Shedden, Scott and Austin penalised: http://www.touringcartimes.com/2014/05/04/penalties-for-shedden-scott-and-austin-at-thruxton/

In other news Belcher's Avensis doesn't look badly damaged

I would've expected the roof to look ten times worse than that, but it may have got off lucky.

But until they strip it back, you can't really tell how much damage has been done to the shell. Cole's car looked okay from some angles, but they were barely able to salvage anything from it.

Penalties are what were expected. 4 points for Austin is a lot though.

Taken from the blue book:
15.1.2. Not slowing down or overtaking is an offence
from wherever Yellow flags are displayed until the
Green flag is passed.
Thruxton.jpg

Stationary yellow flags were displayed Marshal Post 14, double waved yellow flags at Marshal Post 15, green flags at Marshal Post 16. Shedden completed his move between 15 and 16 so he was in the yellow flag zone.

Update after Thruxton: Warren Scott was in trouble twice with the stewards at Thruxton. He hit James Cole in race one and Dan Welch in race two, which saw him reach three strikes overall. He started from the back for the third race.

Rob Austin, meanwhile, was excluded from race two after his collision with Nick Foster that brought out the red flags. Austin’s appeal was rejected. He was also handed a 4-point licence penalty.

Finally, Gordon Shedden was penalised for passing Jack Goff under yellow flags. The two drivers’ positions have been reversed, so Goff gets fifth with Shedden sixth.

According to Touring Car Times there are also incidents involving Matt Neal, Rob Collard, Fabrizio Giovanardi and Mat Jackson under investigation.

Drivers on One Strike

Martin Depper: Brands Hatch - Excluded from race 2 and 4 licence points for incident with James Cole
Marc Hynes: Brands Hatch - Excluded from race 2 and 4 licence points for incident with Martin Depper
Jack Clarke: Brands Hatch - 5 place grid penalty applied for race 1 at Donington Park and 3 licence points in race 3
Fabrizio Giovanardi: Donington - 30-second time penalty for track limits violation and a crash involving Aron Smith and Tom Ingram in race 3
Tom Ingram: Donington - Excluded from race 3 result for contact with Rob Austin
Gordon Shedden: Thruxton - one place penalty and 3 licence points for passing Jack Goff under yellow flags
Rob Austin: Donington (PENDING) - Under investigation for alleged collision with Jack Goff in race 3. Was reviewed at Thruxton but we don’t yet know what the outcome was; Thruxton - 4 licence points and exclusion for collision with Nick Foster in race 2
Rob Collard: Thruxton - Verbal warning for contact with Matt Neal in race 3
Drivers on Two Strikes

Aron Smith: Brands Hatch - 2 licence points and 5 place grid penalty for an incident with Mat Jackson in race 1 and a yellow flag infringement in race 2
Drivers who reached three strikes in 2014

Warren Scott: Brands Hatch - Yellow flag infringements; Thruxton - incidents with James Cole (verbal warning) and Dan Welch (reprimand). Demoted to the back of the grid for the third race at Thruxton.

For 2013 ToCA introduced a new rule to help improve driving standards in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. In addition to any punishments handed out for driving standards violations, all punished drivers would receive one ‘strike’.

A ‘strike’ will count every time a driver is warned verbally upwards – so reprimands, fines and racing licence penalties will accrue ‘strikes’ as well. Once the third strike is awarded, the driver will be relegated to the back of the grid at the next race. Drivers will receive this penalty every time they reach three strikes across the course of the season. In 2013, the rule stated drivers would receive a six-place grid penalty but this was increased for 2014.

It shows the clampdown on driving standards is really being enforced. The track limits also haven't caught people out as much as I expected, but Knockhill and Brands are two places that are fairly heavily kerb reliant, so it's possible we'll see most incidents there.

Possible loophole? Skip over them and don't touch them?

Knowing BTCC it's something they'd do.

Didn't TOC appeal for excessive cutting of corners, and provide a pic of his car with all 4 wheels off the ground, saying how can you cut the corner if technically no wheels are in contact with the ground??

Couldn't see that picture in school, absolutely brilliant

I'm not sure what the point was in leaving that yellow flag out at Church,if they were really concerned about driver safety the race would have been red flagged.Throwing a truckload of used tires in the grass in front of a wooded area with a nice little berm to send the cars flying is pathetic.👎👎

Watching Rnd.3's races it looks like the Honda's have a better shock package than everybody else, they seemed to barely notice the curbs compared to the BMW's and Ford's.I look forward to the next round whenever they end up on youtube.

That would never have happened unless someone was seriously injured due to the tv rights.

Well I guess if they were willing to race in the first place with those conditions then why fix it.Reading the comments on the Thruxton facebook page it seems the British fans are thirsty for blood since the idea of a gravel trap or a wall seems too offensive. So much for Senna week...

Thanks to ITV's unique policy of "watch it live on the day or wait a week" with BTCC, I've only just caught Thruxton...

What was Collard thinking of in race 3? Yeah, okay, the tag from Shedden was at least half Shedden's fault and he benefitted slightly from the inconvenience of it, but the business with Matt Neal was utterly insane. You can't shut the door on a committed pass like that and what he did at the Complex right after was banworthy - even if you ignore the fact he made no attempt at braking and just put himself into Neal's door, the in-car showed him actually getting onto the power with both cars off the track and Neal's still sideways across him.

And I'm no fan of Neal - he's like a slightly less unlikeable Jason Plato.
