I like the front of this Jeep, but the back is way too reminiscent of Audi or Ford Fusion or something. If I saw one of these in front of me I would have no idea it was a Jeep (if not for the big Jeep logo).

Though I've been complaining about generic rear ends in cars for a while now.

Also, the steering wheel would probably be a major deterrence for anyone with coulrophobia.

In color, as opposed to the greyscale paint jobs most pics have had, it actually has some potential. Still hard to look at, but not revolting.

Aside: Could someone tell me when fuster-cluck interiors became all the rage?

I also recall Chuck D hoping Aribitron would measure "funky, funky Jeeps", in How To Kill A Radio Consultant.
You do realize that video was a parody, right? None of the people in the title are in that video. Hip hop isn't dead, you just think it is so you won't listen to it.
Yes, i know it's a parody, and yes, i still do listen to plenty of current (good) Hiphop.. just probably not the stuff you listen too. And i think Hiphop is dead when you compare it to how it used to be (as a whole). One of my closest friends is the guy responsible for this:

Oh, and yes, Chrysler are off their rocker with that hideous Jeep (imo).

(Sorry mods, for yet again going off topic).

I think i had seen this jeep driving into downtown Detroit.

As I have said before I live about 20 minutes from downtown. On my way down there a few days ago to take my mother into work which I do sometimes.

On the highway I drove passed a SUV that had the black mask and the zebra spiral printed body covers.

As we passed it we tried to take a picture of it but couldn't take it in time because of traffic. But as I looked at the masked front end which the headlights were on. It looked like the headlights were in the exact same place. And the whole car was the same size. She said the car has been driving around downtown and on the same highway for the passed few weeks. So i might get a picture of it soon and I will post it here maybe it might be the car.

More pics HERE

It still looks ugly.

I haven't seen these pictures yet and it was about the same angle I was looking at the car I was talking about above. I am pretty sure it might have been it.

I wouldn't doubt it, a buddy of mine who works on the project already has one to drive around for a bit. I saw one yesteday when I drove back to my parents house, but they live less than 5 miles from the Chrysler HQ building in Auburn Hills so there's always new stuff around there.

Maybe it was him I had seen on I94 about 10 miles before the M10 haha

After seeing it person at the NYIAS, I don't believe I'm going to say this but .............. I actually like the way it looks much better in person then it does in pictures. It still looks weird but there something about it that makes it looks nice.

The only thing that sucks is they aren't offering a manual on it, even on just the 4-banger.

I don't think the any of the Grand Cherokees have been offered in manual since 2000

True, but this is a Cherokee (no grand) based on the platform that the Dart uses.

Uses the "Platform" but not the "Architecture"... going by your logic, the Dart can be had with a 4x4 system with Rear Dif. Locking and a 3.2l V6...

They will be using the same 2.4 engine though (used in the Dart GT), and the dart offers a manual. I will admit though that the way they set up the 4WD system may prevent the manual from being used.

I think it' beautiful from every angle. Jeep made brave decision too finally change completely they rusty looks flag ship car.

I hope that Porsche will do the same and completely redesign they 911. Because years have gone bye and those cars looks completely the same. Japanese car makers understand that perfectly. Look how Lancer EVO had changed over the years, and subaru also. I love that Jeep 👍

There's no reason why Dodge couldn't do exactly that if there was demand for it. The Cherokee doesn't use a dial-a-gear system or anything like that, so I wouldn't be too surprised of Jeep offered a stripper model if the thing debuts with prices that are too high.

I hope that Porsche will do the same and completely redesign they 911.

They did. Just last year in fact.

Dodge can do a AWD Dart but not a 4WD Dart. also as cramped as it is in the engine compartment in the dart with the 1.4-2.4, it wouldnt be possible to fit the 3.2 in there without modifying the compartment.

You mean a front-biased AWD system like the one that will already be in all but the top model of Cherokee, and "modifying the engine compartment" like Dodge do anyway for the physically larger 2 liter?

More importantly, even if a V6 couldn't fit in there, how does that mean that Jeep couldn't hook up a stick for a cheap model like they did for the Dart with the same engine in the same drivetrain configuration on the same platform?

No they totally DIDN'T, why do you lying about??!! Porsche 911 is almost the same car as previous models. I was referring too new Jeep in terms that this car is totally indistinguishable from previous model.

This is old model from 2012

And this is new model from 2014 totally redesigned, and it looks like completely different car.

Porsche 911 still looks like 911, i seriously hope they totally redesign how this car looks.

Actually this is the most thorough redesign of the 911 in a very long time. It shares virtually nothing with the outgoing 997 model.

Those aren't even the same model. The first picture is a Grand Cherokee and the second picture is the new Cherokee which will replace the liberty. If you want to see the 2014 Grand Cherokee, here it is:

Basically the same car as the 2012 Grand Cherokee with a facelift and minor equippment changes.

Don't hold your breath. The new 991 model isn't merely a facelift like the Jeep, it's a radical reengineering.

That's because it is a completely different car.

And while I get that you're just repeating a bunch of silly Clarkson nonsense as if it should be taken seriously, what is a 911 supposed to look like, anyway?

Parts of the 911 are sometimes kept over successive generations but it's evolved into something completely different, like any other car produced from the 1960s to now. You'd have a point if you could confuse this for a static image, but you're just willfully ignoring the changes to make a trite remark:

This GIF lacks the 991, which would add another rather noticable shift in proportions. Because it's been completely redesigned.

As for "the history of the Cherokee family," I grew up riding in my father's SJ and we also had an XJ. He drives a CJ-5 now. I remember when the Grand Cherokee was first built -- alongside the separate Cherokee. These are two different cars. The Liberty was called the Cherokee in export markets, in fact, so the Grand Cherokee never replaced the Cherokee in any way. We're just getting the original nameplate back.

It doesn't look like a Jeep. When I think Jeep, I think Wrangler or CJ. They've looked like that since WWII.

I was thinking about the old 2 door Cherokee and how much better it look then the 4 door one.

So I photo shopped a 2 door version of the current one.....

*Note-I'm not that good at PS*

What do you think about a 2 door version of the new Cherokee?

I'm warming to it, in much the same way I have with the Juke. I don't find either particularly good looking, but kudos to both companies for having the guts to make them and move outside their normal design language. The "it's not Jeep enough" brigade should look no further than Jaguar as a recent example of a company that suffered thanks to a staunch refusal to change their designs - and now, thanks to a complete about-face on that policy, are enjoying more good fortune than they had in decades.

I can't beleive they're actually going to stick a 1.4T in that thing (didn't read the entire thread, sorry if that's been taken off the table). Fortunately the U.S. won't get stuck with that.

Hopefully.

Yet.
