I can't beleive they're actually going to stick a 1.4T in that thing (didn't read the entire thread, sorry if that's been taken off the table). Fortunately the U.S. won't get stuck with that.

Hopefully.

Yet.

I haven't heard anything about a 1.4T in the Cherokee. I think it's a 2.4L, a 3.2L V6 and a diesel. I'm not sure if the US is getting the diesel, but I assume we will since we got the Liberty with a diesel.

Is the 9-speed actually still going to happen? It was supposed to launch with the Dart, and then it just... vanished.

Yup, they'll have a 9-speed in them.

And per some friends back on the other side of the state, they've said they've seen diesel Cherokee's about so I know one is coming. The few people I know that work at Chrysler said there will be one, but they don't know if it'll be for the US or not.

Last I had heard, there were a bunch of setbacks that prevented it from going in the Dart. I thought there was also something to do with the fuel performance not being as good as it was supposed to be. I'm not entirely sure what the benefit will be going forward, the Aero Package model gets 41 MPG.

They are saving it for the Cherokee which will have the 9 speed Standard. by the time the 14'/15 Arrives, the 9spds capacity will grow and be offered in the 200 and Dart.

So I got a chance to drive one of these yesterday for about 40 miles and it's not that bad. It's smaller than I thought it would be, but the interior is pretty roomy. I rode in the back seat for a little while too and was pretty comfortable. The 9-speed gearbox felt weird, but it was also a pre-production model so I'm not sure if the production version will be better. With the 2.4L it drove nice, although it felt a little underpowered on the on-ramps, but it wasn't dangerously slow or anything.

I was really impressed with the tech on the vehicle though, the lane departure warning system is pretty cool and automatically corrects the vehicle for your. The active cruise controls works really well too.

It look way better in person too.

SRT version of the Cherokee rumored

*rendering of the Cherokee SRT*
SRT8-rendering.jpg

Allpar has been told that a Jeep Cherokee SRT is coming, using a hopped-up engine and a nine-speed automatic transmission. The car is likely to be an all wheel drive version, not surprising given potential traction and handling issues with front wheel drive.

So far, there is no word on which engine the Cherokee SRT would use; Maserati has its own 3-liter twin-turbo V6 pushing out over 400 horsepower, but that is likely too pricey for an SRT. A turbocharged 3-liter Pentastar V6 has long been on the planning books, with a single turbo guestimated at 375 horsepower and a twin turbo at 410.

The 2.4 turbo engine would likely beat 300 horsepower, but with the standard V6 coming in at nearly that level, it doesn’t seem practical for SRT. That could preclude making a Dart SRT with the same powertrain, but would simplify the creation of a next-generation Chrysler 200 SRT.

The Cherokee SRT would be unusual for its category, and could help to spread the word of the new vehicle.

Well, found out today that covered SUV I had thought that was the Jeep Cherokee Liberty is actually it.

I guess on her way home from work today, she had seen it with most of the coverings off. It had absolutely no badges still. The only reason she is sure that it was it, was because of a part of the back bumper (between the exhausts) had "Cherokee" on it. It is one of those things that are built into that part, so bit cannot be removed. Also it looked exactly like the pictures in the OP.

She actually owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and she doesn't like that version.

I've been seeing these almost daily here in Ann Arbor with manufacturer plates. If anything, they look worse in person. Truly horrible design.

I saw one over here in Grand Rapids not that long ago, and I didn't think it was too bad. It's different, and I guess in my mind, that goes a lot further than it should.

Local dealer has one now. The ads show a brown one that doesn't look too bad. White with matte black decals isn't a good look though.

I've seen some of these at a dealership. It doesn't look completely horrible, but I still don't really like it.

I was then distracted by a Plum Crazy SRT Challenger, and then completely forgot about it. :dopey:

It looks like a Nissan Juke.............

I think it looks like an anaconda swallowing an 05-09 Mustang. If I had one, I'd paint it two-tone to reinforce that point.

The fixed the face a little bit. It's gone from some guy getting chomped on by a demonic creature to some guy dying in the mouth of a demonic creature. At least they progressed the story, right?

I actually don't mind them out in the wild - they've certainly struck peoples' attentions, as there's been numerous occasions where non-car people I'm with will comment on it.

The one thing that actually bothers me more than the front is the character line continuing right across the middle of the rear hatch. It looks like the Cherokee was pressed up against something by accident, and leaves a really awkward expanse of flat sheetmetal.

SRT Cherokee. Now that's dumb. This car is small as hell on the inside. I don't see the appeal at all.

I thought the new Liberty looked awful in photos but after seeing quite a few in person I don't think they look bad at all. Certainly not the best looking Jeep but throw a little diesel in one and I'd daily drive it.

The few that I've seen in person look good, but I often feel that it, like a lot of the current Fiat-Chrysler crop, look better only in particular colors. The last Cherokee I saw, a red Trailhawk, looked fantastic.
