I'm gonna be updating the OP with a list of ineligible names. Right now there's around 25 in the top 100 that we know aren't eligible due to various reasons and around 10 in the top 31 atm.

I have the alcohol tolerance of a small child. Haha but seriously. I need to take a break from lapping. I'm finding myself staring blankly at the screen and not improving at all.

No **** really? So if the competition ended right now I would go? Thats a good feeling..

For those who have attended, how do the finals work. The 32 man part... Is it a series of races with a certain amount eliminated each race? Is their qualifying for this race/races?

Does the NA version of the demo have less tire grip then all the others or something.. Someone needs to make us look a little better here.

Knocked off another tenth but then I realized I left traction control at one. I'll take it but still... :dunce: :boggled:

I know there's another tenth in the last sector but other than that, I don't know where else to gain time other than at Maggots. The aliens are using that rumble but I touch it, my Z spins right off the track.

It's four rounds of racing for points, with the four lowest point scorers of each round being eliminated. each round. Last round has 20 guys left, then when that last batch of four's gone, the 16 left standing get to go to Racecamp in Silverstone for one week in September.

You get something like 5 points for a win, 3 for 2nd and 1 point for 3rd iirc.
Being last (4th) is not advisable as you get 0 points for it.

You race in groups of four, two groups at a time (the rest of the finalists have to wait in the green room during races).

Besides all the pressure, it's the funnest time I've ever had racing in a game or sim. It was an honor and a pleasure and definitely worth making it even for that experience alone. I'm jealous of the 16 guys that have a chance of doing it again from last year. It's the closest thing we have to Evo for sim racing besides Intel Extreme Masters or GTFusion.

btw, we also did a cold time trial competition on a custom cource just before everything started in order to set the seeding for the rounds. I suggest you go all out if they do something similar again in order to get sorted into the rounds as a top seed. They could base it off of your time trial ranking from this phase we're doing now though. They only had to do that last year for us because we had 33 guys going in and they needed to eliminate 1 person right off the bat before things got started.

You can also add "GoFasterSpiffy". It is an alt I created to encourage my buddy, SpiffyDeezy, to set a better lap. It currently sits 9th in USA.:sly:

Some of the names in the top may be too young still, or from another country, or past contestants with a name change. We won't know until after deadline hits and Sony/Nissan reach out to the top 31 to confirm eligibility so it could be a few days of nail-biting on edge anxious terrifying waiting for those just out of the top 31 to ~45 since it's quite possible to make it from that far back seeing how many return players we're getting.

It would help out a lot for others to reach out and let me know of names I missed.

Yea, I can confirm doodle is ineligible because of his age. He is only 16.

So that's 10 in the top 31 that are currently ineligible, probably gonna stay around that number, so you guys have some breathing room getting to aim for a top 41 spot.

I can almost guarantee they will not be eligible. Even if it isn't in the rules. They could have very well signed something 2 years ago that stated they were ineligible to participate in future GT Academy events. In my opinion the only person that was on the show that should be allowed back is Conman, due to his circumstances of leaving.
 
I don't think there was anything in the fine print that stated we couldn't compete again. It was in the rules last year, but like R1600Turbo said, they've got to update the 2013 rules soon or it will be a mess. LOL

That's one of my main time-suck areas. I spent my time yesterday in Practice 3 trying to burn those turns into my brain.

I like that aspect of the trial. I can get a lot more practice on the parts of the track where I need the most work. I hope GT6 will have this feature for any track, or at least the long ones. ;)
