Sky Sports News reporting that a fee has been agreed for Di Maria for £63.9 million...80 million Euros, top class player, paying at least 20 million too much for him though...

I heard on SKY this morning that it's £63.9M rising to £75M with add on's, and wages of €8.3M nett a year (equivalent to c.£215k/wk or £55M over the duration of a 5 year contract).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That will make Di Maria the 3rd most expensive player in the World after Ronaldo and Bale.

If anyone thinks Di Maria is even in the top 20 players in the World they need their head examining.

Just plain silly.

That's the way the prices are rising now. Could you imagine how much someone like PSG Would pay for Messi. I'd imagine over 200 million.

I think Messi (along with Ronaldo to a slightly lesser extent) is pretty much priceless... in so far as they are such incredible players, they are irreplaceable no matter what their transfer fee.

I bought Messi for Real Madrid on football Manager Handheld for £85 million plus Di Maria.

I doubt he'd go anywhere in real life though.

Short of a buy-out clause or a sudden, Yaya Toure-esque tantrum brought on by lack of trophies...

Personally I'd rather have 3 Toni Kroos' and the change, plus they would be 2 years younger than Di Maria.

Who gives a monkeys how much he costs were no longer in a position to fanny about, pay what it takes. We've wasted enough on 15 million fails time to make a statement of intent.

Big game tonight, Man City v Liverpool..1st v 2nd from last season..

..Liverpool sign Balotelli, done deal!

God knows how Mario will turn out for us... could be brilliant, could be a car crash

Hoping for a decent performance tonight... wish the game was a few weeks further into the season, but you have to face the best at some stage.

That would have been good from the neutral (ish) point of view for Mario to have his debut at the Ethiad. Not for Liverpool fans though cause I'm 99% sure the abuse from the City fans would have gathered him a yellow or 2 at least.

City 1-0 up at half time, Jovetic with the goal, mistake by Moreno, Liverpool dominated large parts of that half..

2-0 Jovetic again!

Hmmmm, don't think we've played that badly, yet 3-0 down

City have such an amazingly high quality squad!

3-1 Lambert, goal given by goal line technology....

3-1 full time, impressive by City, it will definitely by City v Chelsea for the title after the start they both had and if anyone has any doubts about that then your wrong

Yep. The title is between City and Chelsea I reckon.

Strong performance form City tonight.

Yup, think Chelsea are favourites this season if Diego Costa is the striker they've been missing for a while.

If Liverpool can control him, I think Balotelli at £16m is a good deal.

Watching this helps me forget about that!
Why would you watch the game as a United fan?
I'd only do it if my life depended on it.

So anyway tonight is the Mickey Mouse Cup where United lose at MK Dons, and a few other, less important, games are played. Extra work for me, which I don't mind.

I watched it as a football fan....

....will be interesting to see what team LVG picks tonight and unlike certain MUFC fans (*cough* C-Zeta) I actually want United to win..

So anyway tonight is the Mickey Mouse Cup where...
... real football teams who don't kill the national game by spending nine figures on complete units from other national sides and give them week-in, week-out football at the expense of developing English talent compete until the moneymen bother to turn up a couple of rounds down the line and act like one of the four major trophies doesn't matter play.

Di Maria passes his medical, and there's 29,000 tickets sold for the MK Dons-United game, which will be as record for the club..
