

Alright, that does sound fair enough. I don't think Dinger was using it to gain any sort of edge, though.
It really has been a rough season for AJ. First, he seperates from his wife (who was supposedly cheating on him for Tony Stewart), then he has just plain bad luck on track when he finally gets his big break, then he gets suspended for taking a pill, loses his ride with Penske, and as a cherry on top of it all, his former teammate wins the championship. :(

Don't encourage NASCAR, they'll see the bright colors and actually buy up a 100-pack of those straws to distribute to the teams as the restrictor plates during Speedweeks 2013. :dopey:

loses his ride with Penske,

I don't think Penske was going to keep him anyways, he was just filler until Penske could get an actual replacement for Busch.

I think at this point his best bet would be to go to Grand-Am and hope to get a part-time ride somewhere in one of the 3 series', fairly certain Shank offered him a ride after his suspension thing.

He was doing reasonably well before he got suspended, he just had horrible luck and was inconsistent. He had a better average finish in the 22 then Hornish, more top 10s, and had been gaining steam when he was taken out (Two consecutive 9ths). And besides, who could they of replaced him with? It's not like Joey has set the world on fire like he was going to.
AJ has confirmed on Twitter he and Shank will be back at Daytona to defend their 24H race win from last year, I think they will run AJ full time if he can't find a NASCAR ride full time.

He had 3 top 10's in 17 races, bad luck can only work as an excuse for so long.

Hornish isn't that good, his prime was nearly 10 years ago. Now, let's look at Allmendinger's top 10's. His first was a 2nd at a wild Martinsville race, his 2nd was a 9th at Sonoma, a track he should do well on considering his background, his third was another 9th at Kentucky, really the only one that is impressive.

And besides, who could they of replaced him with? It's not like Joey has set the world on fire

No, he hasn't, but he has far more potential, he is still only 22.

like he was going to.

Are you suggesting that AJ was going to?

I think he means Joey with that last sentence you broke up. Joey was all the rage when he was coming up through the ranks, "sliced bread" and all that. He's great in the lower ranks, but in the Cup Series, he's been average and his only wins have been either weather related or due to luck.

I'm not so sure "luck" is how he was fast enough not only to win pole, but to actually keep pace and challenge for said 2nd win (albeit the old bump and run).

How do you misspell Mobil when its on the image you are linking too? Matt's nickname was never the Killer Bee, his crew was the Killer Bee's.

Well maybe his new crew will be called that, you know? The yellow and black??

What? Legacy scheme? What legacy exactly?

Mobil will be there for Tony till the end of his career, they were one of his first sponsors and his best one! Like Dupont and Gordon. Alot of people consider the 20 years scheme Gordon's Legacy car!

Yeah, after reading again I see that and apologize.

That being said, it's not really his fault the media hyped him up so much, granted I do think he needed a few more full time seasons in Nationwide before going to Cup(I think the Dillon's are doing it right).
