Going to work seems to spoil my flow totally, got drunk yesterday, had a couple of beers already to day and was able to improve over .3 s. today in just over 50 mile stint  would only take .150 to make it to .15.9xx still pretty happy though, it has been my firs GTA since I got me a PS3 just 8 months or so ago. (had played since GT3 though, just had a break of some 3 or 4 years)

Just have to say this has been a rollercoaster in so many levels, I mean once you get that GT-R up to speed it's really enjoyable to drive since you can push it like half minded and be really fast! On the other hand even one lap have seemed like a monumental task sometimes during this couple of weeks, I'ts mentally quite exhausting to try to push your limits up to 4 hours a day :D

It's time to go online, it's no good after too many drinks :D

2:20.6!!! (something) but I got it!!!
Surprising how a little difference in setting can change so much!

Thanks for the tip everyone!

(I still can't seem to go flat out with a DS3 at the left swooping turn before the chicane though... is it just me doing something wrong? always understeer and go off track if I don't at least lift off, or sometimes tap on the brake for a tiny bit)
Ha ha well well done mate! Enjoy your new car. I can't help but think all the guys running 2:15s must be secretly laughing their heads off at our little 2:20 efforts, still gold is gold:cheers:

I believe @outlaw4rc said don't overlap brakes and gas for Turn 11. That's a good tip. 👍
That's a good tip for any corner but especially T11. I mentioned before you can use a little more curb if you don't overlap.

I never could find a consistent braking marker, though. Best advice I can provide is get the car settled on approach. If you exit Bruxelles wide, you're more likely to mess up T11. My upshift to 4th is my makeshift marker - I brake straight right after it. Turn in a little lighter but delay throttle application for a fraction of a second. Then you hope the nose rotates enough.

2:17.924

I hereby award myself a highly coveted participation trophy.

I'm stuck on a 15.4, with still another. 6 to take out, but wheel broke during the week so I'm screwed, the pedals are developing dead zones and there are big delays in throttle response, its impossible to drive, so gutted I am not going to be able to qualify now.
Gonna have to wait till next year when I'll have the t500 :-) I'm getting sick of the dfgt and it's lack of over all precision.

Hats off to EVERYONE for what you have been able to achieve during GT Academy 2014. It has been a great experience for me and you all as well, I'm sure. Obtaining Gold alone is also something to be very proud of, GT Academy was not designed to be easy. Congrats to ALL! 👍

The ol saying goes, "...as long as you had fun, right!?" True very true, but for me, this weekend has nothing to do w/ fun! I don't know why we push ourselves so hard. With each upswing, each decent gain...gradually you think we would say, "Wow, well done! That's good enough and very satisfying!"

But we push harder. We progress, we push harder!

I should be very satisfied w/ a 2:18.068 w/ my very limited TT XP and being new to the wheel, but to me it's not nearly good enough, sad even.

I had to stop to typ some blah blah  started to get frustrated early on having already blown some 17.5's and who knows what...

At this point though, the learning curve in just the finals alone is worth a ton. So what ever happens from here on out I can't complain.

Still only a 2:20.XXX! I don't understand how you guys cope with the catastrophic understeer and the brick-like handling of the car!

Sorry if this was asked already, after it ends, will the GT Academy section still be available to earn gold and win the car? I havent had much time play but I want to earn the car.

That's what she said. :lol::sly:

Sorry, I had to, you made it entirely too easy for me to pass the opportunity up.

Exactly what I thought at start. "...a brick crap house on rock hard rubber!"

The key: Trail Braking. I'm not near where I would like to be, but getting better w/ it and had a few sessions yesterday that felt great. Actually enjoyed the drive.

Some crazy competitive leaderboards out there, Spain sticks out again this year! I must admit I would love to see a GT Academy where previous finalists can get in and also anybody who perhaps hasn't raced nationally in 5 years + (I think that would get @Twissy in). I couldn't even imagine how insane that leaderboard would look :D!

Good luck though for the last few hours guys, i think there's just under 13 hours left! Focus, think about each lap, think about what you can improve on and try and hit your goal! But most of all don't be disappointed if you don't qualify, every year it's competitive this year is no exception, and you never know how many ineligible are infront of you so you still may get that call!

So Good luck everyone!!

(Not sure whether I'll jump on for an hour tonight for a cheeky attempt :P)

P.S. I'd also love to see @IMMORTALPILOT get his perfect lap as I can imagine that's around the 13.8xx mark! Would be amazing to see that 1 person get under the 14 barrier!

I just got a half decent time that i hope will keep me in the top 14 for today.

These last 2 weeks have been full on. exams, driving lessons, getting all my coursework in on time. (and a few nights out with mates, oops) Haven't had any time for GTA from either being tired or asleep :( . So I'm happy that i got a decent time in the end.

good luck to everyone competing.

anyone know when practice races start?

I'm suprised i'm still in the U.K top 10, I just simply didn't have the time or patience to try and find that perfect lap after the first week :guilty:. I'm sure I will get booted down some more spots this evening, Good luck everyone 👍

Seem to have had an epiphany at the wrong end of the 2 weeks.

After being stuck at a 2:16.1 all week I got a 2:15.9 followed by a 2:15.858 and have just gone and done a 2:15.763. Was .050 slower than my .8 at T2 and .3 down on my best at T2 but, for me, aced the last sector. Ideally I'd be looking to get a 2:15.4/5, but when I was stuck at 2:16.1 I said I'd be happy with a 2:15.7, so I've achieved my goal. Yet now I know I can go .3 faster I don't feel satisfied with my time.

Ho hum! :indiff:

Great improvement, that should keep you in the top now! Practices races usually start happening straight after the competition finishes so keep an eye out from tomorrow I guess :)! There's usually a thread on here!

Nice job @Spurgy 777 taking #1 spot again!

Slight Improvement I have flashes of 15.5s and lower.... really enjoying the 3 4 5 turn combo feels good when getting a slight slide through those combos

Current time 2:16.178

What time does it end for us west coast guys? 8:59PM???
